Sickness is hitting my family hard. My Grandma also has the flu and pneumonia. While my Dad is at home (he is on lots of medication) my Grandma is in the hospital. Sounds like other stuff is going on too, they ran the heart attack enzyme test and that was negative.
Sometimes the distance from relatives sucks more than other times.

Hard to be "easy", as it would be nice to be on this winter eve, when you know that relatives are struggling.

*Bette puts some big chunks of ash into the woodstove, makes sure that there are afghans/quilts on all chairs, puts on a mulled cider, and a mulled red wine, in addition to the perpetual pots of coffee and tea available*

I'm focusing on getting things ready for the 6th, so that's keeping me busy.
I keep saying Chemguy and I should go to Winnipeg, and it just never seems like a good time. I might end up going without him. I can do my job away consistently as long as I have decent internet access, he can't.

Sorry to hear about the health issues in your family chemgal, gentle thoughts to all.

To answer Pinga’s question above, Mike’s mom is doing really well. She completed all of her treatments and was declared cancer free! She has some nerve pain/damage in the arm and fingers on the side where she had surgery and says she is a little confused sometimes but over all she is really really good.

Mike is coming along I suppose. The accident happened about a year and a half ago and he’s still recovering though it seems as though he has hit a plateau lately. He still has congestive symptoms like easy confusion, short term memory issues, dizziness, and light sensitivity to name a few. He has pain in his back/shoulder which is pretty consistent and interfers with sleeping quite a bit. He doesn’t want to take pain meds or sleeping pills as he is afraid of adding any sort of adiction with everything else. On top of all that, he’s been diagnosed with PSTD so deals with anxiety and everything that brings with it. It has not been an easy time.

Glad to hear about his Mom. Sorry it's such a rough ride for Mike though. Are any of the meds that are intended for chronic and not acute pain an option? I'm not familiar with side effects and addiction issues with them, or how they would interact with his other issues. Just in general I have heard good things about using low does anti-seizure meds and antidepressants. I do know some are moreso for neuropathy than other types of pain. Otherwise, haven't followed much of it.

There are some folk that say PTSD is a thing of mind and thus ill conceived as the mined is a non existent hole a vacancy waiting for mindfulness! Is that ridiculous or justly defining for subtleties ... subtitles if underwrote ...

Some private thoughts are isolated that way so one has to dig for them in the metaphorical pits ... a lo' sensation ... some aloe may assist!

As medium can one enter this interim domain as in between and spacious for things demeaned as thought in the emotionally contrary zones ... as twilight or grey doubt? Tis not black & white as naked thought but met in the rye ... in the bodei 'n mode .... Oxford!

Collage of strange thoughts gathered in old manu scripts ... smelly mentalities to be dusted off ...

Mom's at urgent care now. Grandma likely has COPD.
Hopefully this flu won't get to the baby, my sister did visit my parents, hard to say if they were contagious then or not.

Awww...Sorry to hear this. I always thought cold weather was supposed to kill flu bugs.
Oh no - flu season is ramping up into full swing at this time of year unfortunately. We've got lots of it in the hospital, as well as an outbreak of RSV (not good for infants & those who are immunocompromised - just feels like a cold to most everyone else). Luckily the gastro outbreak from pre-Xmas is over now - at least for the moment. Hand washing everyone!! Again & again!! Keep your hands away from your face (nailbiters take notice!!). No hugging and handshaking if you can swing around it. Avoid eating any 'communal food' - eg at buffets, cookie plates at church, things where others might have touched stuff ...

Okay now - I'm throwing some big logs on our fireplace - cozy up - and no sneezing or coughing!!

Always knew there was a reason those potlucks/ buffets at work gave me the creeps . . .
They haven’t figured that out on my unit yet- lots of bags of chips and other stuff everyone reaches in...but maybe they work so close together it doesn’t matter, the bugs travel anyway.
