I have heard of real estate agents doing things like that but never car dealers. I know they will check other dealers in their group if someone has a very specific year or colour in mind, but never heard of them cold calling a customer to try to get one. Supply must be tight for Camrys from that era or something.

Just got a call from Toyota saying that they had someone interested in buying a 2014 Toyota Camry. Would I like to come in and talk about an offer? I said...no, I'm retired, and can't afford a new car so I will be keeping this one for awhile. I wanted to say: No, I like this car fine, and plan on driving it into the ground! My next car will be a used car, if I live that long. I wonder if Toyota will be so kind then and do the looking for me?
I think these calls are just a sales ploy to get you to come in & buy a new vehicle.

Just learned yesterday that my friends husband ( arriving Thursday) is allergic to cat hair. Spend half the day cleaning and tidying up my bedroom which has laminate floor, as I don’t think the carpeted floor in the guest room would be a good idea. There went my day off. Sometimes really would like to be retired. Or rich. Still have to do the common area tomorrow before picking them up on Thursday.
( did I tell you that my son gave me a mug for christmas that stated: “ Everything tasts better with cat hair in it”. ).
It was good though to do a thorough cleaning. Came across a couple of things I remembered I wanted to read.

Oh dear - that made for a busier day than you had planned!! Hopefully he will be comfortable :-)

I hope he's bringing allergy meds too. Seems rather important to come up now, but it sounds like you're on it.

Good morning, all! Coffee, tea and more is ready and waiting. Help yourself. (For those who season with cat hair, you'll have to supply your own)

Mmmmm. Love putting pumpkin seeds and nuts on my morning cereal. Really livens things up.

I think we have our August sorted. Little M kind of threw us a curve. Has to be out of his current place a week before he can move into his new one. We ended up deciding to basically move to Ottawa for a week. Rented a bungalow off AirBnB that's close to both his office (his co-op contract runs right up to the long weekend) and one of my company's offices in the area (I'll be working part of the time). That's after a two week vacation for Mrs. M and I.

I just spent 3 hours in the hospital...wasp stung me in the middle of the back. I think I leaned on it while it was between me and the back of a garden chair. My step-brother/ step dad’s son drove me (it’s a 5 min drive) to the ER. They tended to me right away. A doctor came out and assessed me and they decided to just give me antihistamines and fluids in an IV and watch me for a few hours (I read somewhere there’s an epinephrine shortage so maybe that’s partly why). Last year the paramedics pretty much insisted on giving me an epi shot - they weren’t taking chances.

I had the nurse and two doctors checking on me. It was A+ service this time. I also heard (and saw) a surgeon come in, in his exercise clothes - off duty I assume - to explain to a patient what surgery he thinks is necessary for them, and why, and what happens next. That impressed me. They were all really good in the ER today. One of my better ER visits...if there is such a thing. It’s never pleasant but this was as pleasant as it gets. Anyway, I now have a welt on my back but it’s gone down. It was 5 cm around, they said, with a rash on my whole back - and now it’s smaller, and isn’t serious. The rash is gone. I went away with an epi-pen prescription this time - doctor said I should have it just in case - and will get it in the morning. I was more freaked out this time by the location of the sting (too close to my heart), and because I can’t easily see what’s happening on my back.

Glad you didn't have a bad reaction. I think the epi shortages is only the pens, not what they typically use in the hospital. I haven't heard of a current one. Since you weren't showing signs of anaphylaxis they may have just decided not worth getting your system going.

How many times have you been stung in your lifetime? Just curious as to me that seems like a lot in a little while. I'm glad you will have an epi-pen. I think some doctors are way too slow on prescribing them, I've had 'just in case' well before I knew of any anaphylaxis. They figured with my reactions to mosquitoes and cats the just in case was worth it.

Maybe 6 times in my life. 3 times in just over a year. The earlier 3 I had more than normal swelling in the areas of the stings...a little worse each time. The one a couple of weeks ago (I think I mentioned it) just grazed my finger...I think it barely gots its stinger in my finger. I was out, near flowers and grass landscaping by the edge of a mall parking lot. I went to adjust my shirt and a wasp or bee got my finger...so I went to the nearby pharmacy (5 min walk) and bought Benadryl - pills and topical. My finger and one of my knuckles swelled quite a bit but that took it down a lot. I didn’t seem to be anaphylactic then either. Last year I called the nurse line (311 here) and she put me through to 911 and they came and got me so fast.,.I was feeling tingly in my mouth and they were not going to take any chances by waiting...so I don’t even know if it would’ve gotten worse/ dangerous.

Ugh, @Kimmio Laughterlove . Glad you got quick, good attention. I haven't been stung since my early teens and didn't have a reaction that time beyond a sore thumb but even before that I was a bit phobic about the little brutes. Bees I've mellowed on, esp. since with the honeybees largely absent around here due to the hive collapses I only see bumbles which generally don't sting. I miss the honeybees, though. Fun to watch them in the flowers. Wasps and hornets, OTOH, could all die tomorrow for all I care. I know it would have an environmental impact but I just hate/fear them that much.

Yesterday we went for a long walk on Newcastle Island with a couple of friends. That's an island right across from Nanaimo. It is also called Saysutshun and the park is managed by the Snuneymuxw First Nation. It's a beautiful and peaceful park. Newcastle Information . It was an amazing walk. I feel a few muscles today. :)

Did you make the trap (if so, how), or buy it? Sounds like a really good idea.

We started with a home made trap. We just filled a jar with sweetened water. We put a fruit syrup and some honey in the water. That caught lots of wasps. Hubby bought a trap from Rona and we put the same sweet mixture in it. The only difference is that once they get in trap they can't get out.

That sounds better. They do tend to get pissed off and rather vicious when they know you are trying to off them. Actually, while we were outside, shortly before I was stung, my step-brother swatted and killed another wasp with one of those zapper racquets we have, after a couple of tries. I read that other wasps in the hive/ family/ mob smell a signal when their buddies are in danger, and they can become aggressive. So, maybe the one that got me was in revenge mode. There must be a nest nearby but we haven’t found it yet. Could be next door.

:)
