I just got an alert on my phone for a missing person, not to approach. Family concerned for their wellbeing. I didn't click the link. I looked up the name and it is in the local news today. So, it was legit. I signed up for emergency alerts a year or two ago, but don't remember ever getting one. I get a lot of text spam.

This person doesn't frequent my current neighbourhood. But they look pretty average - no immediately distinguishing features that would stand out to me.

It's drizzling here tonight. I am safe and warm, critters have moved indoors. Had a phone call from a son, elsewhere, this aft, similarly safe and warm.

All is well, and all manner of things will be well.

I'm confused. The alert included a number to call if seeing the person? Not just the phone the police?
The text included 2 links - possible phishing or trojan links I'm guessing, tricking people into clicking for more info on the missing person - but there was content in the text itself saying call 9-1-1 if you see the person, and it mentions their name and age. I looked to see if there was anything out in the news, about this missing person, and there is. I never clicked the links in the message. I checked the phone number later. It's been used in other scams. So it's using real emergency news about a person to perpetrate a scam.

Weird, I know the alerts sometimes have links so that one can bring up a picture, more details, etc.

It was slick. The first was a hyperlink. The second looked like some possibly weird link. I think if it was legit, the phone number or name of number holder, would be clearly legit. The same number has been traced to several text spam scams. I don't trust many texts anymore. They're getting more frequent, just like email scams, now. Which means I may have deleted legitimate texts and announcements from people, too.

Yes, Princess Margaret Hospital. It’s so well known that I forget not everyone would understand. He did well. Just a blood work check up. And to me, all looks good

PMH is one of the foremost cancer hospitals in the world. And that is great for us here in Canada. But. It’s very unsettling to be in a hospital where everyone has the same basic disease. He goes every three months and the stress of build up to each visit upsets him. Now we are good for another two and half months

tough about your scooter Kimmio. I hope a new battery Solves it. Doesn’t feel like a very long life for a battery and all the chemicals and disposal issues they have. Maybe it needs a service check up

Btw, yesterday I dropped off a six pack of trendy beer in those two guys' driveway with a thank you note on a piece of scrap paper - and my phone number saying they're welcome to come over for a "Boulevard" beer - a new term around here - in our backyard (it's big) with my housemates (landlords are musical, my older step brother plays guitar, built some of his own instruments, paints, sculpts - and his son, my nephew is about their age and a cool guy. I hope that was neighbourly and not weird. They live just over a block away. It would be nice to make friends with them even though they're a bit younger. I enjoyed hanging out with them. I'm not expecting anything.

Happy Birthday NancyGrandy!

Nice touch to reach out like that Kimmio.

I'm having a quiet day. Some knitting planning; a zoom meeting; early supper & then participating in a workshop on what white people need to bring to the anti-racism work. It's the first of 3 seminars - should be interesting.

We just came back from a lunch in town with my sister. Now we're waiting to hear from friends who are coming by for a visit.

I found myself involved in a discussion on FB about how "Pinktober" affects women with breast cancer. That lead me to think of a documentary I saw several years ago about the marketing around this. This is the link of you're interested. Pink Ribbons Inc Please watch where you contribute to pink marketing. The money may not go where you think it will.

Welcome to Thursday. The coffee cart is up and functioning. Let us escape for a few moments from the rush of the world and the 'shocking' revelations of presidential lying about the Covid situation, with warming beverages.

Of all the lies I hope someone sets a cold beer in front of me to dull my cognizance of what goes on that many cannot see ... typical unseeing faith as it fades?

A few of them could give me vapours and cloud my psyche as it did the knowledge of that aulde*MS*is ...

*A cold beer (a red ale, possibly Hobgoblin) is set in front of Luce*

Fall is happening here, and I'm just not...I refuse to put the furnace on before Oct 1, but damn, extra socks are necessary.

Still have central air conditioning on here. I don't think it's come on for 2 days, though.

The heat has been on here for a few days, not that i actually ran today (we were above 25 for a high).
I was way too cold some mornings. We've been getting close to 0 for lows a few times, cold enough for heat on in the house.
ACs are still set up (window units) but haven't been on, although I considered turning it on today. Even when the highs get to the same point it's not so bad with the shorter hours of daylight. It's funny how quickly it becomes noticeable, it gets dark so much sooner already!

It got up to 30 or so here. It's unseasonably warm. I didn't get to enjoy it. I spent the afternoon at the hospital. I was told to show up at noon. My procedure to remove my port was scheduled for 1:55. The procedure is not a lot different from a dental appointment. The doc gives freezing then the procedure takes about 15 minutes. Still, you have to prepare as if you're having major surgery. I ate at around 10 last night so when I got in to the OR around 4pm I was pretty hungry. I was wobbly-kneed hungry by the time I left around 5. Dinner at Original Joes was most delicious. I have officially been de-ported.
