No, but I drink a lot of ginger tea?
I suppose that could help too.
I've read it helps lower cholesterol among other things but you shouldn't eat it if you're on blood thinners. Look it up and ask your doctor. I buy the ginger by itself from the grocery store in the sushi section. I like the taste but maybe some don't.

Beginning to smell like Christmas here.

Dressing prepped for assembly tomorrow
Carrots to be cleaned and put in slow cooker
Sweet potato casserole next
Cauliflower casserole to prep
Veggies to be cleaned.
Trifle ready to be assembled
Get it all done today, to cook tomorrow, and include on table on tuesday

Love Christmas dinner family gatherings

I like ginger but Mrs. M has cut back heavily on it in her cooking. Bothers her stomach or something. So we don't generally have it in the house and when we did, it was usually a chunk of root that she sliced from when needed.

Re: ginger. I love it but use very little. There's almost no point to buying it because that weird blue mold forms on it and it shrivels up.

I love the taste of it! Never had blue mold.

Have fun tomorrow with family, Merry Christmas!
Looks like we'll be off to church for the 2 o'clock service....there's 3 services 2, 4 and 6 and none tomorrow.

Spirit chat is so cool

And I can't believe how many churches there are here

Including a United Church :3

Ancient of Days indeed

Lots of ravens (who have a call I don't recognize...kinda musical)

A creek delta

Going to try for a Christmas dip in the lake tomorrow

Did someone say "spanakopita"??

Still waiting for the kids to let us know they are here. They are supposed to be coming today but never actually confirmed in spite of a couple texts asking about dinner tomorrow.

Merry Christmas to all as well!
German Christmas was yesterday and I was blessed with good company ( junior and dil) and many parcels from Germany. All my siblings have send something, even my brother who never gave me a present for as long as I can remember. He is i to woodworking and has made me a beautiful nutmeg grinder and sent along four jars of home made and home grown jam. I am sure that wasn’t exactly what customs allows, but it got here no problem.
I also unpacked an adventure in a box from @Delightful Life - a journey around the world in several forms and colours. I don’t think any secret Santa gift has been as exiting to unpack. Really hit the kid in me.

Today I am taking my old neighbour to visit her husband in the hospital for Christmas lunch. They are offering turkey dinner in the cafeteria which we can take upstairs. He will not get out of bed. He hasn’t been motivated to do so but once in the past week and he is either an assist of two or a lift- and with physio off today and staffing reduced, even trying to get him out with an electric lift would be too much to ask - and I think he would not take the lift well, either, he is too confused. Her daughter has been taking the wife to visit every day, but will stay home today. The daughter‘s son died this year in a car accident and she’s got enough to deal with on Christmas. They have two more adult children. The wife is not doing well, she forgets to eat and is overly busy moving stuff around in her home- compensating for the stress. She does not realize that hubby will not get back on his feet. He has no will to live left and his memory is so poor that he can’t think about the future. Potentially, he could return as bedcare- but for that they would have to accept three times a day home care and also empty out the second bedroom which is stuffed full with stuff, furniture ,boxes of things, which she has a hard time to let go. The room is so full one can barely walk into it.
Christmas day will not be the right time to talk about all of this.
After lunch, I will take her back to “ eggnog by the fireplace” social time in her facility. She hates eggnog, so I have some hot chocolate.
once I have her settled back in the appartment, I am heading to my friend’s house where we spent Christmas day for the last 20+ years. As always, we have turkey and watch the Griswold family. This year, two foreign students of their daughter and one Nfld friend who is alone on Christmas will also join us. My friend is a perfect party planner, so we will have games, trivia, prizes and lots of fun. Everyone was to bring one small item that is part of the prize and is Christmas vacation themed with a quote on it- I got Christmas lights and an extension cord-“ drumroll, please!”

Oh yum! Baked goodies and coffee in Christmas mugs! Thanks so much for being open today @Redbaron

Good morning and Merry Christmas! Though, to be honest, it doesn't look very Christmas-y here. Kind of grey, damp, and misty. Oh well, it's the spirit that counts.

Kids got in safely from Ottawa (they're at her mom's place) and we'll get together with them today.

Oh dear Mrs. anteater. How sad a picture. May there be joy found in that hospital room.

Your party sounds delightful. How good to have such a friend. May laughs abound

As an alternate to our never ending desires at Christmas ... would empathy fit in? Consider it just a passing of th' aught ...

It sometimes keeps coming back to Mei and Maiah ... Yah ... that's ide !

Merry Chrismas everyone. Our day is just starting here. I made a strata for breakfast. It involves croissants, eggs, back bacon, mushrooms onions and cheese in a casserole. Writing this made me remember I didn't put garlic and stuff in the eggs. Ah well, each strata is different.

I'm making pumpkin trifle to take to my sister's today. Any leftovers will be taken to my aunt and uncle's tomorrow. My nephew is here so we are going up to visit aunt and uncle and cousin(s) with him tomorrow.
