Well, I did sleep today! I cleaned up from last night, read a book (fell asleep reading such book), phone my dad (ended up stopping the call due to the mood he was in, said I would call back in 2 hers when he had time to think about his needs, rather than the vicious mood of blame & pity party he was in). Read same book, fell asleep in about the same way... work up, called dad, got his list of needs. He is still in a mood, but, on my list for being off next week is to focus on him, so, hey, I predicted correctly! Lol.

When I wake up at 3am to go pee, there is no question, I go back to sleep.

But today I woke up at 5:15. Now that is tougher. I am not super sleepy. Do I stay up,? Do I try to go back to sleep but risk waking my husband.

I'm on vacation today so decided to stay awake and check-in, read and have a nap this afternoon . What would you do?

Happens to me all the time, Pinga.

I stay in bed until 6:00 and do a little self-talk . . . "I may not be sleeping but at least I am resting." About half the time I fall back to sleep. If not, I just get up at six.

I would just get up if it was a day I had to get up around 7 or so. I find that often it makes me more tired if I fall back asleep. That said, I just read an article about how that's a myth even if you fall back asleep for just a bit your body appreciates it. It also depends on how busy my brain is.

Do you turn on the light when you go pee? I would think that turning on the light at 5 would signal your body that it is time to wake up because it's not super far away from your usual wake-up time. I keep reading/hearing that one should leave the light off when getting up for their mid-night pee.

Might be the perfect excuse for a mid-afternoon nap :)

Since its a struggle for me to make myself get up at 6:45 for work, there is absolutely no way I would voluntarily get up and stay up at that point!

I just do not have a normal sleep schedule. I stay wide awake if I wake up to go pee but if I kept the light off there's a good chance I'd fall over and pee my pants. The other night, late at night, I slipped on the floor in my socks, fell down and landed right on the cat's litter box and broke it (she has two - there are two bathrooms but nowhere else to put them in this apartment) -this was after I peed, mind you - but I had to sweep the mess up and change and wash up - and I either sprained or broke a toe (it hurts less now but oouch did it hurt)! :ROFLMAO: I might as well laugh because I got laughs not sympathy for the experience. It is funny in retrospect.

Ouch Kimmio! Sorry to hear that you got hurt but I am glad things are starting to feel a bit better and that you are able to laugh at it now. I must say I find falling people funny and will be lauging even as I run over to make sure they are ok, I can't help it.

Seelerman and I realized a year or so ago that we both get a better night's sleep if he sleeps in the spare room (and yes, we both know the way between our beds). So worry about disturbing the other is no longer a consideration - as long as we don't play drums at midnight or 5:30 am.

I have trouble sleeping. If I get five good hours in a stretch I consider myself lucky. So, to bed by 10:30 or 10:45 after falling asleep in the livingroom. Lights out by 11:00. Hopefully to sleep until 4:00 or later. Then try to put myself back to sleep - so doze, awake, doze - until 6:00. I do not allow myself to get up before 6:00. That's a good night.

last night I was wide awake at 2:30 - that's just 3 1/2 hours of good sleep. Tried to get back to sleep. Gave up - put on the light and read for a half hour or more. Lights out - tried again, and again and managed several short naps until 5:45. Awake, waiting for 6:00. Bad cramp in right leg - leap out of bed and put my weight on it. It subsides. Crawl into bed and pull the blankets up. A bit later - cramp in left leg. Not too bad - I manage to massage it out. Relax. Wake at 7:00 and get up. Seelerman is done breakfast but the coffee-maker is ready and the newspaper beside my place.
(He can read a paper without messing it up - you should see it when I'm through with it - good thing he usually reads it first.)

Similar to me, really. If I wake up anytime after 5am, it becomes a struggle to go back to sleep given that 6:30 or so is when I normally wake up.

Early awakening has been a special missal to me and this I Eris and endure the don' of light by the dirty undercurrent ... us below as Heirs of de Levite ... something will arise after the absorbance of foreign energy ... unseen forces ... or invisible attractions? Thus heat floats as consequence of alloying or the "-ite" factor! So one gets that tye -ite sensation ...

One must brace for leaner times ... Joseph on the matter of former and later cows ... hynde ends?

Since the authorities have used up all the resources: whales, herring, kippurs, trees, etc ... and they don't know the needy desire to halt this emotional excess ...

Successful day.
Picked out carpet, Brought home for husband to review. He helped to whittle down choices. Reviewed paint swatches previously picked out and made a choice to go lighter. Got new paint swatch. Went to furniture store. Had excellent salesperson offer to help me to take drawer of dresser out into light and reviewed paint/carpet/ choices.

Set up docking station, including picking up cable for VGA to mini-display for monitor. Picked up TurboTax 2014.

Filed taxes from 2013 & some from 2014. More to be completed tomorrow. (gave up waiting for one set).

Pulled paperwork together for investment planning session later this week.

All in all, a rather successful first day of vacation.

Pinga - to each her own, but that seems to be a lot of work to be called 'vacation'. Vacation is lying on a beach, hiking in a wilderness area, visiting a different place, enjoying a sport, or just lying around at home visiting family, playing table games, relaxing and recharging.
I hope that you enjoy redecorating - I'm sure it can be a creative change from your usual activities. It's just not what I'd call a vacation.
But then - I'm retired. Every day is vacation.
Today I have grocery shopping, a church meeting (becoming Affirming), and book club. As well as getting my strength back after being sick for two weeks.

Vacation, for some of us, is not being at the office. I burned a week of vacation to repaint the house a few years ago. A few years before that, I burned one to do the landscaping on our property.

Awesome lot accomplished pinga! I've got a few things on my list for day off today ... including some vacation planning :). And to download the tax programme for this year - last year I started using "Simple Tax" which I really liked a lot for many reasons. Much much better than prior H&R Bloc programme I used for a couple of years.

Absolutely, Mendalla. During my work week, I usually don't make it home until 7pm and often later, and that is when I am in town. There is no time for painting. Weekends are filled up with family commitments and just keeping up.

So, a week at home to do serious sorting/purging is a treat, or to do things that required focus time, such as reno's, taxes, and so on, plus time for some good cooking and just being in the house with the guys.

I think I finally have a surgery date I might actually keep! They always seem to call at bad times, this time as I was out the door for a specialist's appointment. I often take it, feeling rushed. I decided not to deal with that today and just called back. Hopefully I can get all the other related appointments made in this time.
I get a bit annoyed it's up to me to juggle this all. Why they can't have a staff member get the appointments arranged? This way I don't need to call around because I can't get in quickly enough.
