I don't get weather alerts either. Again, my radio is on every hour I'm awake, so I hear them, when I'm awake. And if a hurricane takes me away when I'm sleeping, well, then, it will be a surprise.

We have Shaw internet at home. They tried to sell me their mobile service. I told them I was not interested as long as there's any risk of them being taken over by Rogers.
Actually, Shaw Mobile is a sticking point in the deal. The competition bureau doesn't want Rogers to get it but they are having trouble getting someone else to buy it. Videotron was involved at one point but that seems to have ended. They have a mobility division but it only operates in Quebec and the Ottawa Valley in Ontario (and maybe the Atlantic??) so acquiring Shaw Mobility would let them go national, or closer to it. My son uses them and seems happy.

Hate is a strong word ... like Jude! Few understand of what I's peak ... could be their immersion in it ... power!

When we all are moved to a central spine or backbone of a single corporation ... can you envision cuts and further chaos?

Is there a prior vision as pre science? Not likely ... they do not see what's coming ... anon!
Agree. Hate us too strong a word. When we terminated our account because we were moving, Bell made that a terrible experience. I strongly dislike being treated like that.

I'm skeptical after living in more remote parts of the country for so long. I also went on a bus trip to Whitehorse and Bell and Telus customers had service in the wildest spots along the Alaska Highway. I'll see how it plays out.

To be clear, that statement was about Videotron, not Shaw. I have no idea what Shaw service is like and don't plan to find out

I was “ exposed” twice at work this week ( medical mask on, no visor).Tomorrow was supposed Junior's engagement party. I met him at work today because I had just bought a gazebo at Canadian Tire across from his work place and he lugged the two big packages onto his trailer and into my shed. Few hours later he tests himself positive for covid. A coworker had called in this morning that he was positive. They don’t have sick time and he had just started this job six weeks ago. I said if his boss wants him at work,he should tell every customer that he has covid and ask if they really want him to drive and fix their car. I offered to pay him the $800 he makes in a week so he can stay home.
I supposed I will be testing myself on a daily basis now. I feel bad for my house guest, having dodged Covid for two and a half years and now putting her at risk.

Good morning! Are we all here? Did we survive the Great Internet Shutdown? I don't mean to make light of it, for it did bring a wide swath of disaster (or at least inconvenience) to a lot of people whose phones, TV, and Interac cards suddenly didn't function. Also, we remember the pandemic, and how it's still spreading, though certain parties want to make light of it. Anyway, we gather here in spirit round the virtual coffee cart, and join the conversations and community. All is ready.

I had Xplorenet for a bit before I moved here. It wasn't Xplorenet when I got there, they bought a local ISP and kept the same infrastructure (rooftop transceivers on each home/ building that the old ISP served). Worked OK, so long as it didn't rain, snow, hail, got windy, etc. Gave a new meaning to 'fair weather friend.'

Allowed transference of the mute ... and much went silent! Provided a space for thought ... many disbelieve in transference ... why they cannot learn alien matter and immaterial stuff, considered a virtue ... being thick and dense as a forest Gump ... isn't that rich? May resemble a swamp ... mythologically it was once said that downtown Rome was a miasma ... and one has to ask what's that? Albeit questioning anything is forbidden ... GOP despises hymn ...

So, Junior had felt crappy last night and had a positive rapid test, but two negative tests this morning. I think, we can probably go by the first one. However, he has pretty good energy and has been working in the yard all day. I thought that was my exposure. Have booked a PCR for Monday afternoon. Then a friend called who we had an hour or more a meal and conversation together on Thursday. She just tested positive too. Well, that was a good chance to catch it. It is just coming at the wrong time. My neighbour is supposed to move into her new place on Monday, meeting up with her husband, who had been living somewhere else the last week.
We are making plans how we would isolate together or separate. Will do rapid test again tomorrow.

With no more payment for sick days, junior will likely go back to work on Monday. I have offered him to pay his wages so he he can isolate. The garage work is too warm- they are not wearing masks. Just thinking how he would spread it to customers. He says he doesn’t understand how the government could be so strict at first and now allow everything.

I don't understand why they aren't at least keeping up the sickness benefit. Why should it matter if someone was hospitalized in Feb with COVID vs today?

Oh, he wasn’t hospitalized. You could practically apply for it after one week of sickness for the week before and only needed proof of your income on request. Maybe too many people cheated. You would get $450 per week I think up to a maximum of $2000?That’s better than nothing. They discontinued it in May.

People are hospitalized though, and I don't think that timeframe should matter.
Why does it matter that someone was in bed in Jan for a week vs. is in bed for a week now?
We now have the most contagious variant and it seems like we are discriminating based on when people are sick.

Good morning! For family health issues and financial matters caused by them, for recovery from the one major telecommunication company's oopsie, for all the other topics, ideas, and thoughts, the coffee cart is ready to host your conversations. All is ready, come on in.

The whole world needs to get sick to reduce the populace ... as they are defined as making up the demos portion ...

The alternate group loves to see something fall out of their tree ... and can't see them selves there ... fallacy?

How many times have you been told not to bring bad news ... thus it creeps on us unconsciously!

Has something to do with WOKE and/or stunned ... blackout? Sects 'll do it ...

Hello Sunday to all. It was a quiet Saturday night here - several sets of our friends with whom we would usually gather are all sick :-( Some with COVID, others with exposures, others with a very nasty respiratory virus. So I did some puttering, watched a couple of episodes of Mrs. Maisel (so good!) and here's a real thrill - cleaned the footbeds on my favourite sandals! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: I've never thought to clean them - but trust me - they needed it! I'm amazed at how well they turned out - almost like new :-)

Today we're continuing our 'spruce up the porch' efforts - I've washed the swivel chairs; mate is painting the front door. We recently refurbished our porch swing - wow it looks great now if I do say so myself! And I've been painting a huge floorcloth which will grace the floor - on the home stretch now with applying the many finish coats. I found a little wooden tray at the Sally Ann so I painted that with some of the paints used in the floor cloth ... can't wait to see the porch all 'put together' soon! Weather is glorious! Stay well everyone.
