What is with the robin in my backyard? It never lets up. Is it in distress? It stands on the garage roof and screams at the world morning, noon and night? I really do love all of God's critters...but sometimes I prefer the quieter ones.

Where's its nest? If it's in a vulnerable location, it may be spending a lot of time trying to scare off "predators", even human ones that are no real threat. I had a nest on my porch this spring and basically stopped using my front door because I got sick of being screamed at every time I did. Once the babies took flight and left the nest, I got it back.

Robins are quite noisy at this time of year. The young have often left the nest (because of they are getting to be huge!) but are not yet really able to fly much or feed themselves. So the parent & young are often calling to each other almost continuously - the young asking for food & directions, the parents being protective :-) Sound familiar? LOL. This usually lasts only a week or two fortunately.

Thanks!...not so sure about it. Another person showed up at 7:15 to look, and they have several to show it to tomorrow - application to be filled and emailed back. They will review applications/ references and make a decision by Wed. It's pretty competitive with the vacancy rate at an all time low.

I technically have a month and a half now, to find the right place. Most of July will be pet-sitting as a bit of a vacation (stay-cation). I think in less than 2 weeks I'll see more listings.

It was a very "Jr." One bedroom - smaller than the studio I was in I think. Maybe not but the living room area was small and the bedroom, very compact. And $50/ month more than my last place. Nice neighbourhood. Landlords seemed very nice.

Anybody watching Soccer World Cup these days? germany is crazy about soccer- there is soccer balls on grocery packaging, chocolates in Germany flag colours, and cafes and restaurants with big screens to watch the games.
Saw a bunch of drunken fans in the subway on my way back from inner city ( free outdoors classical concert in front of Hedwigs Cathedral at noon today ) and when I got to the shopping centre where my mom lives, four young drunk men had stripped and played naked in the fountain, then just grabbed their underwear - not sure how much trouble they got into.
The local clothing store had sold boxes of little chocolate soccer balls which included a gift card of at least 5 euros ( chance to win 10,50 or 500 euros ) sold for 5 euros- which turned out that I had one for 10 euros- for which I bought myself some socks with cat prints on it.
Tomorrow its Germany and Mexico playing. I suppose I will be watching on my brother in laws big TV screen.

Oh ya - FIFA fever! Some seem to see soccer as an excuse for craziness & intoxication. My husband & son met downtown today at a bar for Father's Day lunch & watched a game together ... but as far as I know all clothing remained in place!!

Cover-ups and covenants are critical … cynical in some cases ...

Not watching, soccer is a sport that's enjoyable enough to watch, but just not something I've ever gotten into. I know they changed the hours that alcohol can be served for the games here.

Feeling off today, may just be tired

Thankful for completing another ago, but sad that a good friend who was instrumental in the recovery has stepped down from the board. Nice to have 3 new members.

This cold has knocked me out pretty good. Today is the first day in a long time I stepped out the door. Got some dill planted - I still haven't mastered the time to plant to match it to the cukes. Even with 2 different varieties that have different maturity times, I think at least one might be getting a little late now, will see.

Wedding here we come. (I picked up a dress in India-and matching shoes in Edmonton-hoe can you resist turquoise and maroon shoes?) Pictures next month.
