I attended a local production of "Fiddler on the Roof" last night. It was so well done...perfect comic timing. As well as perfect, slow, emotional moments. As an amateur group, not everyone is a gifted singer, but the main actors were phenomenal. I'm always pleasantly surprised by the talent we have in our fair city.
I needed last night's escape from my reality because my two sisters and I have come to some differences in understanding with my mother's care. I am backing away a bit out of self-protection. One sister is very good at being hurtful, so I need to self-protect. I'm still helping Mom a lot, but I choose to do less communication with my sisters if it is setting me up to be the punching bag for whatever angst they are feeling.

I think I first saw it as a high school production. Pretty good show, too, given that it was all amateurs. Even the director and other production team were teachers and students. I later was in the orchestra pit for a production of Annie Get Your Gun.

Local theatre is so fun, especially when friends or acquaintances are in the cast. It sounds like a perfect escape from stressful family stuff.

Lean into love is good advice for us all.

We're waking up to more than gentle rain and less than heavy. It's a nice sound on the roof.

Kudos to Telus customer service! The rep I spoke to had to take the bill changes she made to her supervisor for approval. She phoned me today for follow-up and said they had been approved. In addition, they were waiving the $60 connection fee. Now instead of a one-time $100 or so charge it's down to about $20. Yay Telus.

We've been using Telus as our mobile provider at work for about a decade and have generally been quite happy. Now we're moving our VOIP and fax lines over to a solution from them as well (which, I guess, is a good indication of our being happy). I quite prefer them to Bell and Rogers, though I guess that could be interpreted as damning with faint praise given some of the things I say about those two. :cautious:

I won't switch now. I know I'll have complaints about any other provider too. Telus and Bell have the best coverage. Roger's is the shits outside the centre of the universe.....southern Ontario, Lower Mainland of BC etc.

I think the one bit of good news out of the Shaw takeover is that Videotron, the big Quebecois provider, is getting Freedom, which finally gives them some presence outside Quebec and Ottawa. My son has been using them since moving to Ottawa and is pretty happy.

it's funny, when i was looking at internet here, and having so many problems, peoplekept suggesting companies to check out.
Well, many of those more obscure companies are running off the backbones of the larger players --
some focus better on niche markets, or have nicer front ends, or offer deals in off hours, but, the technology that they run on is often the same as a big player

Yeah, I use Teksavvy with a Rogers loop connecting me. They use co-location in Rogers data centers for their cable offerings. OTOH, I find their tech support much easier to deal with than Rogers themselves. If there's a problem, they deal with getting Rogers out.

Got the new phone set up. It was a challenge to find out how to connect the new SIM card. It was simple to connect. They need better directions on that

Good morning! Local theatre, family struggles, cell phone setup, customer service that actually serves, and all the other stuff that make up our days, we bring it with us to the Coffee Cart for conversation, support, and hot beverages. All is ready, come join in!

Creedence I am told can be translated to "I believe" and I do believe the sky is leaking out there ... thus catharsis ... the wash ...

Love homemade cinnamon buns. They were our historical Christmas morning breakfast. I'd get them to the last rise the night before then take them out early in the morning. My recipe is much beloved: from the CanLit Cookbook: Cynthia Wine's Giant Cinnamon buns. Near Mowat's recipe for creamed mice on toast, LOL.

Looking for legit German gingerbread cookie recipes. This appears very variable.

There are so many of them. You can have some that are baked on a cookie sheet and and willbe a square type , then there are cookie type gingerbread recipes. The old type of recipes call for a different type of rising agent - I never heard of in Canada, so don’t know what is is called in english. But there are recipes with baking powder as well. The difference to Canadian recipes is that you weigh every ingredient, Germans don’t use measuring cups. So you need a kitchen scale. Let me know if you want a recipe or more from me. You should also ask him what his favourites are. And then, there are classics you just have to buy in a store that carries German cookies, like Dominosteine and jam filled chocolate hearts.

I skyped with my sister in Germany. She has had cats for many years until she had to put the last one down about two years ago. Then thought that they would like to travel and the one person who was cat sitting when they were gone can no longer do that. Now she was telling me that “ the world is in such a bad state, thet we decided we need some cats”. For everyone who has cats, this is a very true statement. They are getting kittens. I am all exited and preparing a parcel for her with “ all things cats”.

Good morning! The first Sunday of Advent has arrived, and along with it, thoughts of cinnamon buns and gingerbread. (Both of those go wonderfully with coffee or tea.) Also a quick shout out to cats and other furries, who can help make the world a better place. We gather round the Coffee Cart to chat about what's on our minds, to find community, and to partake in hot beverages. Everything is ready, come on in!
