Room For All

I made two big bowls - one for the barbeque, one for the Room. I hope you all like it. Crazyheart, I mixed mustard with the maionaise, and sprinkled paprika on top.
I actually made a huge bowl - my biggest mixing bowl - then transferred it a large salad bowl. It looked a bit skimpy in the huge bowl, but generously full in the salad bowl.

That's exactly how my mom used to make it, seeler - mustard, mayo, and sprinkled paprika!

I just need to learn stuff as soon as I think of it. My phone's a bit of a menace because I might drift off and think, "what year did Captain Vancouver land?"- like right in the middle of something else!!:D And I want to look it up. Maybe it's not so funny. But my little brain just wants to learn stuff and be creative gets bored with mundane tasks. I'm not so much hyper though. Just curious.

I told my nurse about this appointment over two weeks ago. I emailed specific details over a week ago. The appointment at the hospital was made by my clinic over a week ago. I checked in with another nurse on Monday that everything would be in place, I was told everything would be faxed that day, as the doctor had been away before then. I called the pharmacy on Monday later in the day and yesterday to check about the prescription - not there. I couldn't check on much yesterday. I don't know why everything seems to go wrong for me.

I called the dentist a few times today, I felt bad for bothering them, but if things don't get in place I have to cancel. They finally got the orders sometime after 5pm. The receptionist thinks they can fax everything over to the pharmacy - I gave the info for that, as they have no idea that it needs to be a special pharmacy so I can actually get the stuff on time. The orders did confirm - no appointment for IV, just do my regular med at home. I'll take pills longer this time due to the lack of it via IV.

I'll be calling the pharmacy before I go tomorrow. In addition to picking things up at the pharmacy, I also have to time my home IV right, it needs to be enough time to be fully effective, but can't be too soon either. I need to be prepared in case we have problems, but the dentist can help me out if I need it.

Do other people go through all of these hoops too? I am so tired of double checking everything, but then I didn't do that last time (other than confirming with my nurse and talking through the steps more than once, as well as checking way ahead of time where to go) and then I had my checkin location incorrect, they refused to give me one IV med, instructions weren't clear about my mouthwash, and the prescription for the pills were missing.

Pinga - I think efficiency is Tabitha's middle name. She sure knows how to make a person welcome, and how to get a lot done at the same time. Seelerman and I still talk about the many things we did with her, and her suggestions of things we could do while she was busy elsewhere. Great place.

I was kayaking today. Seelerman and I arrived out at the cottage for the Faith Formation bar-b-q and 'last-before-summer' meeting earlier than te others. Hot day - over 30 - but a nice breeze blowing off the lake in her front yard. I spotted her kayaks - family type, fiberglass, sit-on (rather than sit in). The waves were choppy. But oh, I wanted to be on the water. So down the steps I go. The minister (who owns the cottage) helped me push a kayak out from the rocky shore and held it as I climbed in.
"Have you ever kayaked before?"
"Well, uh, well, I've been in one before. Actually I paddled across a small lake once on a calm day in a two-person kayak."
"Head into the wind, go down shore - that will make it easier to come back."
She and Seelerman watched from the deck of the cottage. I paddled out, bouncing over the waves - 20 or so feet out, a bit further down shore. Turned (they cheered). Took on some water, but this type of kayak can't sink. Paddled out a bit further, came back up in front of the cottage. Another turn, a bit more paddling - then in to shore. Soaked! But I had a change of clothes with me.
Oh, I know that paddling around close to shore doesn't really count as kayaking. But it was fun.
As the others arrived they all told me how brave I was to go out in these waves. (Of course I told them that I had circumnavigated the island we could see out by the point a klm or so away.)

Great barbeque, great afternoon and evening - and we actually got some work done - planning for our youth minister and four young people to attend Rendezvous this summer and for a congregational retreat in the fall.

Seeler, that sounds like kayaking to me :) I don't think I've ever done it. Our community lake has them though, so I'm hoping to get out sometime this summer.

I've never kayaked. My mom used to. I guess it was an ocean kayak. She took a course on how to roll it underwater and back up. And how to eject herself underwater. I don't think I'd want to do that! A canoe or rowboat on a lake is okay. When I was young, about 5, we used to go canoeing on the ocean harbour near us- as a family. On calm sunny days- not very far offshore. And a few more times as I got older, I paddled a canoe with a friend. It's been a long time. The only boat I've been on in 10 years is a ferry- a small one and a big one. And the seabus- which is a totally enclosed catamaran ferry between downtown and the North Shore- part of our transit system.

