ChemGal....I'm kind of surprised at your pharmacist. Is this someone new you are dealing with? Someone who doesn't know you? We have one pharmacist in particular we like to deal with. He understands us, and is very good at explaining things. And my husband trusts him, which is saying a lot.

You know what doesn't help with getting testing done? When the pharmacy doesn't want to give you the medication. Things can never just be simple. Had to make an extra trip today when they refused to give the stuff to my husband yesterday, they wanted to talk to my doctor first. Specialists are rarely in clinics on weekends. I don't see the need for a pharmacist to interfere with the discussion my doctor and I had anyway. Even if so, they couldn't say anything to me when I dropped it off? Or when I get a text at like 7 am stating it's ready?

Then the pharmacist today was grilling me about if I know how to take it, I know the stuff is timed and needs to be taken the night before testing, I know how to swallow pills. Do I know the exact time I need to do it? No, that's why it's written on the bottle for me.

ChemGal - I'm sorry that you are having so much trouble with your pharmacist. I wonder what your relationship is usually like. Do you always deal with the same pharmacy? How well do you know the pharmacists there? I know that you have a good understanding of your condition and are aware of the treatment, medication (how to take it, what it does, what side-effects might occur). Does your pharmacist also know?

I think of my pharmacist as part of my health care team which consists of my family doctor, my specialist, my pharmacist, and me. I think we all respect each other's knowledge and ability and have a common goal of keeping me as healthy as possible. I deal with the same small pharmacy all the time, trusting them to keep track of all my prescriptions and being aware of any conflicting medicines. I know the three full-time pharmacists by first name (one is my neighbour's daughter whom I've known since she was five years old). If I didn't feel I could trust them, or that they didn't respect me, I think I would look for another pharmacy. They also know my husband, and they would give him my medicine if he asked for it, and visa versa. (He's apt to be checking his lottery tickets while I'm picking up both our prescriptions.)

Pinga - you have had many announcements from the Bad News Guys lately. Settle in and do what you can - even nothing at all. We aren't designed to run on top capacity all the time. You will know when it is time to get out and about again.

There are multiple pharmacists at the main pharmacy location I need (I have to use multiple pharmacies). This one is a new one. I don't trust this one, hubby got his flu shot from him and he came really close to forgetting to clean the site first!

I can't use just one pharmacy. I use one that is close to me for most things. I like most of the pharmacists there, I did my medication review there, so the pharmacist who did that knows me well. The head pharmacist also knows me, is helpful and is concerned about how much stuff I have not in the provincial pharmacy system so there is no notification about interactions. This was the place I had the issue.

My relationship with the staff varies there in general. Some of the assistants are bad for not inputting some of my info properly which means I get less of one medication when I pick it up. Some of them are annoyed that they are asked to fax my logs to the hospital and don't understand why every sheet needs to be sent, when they look similar (it's a log, clearly all different dates). Others are really helpful.

Other pharmacies - one in Ontario, no choice for me about the pharmacy I can use. One inside my former clinic, it's a compounding one and while no longer a necessity they do things for me that my main one cannot that are nice options (like an additive so I don't need to refrigerate the mouthwash I need for dental work - nice to keep that in the bathroom, no need to worry about an ice pack at the dentist), plus it can take 2 weeks to get it from my main place due to the need for the compounding area to order in the ingredients, mix and then ship to my pharmacy. Then there's another in the city where they are the only ones who make up a med that my ENT likes to prescribe, it's not in the provincial system. Finally there's the hospital pharmacy as my hematologist often defaults there and if I'm getting an IV anyway I don't bother transferring it. And blood bank isn't a pharmacy but I do get some meds there.

My goodness ChemGal, it sounds like a full time job just looking after your prescriptions! Thankfully you're up to to cognitive challenge of doing so, although I'm sure it's a major aggravation at times - as you say.

Oh Seeler - sorry to hear about Seelergirl's bad fall. That really sucks - especially being so close to returning to full time hours at work. Hopefully she will recover well and as quickly as possible!

It feels like it some days.
It's at least pretty clear in my head where I need to go. Pills = main pharmacy Topical = Compound HAE injectable stuff = blood bank/drug companies/ON pharmacy
The other 2 pharmacies I use less than a handful of times in a year.

It's the multiple trips that gets frustrating, especially when it has nothing to do with lack of planning on my part, but a shortage/issue with prescription/mistake by others.

Seeler, that must be hard on Seelergirl. I edited your post earlier to make your words stand out separate from the quote and somehow missed commenting.

*really* damned if you don't, damned if you do situation. Would be nice if all health treatments were healthy all around, but so rarely is that the case.

Ouch. Sorry about seeler girl's fracture-and the diagnosis . Is there anything she can do? Calcium supplements perhaps? I know gentle weight bearing exercise helps-but aware she fell while jogging.

Sorry to read your medication run arounds Chemgal. I'm not sure thatI would be able to keep track of it all. I merely go to my local pharmacy and they do what has to happen. You have more complex needs though. Actually I have been impressed by my pharmacy several times - warning me that I need to arrange new prescriptions - informing me that there is a new medications that might be a good replacement for one I am taking - phoning when a medication has arrived that wasn't available yesterday. Excellent service!

Poor Seelergirl. Osteoporosis isn't fun to deal with. It seems I was about her age when it could have been found in my body - but tests weren't ordered at that time. Now I have lost a lot of height and have compression fractures in my spine - apart from the occasional broken bones.. My current doc says it can be slowed by modern meds.

Up early this morning. Rose before 5am. Wide awake, figured that I might as well get up.
Enjoyed watching the news, reading, having breakfast, and drinking coffee.
Feels like 10am, and is only 7:30am.

Hmm, wonder what 10pm will feel like.

Hah called our internet provider for a chronic issue with drops, increasing over the last few weeks.
Told 20 - 25 minute wait time, so put it on speaker, and put tv on pause.
Next thing i know, I can hear a voice saying hello... I had dozed off.
TV is showing on hold for 30min. Lovely little cat nap.
told them they could sell their muzak for sleeping.

One thing about our house, when we call for IT support, we typically have done all the research required.
When advised of our scripts, results, done on wired computer, methodology for reboots....we quickly went to "ok, let me check your area".
Confirmed issue is in the area, external to our home.

So, success. had a nap and got a technician on an internet issue.

Yep, I sometimes wonder how those without my background manage to handle some of the Internet issues I get at home. Some of the frontline staff know less than I do, something I have to impress upon them in order to move things along. There's nothing I like to hear less than "yes, but do it anyway" when I have already told the person the line that I've already done what they are asking . Their script does not trump my twenty years of experience.

What experience? Is that like denied empirics ... an impractical sense ... if the authority can't see what you encountered? Tis an alternate perspective or POV! Can one learn from alternate POV ... other than it is pou ...?

Experience troubleshooting network issues, of course.
