My friends from Germany are here and we went to the Lunenburg folk festival. Great music.
But otherwise rather stressful, as they are in a relationship crisis, so communication is awkward at times and they are behaving so German , it makes me feel 150% Canadian. Husband is getting worked up about how some things are in Canada, behaving like an elephant in a porcelain shop while thinking he is right. we walked into a cafe, didn’t see the “ please wait to be seated “ sign because it wasn’t in an obvious place, so he steered to a table that was just getting available, and was all upset because the waitress asked him if someone has send us down there, feeling that he was “ kicked out”, and what a stupid rule we have in Canada.
The next place had a broken coffee machine, so we couldn’t get the coffee we were looking for and he kept on grumbling. While they both in normal times tend to be “know-it - alls” ( and honestly, they often do know a lot), it was tough to keep cool and gently explain that there are other customs in other countries. I feel bad for them, because they are on vacation and their negativity is just so stressful.
So now I am back home going back to work tomorrow and they are coming a day later to pick up some camping gear and take off for a little trip on their own. Three weeks are just beginning. I am feeling strong and grounded, though and hope I can keep it up .
