Except for a short drive, Seelerman and I stayed home today, out of the heat. I can't bear heat. It was 32+ here on Canada Day with humidity making it feel like over 40. Unbearable! We put up our little portable airconditioner in the bedroom. For awhile we ran both - the old window one in the livingroom at one end of the house and the little one in the bedroom. It kept the place livable.
Today seems a bit milder so far.
I'm going to a barbeque at a cottage on a lake tonight - our Faith Development Committee and spouses are invited out to the minister's cottage for a short meeting and a friendly get-together before breaking for two months.
I've got to get potatoes boiling for a big potato salad. I have big red potatoes. Should I leave a bit of the skins on for colour and texture? Should I cube them? Or peal them completely and mash them? I have lots of eggs, celery and mild onions.

I say take it off! I like potato salad, but not with the skins, the texture is weird I think. I like them in mashed potatoes, but not the salad.

I was worried about how I would to today, and it looks like I should have been. I woke up feeling ok for the most part. Then I waited a little while to make phonecalls, my voice isn't 100%. I can also feel a bit of a lump when I pay attention. I woke up and Chemguy was gone, his cellphone is going straight to voicemail. He took sod out yesterday, I assume he's at the dump.

I think I'm getting better and not worse though. I should probably go prep the medication though and might wait till he's back for the IV. If it gets worse he will come back to a note saying I left for the hospital.

I love potato salad . . . personally I like it cubed, not smashed. I also like the skins, so I would leave them on too :). Can you share some here before you go to the party, seeler?

I'll add a coleslaw.

I see chansen added some emoticons . . . what a guy! He doesn't like them, yet he did the work so we could all enjoy them :notworthy::ROFLMAO:;):p:rolleyes::LOL:! (Love them!)

Canada Day started out cloudy, but turned into a nice day. Not too hot, but enjoyable. Today, on the other hand is going to be hot, and will be so for the rest of the week - mid to high 20's, then rain again on Sunday. This should make my flowers grow.

Hope Wednesday is a good day for everyone. ChemGal . . . glad you are working hard to take care of yourself as you make decisions about what you should or can do with your health issues. Hilary - whaz that under your nose - you are too young for those "hormonal" problems :D.

Pilgrims Progress - thinking of you ;).

Having a friend visit today - she used to live here and moved away a few years ago. We will have a nice afternoon in the Sunday - perhaps a little boatride. It will be nice to catch up.

It is a hilariously long grey moustache that I wore in honour of Mo'vember last year. I wore it to work on November 30 so that I could fit in with all the men who had been growing their 'staches throughout the month. It's especially funny because I am a receptionist; I get all sorts of interesting reactions! The best is when people pretend not to notice.

I got a phone call from my nurse before I could mix anything up. She never got the email, so she had a different date in mind. Chemguy got home shortly after. Things went well, except I hadn't eaten breakfast. We were about halfway through when I got hit by the dizziness which isn't too bad I guess. I'm kinda funny, their is a delay to when I go white. Once done, I laid down and immediately felt better Chemguy didn't think I was pale during the entire infusion, but commented on it while I was laying down.

My throat is all better now.

I made two big bowls - one for the barbeque, one for the Room. I hope you all like it. Crazyheart, I mixed mustard with the maionaise, and sprinkled paprika on top.
I actually made a huge bowl - my biggest mixing bowl - then transferred it a large salad bowl. It looked a bit skimpy in the huge bowl, but generously full in the salad bowl.

I 'liked' that your throat feels better. The rest of it sounds annoying.

Kimmio, the software has a 'draft save" by thread. So if you accidentally hit back or lose your status, the original post is there. Sometimes, I have accidentally posted, or started to post, left for a week and it is still there.

Ugh, I have no idea what's going on tomorrow. I talked to my doctor today - kinda surprising I rarely actually talk to him. He told me he would cancel the appointment tomorrow. I called the pharmacy I expected to have the prescription, they don't. Neither does my usual pharmacy. The hospital now has orders for me, they didn't this morning - the appointment wasn't cancelled. I'm also listed as a hard stick lol.

Last time my dentist was faxed the info about me using the mouthwash beforehand, etc. She doesn't have that information yet.

Everything related to my specialist is now closed, except for an emergency page. I don't want to actually use that.

Thanks, Pinga. That's what I figured out. If my phone dies while I'm typing I have to re-log in. And I might have forgotten about the post I started. I probably got an alert flag pop up and got distracted. :) I have found that'll immediately stop my thought and go check out the alert. ADD, maybe? Never been formally diagnosed but it wouldn't surprise me. ADD without the H factor.

Sitting in the kitchen at Tabitha's, with the breeze coming in the side window.
The sound of the stream can be heard as it flows past her house.....and encourages deer to come to the yard. Saw one yesterday morning, and again this morning. Fireworks for Canada Day didn't seem to scare them off too far, I guess.

As it is Tabitha's sanctuary, as compared to a stranger's it seems inappropriate to speak about it, but, it is a beautiful spot to both live in and visit. Tabitha's canoe in her pic is appropriate as wowzer, does Tabitha have some beautiful ones. Also have been able to hang out with Tab-kid, wishing he was coming with us..a really good guy.

tabitha is crazy busy getting ready for the trip, with last minute food shopping and packing and sorting.
i and friends are helping as we can....which sometimes means just keeping out of the way, so I am just updating my post, and saying hi to you folks.

the okanagan is beautiful, and we are so lucky that Tabitha is sharing her gifts with us in this way. Had a fabulous canoe trip yesterday, when she tested our skills, what combinations went together, gave some "you can do it" advice to us all, then had us enjoy watching turtles. We also climbed some crazy cliffs up to see see petroglyphs. (Something others were looking for ages for, our local experts took us straight up to. )

Watching her put a trip together, packing gear and food, is great. I am trying to learn and absorb by watching and helping, but, I have a sense it would take many years of preparing for groups to have the handle on the right number of calories, supplementing and adjusting that can be done -- espeially when you don't know folks well.
I am reminded of when my Mom said it was easier to make Christmas dinner without us in the kitchen, and it is good to watch someone who knows what they are doing, say, this...no....this...then choose the perfect size and arrangement for items.
The amount of food packing for 8 folks is also wild. Dinners, breakfasts, lunches, snacks, drinks, toilet paper, toiletries, dishes .....oh my goodness.
and the tents, and so on . so much has been done to prepare for this week.
