Spent part of today out in my Dad's courtyard front garden - tidying up, pruning shrubs, splitting some hostas & moving them & some other bits & pieces too. It was lovely, peaceful (no FOX news playing out there!! LOL) & sunny day. He appreciated the help - at 92 his arthritis prohibits him from doing too much out there. I've learned to pack my gardening gloves when I come for a visit. Gardens are so different here on Vancouver Island - temperate climate, lots of rain all winter then dry all summer.

Vivid sunset tonight - this is the view off the deck - too beautiful to keep it to myself :-)

My sister-in-law is loaning us their home for the shower. She has the gear for wee ones, which I don't, and the little ones are used to it.
We went last night, and did most of the setup, and then visited until late.
I came home, and relaxed...and....went to bed...and didn't realize my phone was dead. My husband had gone out early, and I slept until 9am!
Oh no.

My husband and youngest son pitched in, and we were done my food prep 30 min early. Many hands make light work. 40 fruit skewers ready to go. Ice bought, and in cooler and items on it.

We had a great visit with @Tabitha and her #1 son tonight. She recommended a restaurant that was very nice. The food was delicious. We got there a little early so could walk along the water downtown. Now we're chilling at home.

Looks like there's a little gardener in the family. Despite the snow Friday and yesterday I had plans to pick some carrots and kept with it and my nephew stuck it out for quite a while!
Last year he was obsessed with pumpkins, this year that seems to be gone but he was still interested and thought it was very cool that Auntie actually grew the 2 sitting on the table.
I know he was also interested in watering the tomato plants I gave my sister, I think he might have done more than she did. They ended up mostly drying out and dying although they got some cherry tomatoes at least. I did kind of expect that with 2 little ones and her going back to work in July.

The other one too soon to tell. He's all about food, has been that way for a long time. He managed to zero in on the few potato fruit that had fallen from the plants. Saw it when it was up to his face but not quite in his mouth yet  Next time toxic stuff needs to be cleaned up first.

I came home from work early afternoon to find my cat dead on my back porch.:( She was fine this morning. Found out that a neighbour- a good friend-hit her accidentally with his car. Poor cat. She made it home-just across the street.

We loved her. She followed her people around like a dog, was a great hunter of mice snakes and rats-and we had to be alert so she did not bring them in. She was adopted by us from the SPCA. She was only 8. She helped me sew by jumping up on the cutting table and sewing machine. She usually slept with me and I will miss her.

Oh, so sorry to hear that. For an outdoors cat, she lived six years longer than the average ....cars probably being the main determining factor in that...

I actually felt relieved. When an otherwise healthy cat dies I wondered about poison-maybe out for mice and rats and all the other cats on our very quiet cul de sac. But I miss her already-when I get up from the couch she doesn't meow and ask whwere I am going or follow me upstairs....

Sorry Tabitha, I hit 'like' for your post. I certainly didn't 'like' hearing about your cat. I'msure it ws well loved. You will miss it.
ps I recently had my Grandcat visi for a week while Seelergirl was away. She has been back hime for a week now and I'm still missing Grandcat waiting for me to stir in the morning by jumping on my bed and announcing 'comee on, get up, it'sbreaakfast time'. and then rubbing againsr my legs so I can hardly walk to the kitchen.
