They are here in south eastern manitoba and they go ballistic when I neglect to refill the feeders ... plenty of good flowers around ... why ... I wonder ... do they seem to prefer white sugar water if it is available?

Sounds human, they prefer junk food.
 
We had a nice visit to Comox today. We bought a few things and enjoyed some music. We caught up with some people we knew up north and who now live on the island. It was a nice day. I will sleep well tonight.

I'll put out some nice flowers too - maybe we will have some hummingbirds stop by for a snack! I'm heading out to my garden now to spend a little time in worship with Mother Nature in a nice shady spot - with my coffee handy too! Thanks Redbaron!
 
Good morning. I'm off to breakfast with one of my favourite nurses from my former place of employment. Thanks for the coffee and doughnut as a filler before the real thing. Happy Sunday.
 
Ugh, I'm tired. Went to Calgary for my Mother In Law's death anniversary. Shortly after arriving I found out my great Aunt died that day (expected, she was in palliative care). Chemguy and I were separate for a while in Calgary, was nice to at least catch up with a friend. I found out after getting back some issues with his Dad, he's going to try to work with him to change some behaviours/maybe convince him to seek out some professional help.
And about an hour ago I discovered some breakthrough bleeding. Appears to have stopped, very minor. But that hasn't happened in a very long time, like almost a decade. So now I need to figure out if it's worth seeing a doctor about, but I can't make an appointment tomorrow anyway, so at least have some time to think about it.

Little good news to share – all week I've been worrying about my cousin. She has been taking chemo for breast cancer. Her husband called me and told me that he and she had been admitted to the hospital with a bad cough. Diagnosed with pneumonia she was put in intensive care. Sons came home, and the daughter lives here. They sat with her night and day – no other visitors.
When I called the house was a few days later, her husband was too upset and worried to talk much.
Today I phoned the oldest son's cell number. How is your mom? "She is coming along, would you like to talk to her."
Wow! He was at the hospital with her, and she was well enough to talk a few minutes. She expects to get out of the intensive care in a day or so and will receive receive visitors for short periods in a few days. Thanks be for doctors and medical people. Thank God for Medicare.

You may have guessed that my my cousin and I are very close.
 
Wow Chemgal. I hope you feel better soon and that the bleeding is sorted out.

Good news Seeler. I had pneumonia too and they refused to give me a treatment because it could lead to what happened with your cousin. Her version would be pretty nasty. I'm glad to hear she's on the mend. When she's back on her feet she might be interested in our Canadian FB support group for women with breast cancer. If she is, just ask and I'll get you the link.

We're moving back to our old site in this park today. It's so nice to have pretty close to normal energy levels for the task.

happy holiday Mon everyone. I am puttering-doing laundry some quilting, some unpacking-but really taking the long weekend off the "must do" chores around here.
 
Spend two hours staking out the fence. Hope to drill the post holes on the weekend of the 17 th. Junior had to work today and will have to work half a day that Saturday. Buying more supplies for it tomorrow. Hope to get to go for a paddle before returning to work on Wednesday. My German friends are coming on Thursday. It is ver dry and no showers forecasted until Friday. Three days off always make my energy come back, which a regular weekend often does not. Feel privileged that we have holidays and weekends and dental plans and retirement plans.

I've started listening to a book from the library. So far so good. It's called "Ordinary Grace" by William Kent Krueger.
 
Just got a call from Toyota saying that they had someone interested in buying a 2014 Toyota Camry. Would I like to come in and talk about an offer? I said...no, I'm retired, and can't afford a new car so I will be keeping this one for awhile. I wanted to say: No, I like this car fine, and plan on driving it into the ground! My next car will be a used car, if I live that long. I wonder if Toyota will be so kind then and do the looking for me?
