No...this doctor seems to do so many, varied surgeries. I've heard of several emergency surgeries he has done recently. When one of the cancellations was due to him being hurt, there was no one immediately to fill in for him. But, back in December, they assured me that, if he wasn't available in January, they would find someone else to do it. I was #2 on the list of 'must-do's'.

I know around here there's shortages of some specialties so if someone is out due to illness or injury or, worse, retires or moves, we are kind of SOL (s__t outta luck). My old dermatologist is retiring next month and has been only working part time for a while now so the wait lists for OHIP-funded dermatology are getting insane. Plus the ones who are working the hardest seem to be focused on cosmetic stuff that isn't OHIP-funded.

it has been a strange winter in one respect;
all kinds of sick went around
even my bro who NEVER gets sick got ill
twice
his immune system is amazing
and whenever he gets sick he throws it off so quickly lol

So I am jumping in again into the breach this year
The family who brought 12th Night here last year are doing it this year

NO.PRESSURE play

Hamlet

we all got together today for a dramatic reading

5 new people this year
The guy who read Polonius, who has NEVER ACTED, did such a good job. Very funny reading

This year I want to play bit characters, like the washerwoman or gravedigger who is in the background

I can imagine the washerwoman cleaning up and then some of the menfolk get in a row and spill their blood on my handiwork...*sigh*

That got.a laugh

Good morning! For colds and sore throats, immune systems, good meals with friends in good restaurants, cruises and flights, delayed medical tests, plays, and all the other stuff that makes up life, it comes to the Coffee Cart with us, for conversation and support, as we drink tea and coffee, and indulge in lemon squares and other squares. The coffee is fresh brewed, tea water is ready, friendships are warm. Come join the conversations! All is ready, all are welcome.

Hope it's nothing serious. Vibes. Nice rhyming. Makes it sound rather cheerier than one usually is going for an x-ray.
And... my x-ray revealed that I have a little arthritis in my knees. Which is cool, cuz now I get to go through having that challenge. Also had a blood test today, which I love, and my doc said my results from it were good overall. She prescribed me (again) some meds for gout, and then Yobo and I grabbed a burger at the restaurant in the basement. Which tasted amazing - because I hadn't eaten in about 14 hours

Speaking of cruises, I have heard that drink packages typically include up to 15 drinks per day. Isn't this excessive, even for a vacation?

I have also heard many cruise lines allocate a space for AA meetings.

I have never been on a cruise myself.

I wouldn’t even have 15 drinks in a month! I’ve been missing my couple of glasses of wine a month because of the liver issues. Last wine was August 12 and I’ve been whining ever since!

The drink packages are a bit nuts. What is nuttier is that Norwegian is now bundling the drink package with the cruise fare and then you have to opt out. At least Carnival, my preferred line, still does it opt-in. They also have a package that just covers pop and other non-alcoholic beverages. Personally, I never buy a drink package. Tea (hot and iced), juice, and coffee are included and that's generally enough for us.

Oh, and let's not forget that at all-inclusive resorts, there are no drink packages. Everything except top shelf liquors is included in the price.

Yesterday and today was busy working on a 5-7min speech that was "Persuasive Speaking" and ideally for the topic "heart health"
Landed on a topic re online stress and the impact on moderators who absorb a lot of hate. (did you know that facebook employees who are content managers are known to suffer ptsd?)

title: Breaking News, Breaking Nerves: Managing Stress in Chaotic Times

Yeah, I remember reading aboot that

(Related: Our Protector Class put a LOT on the line for us. Our particular culture have come a looong way from Cowardice to Shell Shock to PTSD...)

Let us know how your talk goes?

And no stress is imposed from on high as a means of controlling the populace ...

In addition the powers expect the stressed to work as if everything is a fine Dais ... appears stupendous to me ...

Just found out about www.knowledge.ca

Awesome to find another public broadcasting streaming service from Canada.
I hadn't thought that of course there were sites other than tvo.org

Anyone know the other ones off the top of their head?

I've had a lazy day here. I was going to attack a clutter spot. Clutter is still there. I heard from the cancer centre in Victoria. The oncologist is prescribing a drug that will help boost my white blood cells. The Drug Access Navigator called to say it isn't covered by BC Cancer so she has to apply to the program the covers it on my behalf. I know a couple other people who have been on this so it's not unexpected. In fact, it's welcome

I've been watching a bunch of YouTube today. It's nice to see some change of mood south of us. There are some neat protests starting. My favourite was the Army Chorus singing the epilogue chorus of Les Mis at the White House Governor's ball.

Back to my book.
