Room For All

Welcome to Wondercafe2!

We are sitting cosy in our new home. The day has reminded us that each moment may bring dramatic change. We are renewing our determination to get the most of every day.

An interesting side note. Barbara served as a nurse educator for much of her life. Today two nurses remembered and appreciated her.

Woke up this morning thinking of George and Barbara. Wonderful to hear that she is back home. I hope all goes well.

I too woke up thinking of Barbara and George ...
Nothing short of a stroke would have persuaded Barbara that she was in need of a 'time out' I thought.
George will have a bit of a task convincing the good doctor that she must be patient I thought.
If ever there was a couple that could weather this together it is George and Barbara I thought.
I wonder if I will get to see their new home before they move again I thought.
Praise be that Barbara is going to be all right ... final thought !

Greetings,

Thank you all for your expressions of care. Barbara is doing well and we are looking forward in hope. With the Psalmist, we entered the valley of death’s shadow and will journey through it without fear.

The next while will be tenuous and we will continue to appreciate your caring intercession.

Peace be with you each and all!

George

I thank Godde, with you, that Barbara lives in Canada, where our healthcare system is so thorough and prompt when alerted to need. And for the hands of Godde, people like Tommy Douglas, who pushed for such good care for us.

There was a request elsewhere for some cinnamon buns in the room. Since I'm finished messing up my kitchen with roasting lamb, rice/lentil mixtures and spinach salad fixings (I'm heartily going to recommend a combo of white stilton with mangos, chopped fresh mango, white onion, craisins and toasted walnuts as great additions to spinach; my homemade dressing featured blueberry balsamic and avocado oil), I can certainly oblige.

My original recipe comes from a book of "recipes from CanLit". It's Cynthia Wine's Giant Prairie Cinnamon Rolls. Same book, tongue in cheek, contains a recipe for Creamed Mice on Toast courtesy of Farley Mowat.

Hahaha - Creamed Mice on Toast! I think I'll stick to the Cinnamon Buns!! Your salad sounds amazing Bette - I might have to give that combo a try.

I've thrown a few logs on the fire to keep the room warm today ... although it's 'almost' spring, there's still a pretty fierce wind blowing outside. So a good day to curl up with friends for some reflection, reading, a little snacking, and maybe some knitting by the fire.

Headed to Stoyles shortly to get fish'n chips. @revjohn , may not be on the rock, but, have folks from the rock making some good friday fish.

I was part of a Good Friday service this morning, which was well attended and well put together.
It included an introduction, then classic good friday service readings with sections from the sermon on the mount. I read all of the sermon on the mount sections. The music was quite appropriate and moving.

I made Hot Cross buns yesterday. Today I'm heading out to help with interviews for our church summer camp. And....the weather forecast is for our worst winter storm of the year. March will be going out like a lion in this neck of the woods. Happy Easter to everyone here...and if any of you see flowers or no snow where you live, well, I'm insanely jealous.

We are having 10 degrees and sun in the forecast ( not yet ,though). Snow is melting quickly. I am heading to the city to my favourite store Ikea to buy some ceiling and wall lamps and a set of chair cushions as easter gift for junior instead of chocolates.
It will be busy, I know, but its all a matter of attitude. Might stop into Costco as well, though that will be even busier, but if one drives an hour to get there, I might as well. I bet, what we find busy is just a normal crowd for Ontarians.

we did Costco Thurs-it is also an hour away-but on the way home with my parents. We got there at 950 and the parking lot was full and folks waiting to get in. Luckily it was fully staffed and we didn't take long.
