I do remember many decades ago a doc commenting that using all the tech to investigate is sometimes not a great thing - when we go looking, we find 'stuff' that's 'not normal' - but was not problematic for the individual until 'discovered' on the scans/tests etc. I think there is some wisdom in that. I believe we all have lots of stuff that's not quite 'normal' but we have managed to adapt & live functionally nevertheless. It's a bit of the same as a line from that movie I saw recently "The Farewell" when someone comments that in China people don't die of cancer, they die of fear once they know they have cancer, hence a practice of concealment of diagnosis.

And hey ChemGal - if any of us compared ourselves to "baseline" from the 20s - well, I can't imagine any of us would really fare well!

I do love Bette's comment about being a 'shiny unicorn' tho! Love unicorns!!

The thing is I'm not having these tests just as general screens, I am having these tests because of symptoms.
As for the baseline from my 20s, it's more so that the obvious change could be seen. 2008 is when I got the flu shot, so it's not just from now to my early 20s, it's from before and after a big change, and how that did improve a bit but got worse. And I don't know how much of a cognitive change there should be from 20s to 30s. That doesn't seem typical to me at all.

Oh, also I did have an MRI in 2009-ish. There was something a bit off about my spinal cord, like the diameter, My brain was fine then though, no mention of anything off. So things have changed.

I've always been abnormal and below the normal executive layers ... thus looking up regards the chaos in the chitz of a brain ... a place of s**t zdorms as a parallel to these people that don;t know the difference about how the 3 parts of the tricolour should function unitarianly in theory with an ide-AL ... humble and mire-y?

Even the eliminated light of Christianity can see into the dark ... because there it was buried and sub dude as hombre that was't within the prescribed terms of desiderata ...

Dark? That's obtuse, obscure, or even occult ... to create the blanketing case for covering something of negative nature up ... and what's more negative to emotions than ponders there. Life as normal is just conformed ... shaped up by cons?

Be a pro at out riding ... thus they ran off ...

Good morning, all! The coffee cart is here to celebrate the coming weekend, and to mark Groundhog Day. Enjoy and celebrate.

Good morning. Thanks for being quiet in here. I got to sleep in and enjoy not being woken up by my hand and arm. My neck has been cranky causing pins and needles in my hand, and pain in my shoulder. Dare I hope it's getting better?

My neck has been cranky causing pins and needles in my hand, and pain in my shoulder.

You have my sympathies. My neck gets like that, too, though it doesn't usually go lower than the shoulder. Does give me tension headaches sometimes, though.

Hello friends! Thanks for the beverage cart Redbaron - you are such a reliable and generous host!

I'm just home today, reading a bit; will take apart the jigsaw we finished yesterday - a beautiful pic of Manarolo, one of the picturesque villages in Cinque Terre. We can see in the photo a place we had lunch in 2006, on the terrace, overlooking the harbour. Our son was here this week & helped a bit too - and he was just there too in Sept/Oct this year - so it was a good catalyst for discussion & sharing of memories.

No snow, but a bit colder & gray today - so far winter has been quite manageable. We will leave to go south in three weeks from this Sunday! Looking forward to walking the beach & enjoying the breeze under palm trees :-) We have never done this sort of vacation ... so it should be interesting!

I had a sleep-in, of sorts, myself. After Jim delivered the dog back (they walk for 30-45 minutes Mon to Fri at 7:25), I went back to sleep and didn't wake until 11. I've been fighting a head cold, so probably just what was needed.

This is chronic. Usually if I look after it, I have no problems. Frankly, I'm surprised it has taken so long to be cranky because it is my stress barometer. I've had quite the year and now my neck is grumpy. I'm encouraged that it feels better today.

Glad you're feeling better today. Guess your neck took a year off, giving you time to attend to other issues ... now catching up on lost grumpiness time!

I have the report, feeling better about the cyst, I'm fairly certain that's related to my sinuses which I had already suspected on the phonecall but the location wasn't communicated. My doctor was emphasizing more that I didn't need to worry about it being cancer (after this last fall) rather than the cause. I'll confirm that with my ENT, not sure if I'll just wait for the scheduled appointment in the summer or call sooner.
The other changes are more of a concern but nothing really to do now unless I get a clear increase in symptoms related to them. With all the MRIs I will be having anyway I hope I can tack on a brain one at some point as it adds less than 10 minutes onto the appointment and I would like to see if this is at least stable, or if the changes progress.

Greetings, all! Coffee's ready and water is heated. Happy Saturday!

I bought our tickets to Germany today. Leaving on the 12 th. Terribly expensive to go this time of the year., the cheapest connection was $1550. More convenient connections would have been $1100 one way.
Mother is holding her blood pressure at 160 by taking five medications for BP alone ( and probably 15 more for her heart and pain.). She had to stop eating for one of the tests they made and the pressure was back up to 200.
I bought a whole lot of hand sanitizer and wipes today. Not looking forward to the travel over two major airports.
But it will be nice to travel with junior and girlfriend.
I even potentially have a girl from work moving in with the cat. She lives 1.5 hours away from work and travels every day. She will enjoy the 15 minute commute.

Ouch. I am always amazed at how expensive it is to go to Europe vs. Asia nowadays. Before the Wuhan virus shut things down, I think AC was advertising return to Shanghai for $700-800.

Nice that you are all able to travel together. If it's any consolation, I have heard ID specialists here say that you are really very unlikely to get coronavirus just travelling through an airport or other public places - they seem to think more sustained contact is necessary for transmission. At least that was the last I heard. Lots of hand sani is always a good idea, along with increased mindfulness about not touching one's face.
