Spring seems very far away when one awakes to -22.

Lost a dear old colleague yesterday, who was not at all old. Nicest guy around, long time department head of Human Resources Development at the College. Great mentor to many, a ton of fun (always a grin on his face). Lovely wife (who also worked at the College) and girls. Had retired to New Brunswick a few years ago, but had stayed connected to many of us via Facebook. Pancreatic cancer. Only 62.
Sorry to hear that BetteTheRed.

Good morning! As we celebrate finished projects and speculate on the evidence of alien invasion, let us gather round the coffee cart, where virtual warming beverages await. Come and get it.

I find evidence of all that around me is alien ... strange to me that they don't like to be looked at ... consequence of King Leer, or his nemesis?

Then if you don't look at them they are upset and boiling ... like a caul 'd Ron ... demanding vessel required for warming f(rogues) ... thus a function of how we get cooked ... careful how you blow across it, stir it, or even just watch it! Everywhere temptations and witches ... who dune it?

One is not allowed to say ... but ... prepare to be shafted at random --- MU cis ... relief in the Wahl? Some say mural ... I'sur ral ...

The truckers drove through our fair city last night and this morning on their way to Ottawa. My daughter thinks they are great; one son is disgusted by them. They are both a little upset with each other for their differing opinions. More polarizing. Not sure what the other son thinks....afraid to ask.

LOL. Maybe we should get the aliens to abduct the truckers. A bit of probing in an orbiting flying saucer might shut them up for a bit. :alien:

Must text my son tomorrow and see if they run into it at all, though I think they have only been going out for shopping. His classes are all online at the moment and their gym is closed.

Good morning! As the freedom convoy rolls on, it's a question of whether to build a bomb shelter or make popcorn... maybe a few alien abductions would make the event more interesting. Anyway, the coffee cart is up and running, and the air popper is ready just in case. Help yourself.

Explains schism in the house ... the word said ... love will break up the establishment ... especially when excessive! Overblown desires ...

Would alienated truckers be mother truckers ... they go on further ... attempting to prevent their children from doing themselves in ... self assimilation as self engrossed? Isn't that the greatest Bull ... MOG-wise!

Brrrrrr. We hit -25 here early this morning and it is still below -20. At least it's sunny with no chance of snow so I won't have to go out in it to shovel. Hit me with some hot tea, Irish Breakfast preferred.

Been catching up on other stories in the comp I entered (see my sig or the Wonderart thread). Some good stuff there including one that went in a direction I had thought about. If I was a judge, I'd probably have myself in fourth or fifth right now but I have to read a few more. That said, I tend to be a bit self-deprecating. A bit worried about the turnout. Past few comps we've been running around 16 entries and this one is at 9 with only a week left before the deadline.

Too cold to snow Mendalla! But brilliantly sunny :-) Good day for you to stay inside & catch up on that reading.

I'm going to make a pot of chilli to share, and wind some yarn. I 'may' have overindulged my yarn passion this week after unexpectedly finding some gorgeous, colourful, soft 100% Merino wool yarn at a local salvage place - SO cheap ($3.50 & $5.00!) I could not resist! Now I have a LOT (like dozens!) of skeins to wind. But I am set for all my knitting projects for a while to come! LOL Do you ever drop in a salvage places?

Two nights ago I took my big pile of hand-knit scarves out & gifted them to my neighbourhood by tying them around posts along the Lakeshore - each bearing a tag saying "Take this Scarf - if you're cold or if like it. Chase the Chill in (neighbourhood name). A gift from a Knitting Neighbour. Stay warm. Stay Safe". This is the 7th year I've been involved in doing this - through the church except for the last year & this year when they suspended the initiative due to COVID. A wooly random act of kindness & love of neighbour.

Wow. I hammered out most of a new story today. 4300ish words and I still need to add a denouement, I think. Feels like it needs some closure even though the climax is over and the major plot resolved. It's a sequel to "The Healer's Secret" for those who read that one. There's a sentence in that story that was a bit of a throwaway line but I have been planning to use it as the hook for a new story almost since I finished that one. It won't be published soon. It needs copious editing and I have another story done that will go up first. Plus I am not sure when I can start using the computer again after my eye surgery. Definitely will be taking a break on Monday (surgery day) but I'll see what the doc says at my one day follow-up on Tuesday.

We seem to have a winter storm every weekend- last weekend was 40 cm, this time was even more and snowdrifts higher than my snow blower. I cleared eight neighbour’s driveways in 2.5 hours. Then came the snowplough and put probably a meter of snow in front of them all. Not going to do that today, as heavy winds are forecasted and some rain or mixed precipitation. Hope the neighbour two doors down will come with thank you cookies again, they were delicious.

Good morning! A little late today, but internet issues at home, so doing this quickly from work. Hot beverages n a cold weekend; the freedom convoy effects to discuss, and tea and coffee to consume. Go for it.

Was called over to my 91 year olds at midnight- he has slid out of bed and was on the floor. I couldn‘t get him up either, so we called EHS for pick up. Thankfully, he wasn’t hurt or sick and they just got him to the bathroom and back to bed. With the meter of snow in front of the driveway, that would have been a midnights job for me to clear the way. When I got out there today, some other neighbour must have picked up my idea and the driveways I cleared yesterday were already done, so I got busy at the four remaining ones at the other end of the street.

You are a wonderful neighbour @Mrs.Anteater - a true expression of love your neighbour - and others seem to be following your example - 'snow-blower church'!

My son has been infected with Covid. Day 1 today, terrible headache. He is unvaccinated. His GF who works in a group home tested negative so far and is asked to work until she either has symptoms or tests positive. She is vaccinated twice. Dropped off supper and a bag of soups ( he asked for). This week will be a worrysome.
