oooh, found a hotel, more expensive but within 3 miles of hospital -- that's a win, they have a shuttle, etc, so....much easier

edit: dang, wrong location.
Our hospital has a house run mostly by volunteers, offering overnight stays for $25 per person. Often used by patients who come from far and have an early appointment and their relatives who take them home the next day. They just added several more rooms to it.

Saskatoon have a couple of places fairly close to the biggest hospital that offer a clean room, shared bathroom, shared kitchen for a fraction of the cost of a hotel. It is where we stay when we have to sleep overnight. In our younger days we could walk to the hospital but alas no longer comfortable for me. The overnight parking is free though, so that is a good bonus.

The Rotarians operate a hotel near CHEOPS and the Ottawa General and there is a residence building connected to the Ottawa Civic Hospital for patients and family members who live farther than 40km from Ottawa

Tell me about it. I can think of worse places to lose oneself. My German neighbour in Kitchener made them. Yummers!!

I attended a German Wedding a time back that started the reception with a long table of various cakes and wine about 2-3 hrs before the main course ... the implications were beyond a group already passed out!

We have another cloudy, cool day today. The third in a row. Rather chilly for the people in the fishing tournament on Tobin Lake over Friday and Saturday. One of my grandsons and his partner placed 8th and won $2850. Yep - there is big money in these big fishing tournaments! I didn't check to see what the top prize was .

Sitting in Muskegon, mi awaiting to get on the ferry to Milwaukee.

Thankful for an uneventful drive.

Will be glad to see my family member tomorrow afternoon. (A good night's sleep, then more driving.

Was awake at 5 this morning. Mind racing of things to do.

Thankful for kind pharmacist who hooked me up with meds for the month that i think I will be away.

Thankful that i could afford the extras: emergency medical insurance, accommodation, ferry to reduce drive

Thankful for spouse who helped with aligning stuff, ensuring car was packed well

Thankful for son who came with me

Thankful for other son who is figuring out new plans for their travel since grandma had to cancel

We went to Goderich yesterday and ate at the Station restaurant on the beach. Coconut shrimp appetizers, fantastic haddock fish and chips and creme de brulee (sp?) desert...yummy. Beautiful day and a glorious beach that has been wonderfully restored after the shore damage a few years ago. Three connected beach areas with a 10ft wide boardwalk from beginning to end. Watched some huge ocean liners pulling out from the harbour and numerous sailboats. What a vibrant beach at the bottom of a cliff and a fantastic view from the top.
The Celtic Roots Festival was in full swing....ahhhh!
Such a calming day.

Such good memories of Goderich and the Celtic festival. I'm glad it still continues.
It's an annual event!
Not sure if the station restaurant was there when you were last there, but they brought the old train station in the town, down the long and winding hill to the beach and created a restaurant out of it, very close to the water. Lovely patio and inside.