I went for my first "sit-upon" kayak today . . . we purchased a kayak ordering it from the city - it arrived today. I've never kayaked before, so it is taking some getting used to re: paddling. I think I am going to like this. A sit-upon is different from a kayak that you sit in so you don't need to learn how to roll it underwater.

Sitting enjoying a glass of red wine after another warm day in the Okanagan. Tabitha has us all straightened out, with gear good to go, and I realized that I have not said anything about the wonder-filled time in Vancouver or SaltSpring Island.

So, just thought I would share with our room, the joy of meeting SomeGalfromCan for the first time. She is ever so good in real life. Real, big hugs, full of the spirit. I knew that we would hit it off, when I saw her bobblehead Jesus on the dashboard of her car (gosh, there is likely a song in there somewhere Myst), and I was a bit surprised by the little kitten, until i heard the story of stripey, the transgendered cat. Oh, how we laughed. She is clever and personable, and ....then we picked up MotherOfFive. Now, of course, all that know MotherOfFive know that she is a big evil woman and we were timid approaching her.......hahaha, not even close. She is a delightful sprite, with loads of great personality and stories to boot. So, off we headed to the market and wandering SaltSpringIsland., stopping for photos on the way. I know that SomeGal was hoping we would get to meet Raffi, which of course is important, but, I was super excited, (and maybe only out-excited by MotherOfFive ) to meet Witch, and his partner. We all had lunch together and I truly enjoyed the company, getting to laugh about you (well, not you, but wondercafe), speak about items, talk about churches and faith and our families and our lives, then off we went, with Witch headed home, and we back to the market until it was time to go the ferry. So good.

Now, let's talk about Vancouver. I was so lucky to get to hang out with Myst. (I so wish that we lived closer together. myst has a wonderful family and the best view that I have ever seen...but most importantly, just a warm welcoming household full of fabulous conversation. )

I had fun also at RichardBott's church. @Inannawhimsey is a pure delight. Made me smile, and my only regret is that there is only enough time to chat with people, such as his lovely wife, @Nutmeg. @RichardBott did a wonderful sermon on hospitality and welcome....using the image of the side door vs the front door and whom you invite to each. I was pleasantly surprised by the number of youth in his congregation.

We went to lunch , and were pleased to have so many people there. Myst did a great job picking the location for us. I was astounded by the turnout, recognizing how far some travelled, and how good it was to get together. I got to get a hug from Wolfie, and Kimmio, and of course, a big welcome from Neo, and all the others present, The covnersation went around and around. what a great visit. Inawhimsey, always so thoughtful, moved chairs to ensure he could visit with all. Kimmio & I talked behind MotherofFive's back, but she forgave us.

It was thoroughly a delightful day, and we waved goodbye as we ended our day.

:D Quite literally we talked behind Mof5's back, didn't we? Not only did she forgive us- she could hear everything we said, too! ;)

I had a fun time. Glad to meet Pinga in person and enjoyed our chat.Mof5 was beside me and she's pretty cool. Neo was a pleasure to meet. Wolfie is a kind and gentle soul. Inanna, wild and crazy as always- a pleasure. Nutmeg, I look forward to getting to know better. Richard- awesome as always. And I'm sorry I didn't chat more with the rest. The time was short, and with a long table like that, it happens. Looking forward to more wondermeets, here, and maybe elsewhere, someday.

Great to read that Tabby and Pinga are off on an adventure together.......Spending time together strengthens friendships -as I discovered myself when LBmuskoka and I toured Newfoundland together last year.

Wondercafe brought many folk together in real life -as well as virtual life .Folks, that in the ordinary way of life, you would never have made contact with.
(I'm thinking here also of Rev Steven and chansen)........

Pinga, I get what you're saying about not knowing what to do -and thinking it best to keep out of the way.

LB's partner died suddenly three weeks before I landed on her doorstep.
I said, "I feel I should offer to cook for you, under the circumstances, - but I'm afraid I'm a dreadful cook."
LB smiled and said, "Then it's settled - I'll cook. Mum and I ran a restaurant and I'm a good cook."
(Honestly, if there's anything that woman isn't good at - I'm yet to find it!)

Have a wonderful trip you two Wondercafinator 2's!

I have all the meds I need now, so I'm feeling more calm. Wish me luck on my infusion today! Timing that right is important, but there is a range and I can get help if needed. It's just nicer if I don't need to go into the dentists office well before my actual appointment.

Take care, ChemGal. I hope all goes smoothly today.

Pinga, it was wonderful to see you again - to chat, tour around and just hang out together. I was glad the clouds finally lifted enough that you could see the mountain tops surrounding the city. I hope your canoe trip is amazing!
