Room For All

Heading across the river to the U.S. side to visit daughter and grandson today. I have to fit it in in the few hours when they are not busy! I'm glad that they have an active life over there. Meanwhile, I am busy trying to make a dent on all the STUFF they left behind. I'm bringing a carload over today. Middle son moved back in with his stuff, and now we have to rearrange the basement to make room for it. He works 20 days at a mine and is home for only 10. He rented out his house for a year, so we said "Live here" in the meantime. Forgot about the STUFF part.

@paradox3, will you be having a celebration of life or funeral surface. Thinking of you, and remembering the wise words of a wondercafe friend who advised me to "lean into love". Those words helped me in the week after my mom's death as family got complicated. It helped.
It is being called A Service of Thanksgiving for the Life of . . .

Very wise words indeed from your friend. Thanks for passing them along.

BC is in a state of emergency due to all the fire outbreaks. Just reporting in the my town in the interior is OK.

After all the flooding in June and July we are short of rain. Even though lake water levels are still way up a day or two of rain would be most helpful

Praying for those evacuated and those fighting the fires.

Some whetting of the sol can calm the pyres of passion that are too active in some light making zones ... auld flames?

Tis a metaphor that carries across time and space ... in the light of those who don't know ... thus Dunne Kahn!

We on the otheer side of Canada see it on the news and shutter. I remember our little day trips around your hometown on Okanogan Lake and picture the orchards, the hills and valleys, and mountainsides and I watch every new fire hoping they aren't near you. (Which just means somewhere else is suffering.) Rain! Send raid to BC. We don't need it right now.

Thanks Tabitha for letting us know - I was thinking of you when I saw the reports on the news last night. Imagining what it might be like to be far from home and facing such news. So I'm glad things are OK at the moment & prayers for it to remain so - and to calm for all who are affected.

When we travelled through BC a few years ago, we stayed in Cache Creek - and remarked on how very dry the surrounding area was. I think it was just north of Kamloops where we also passed through a very large area which had been decimated by a gigantic forest fire about 10 years earlier. It was my first experience in such an area.

Thanks for checking in. Glad your town's okay.

Keep praying.

Yeah
Ogopogo keeps OK safe
Keep sacrificing
I hear she likes licorice shortbread
You've never lived until you've been hiking on one of the hills, slipped or put your hand or foot right into a cactus
And then trying to figure out how to remove the ball of spikes from your shoe or clothing or flesh
Of course after you can salve your embarrassment at 5 Oaks or a lovely wine or a soak in the isolation tanks in Kelowna (see old post aboot my experience there)

Uncomfortably hot in NB the last few days. Portable airconditioneer in bedroom running from noon until bedtime makes sleeping possible. The window airconditioner in the livingroom is old (we don't run it when we are sleeping or not home) and noisy (so we don't run it when watching TV) so the house does get hot. Fortunately Seeleerman doesn't mind the heat nearly as much as I do.
I'm finding I really lack energy lately - is it the heat or the gradual progression of Parkinsons? Sometimes I get discouraged - not depressed so much as just feeling defeated. Yesterday, after leading worship in a settlement down river, I just sat for most of the day. Only stired enough to make a simple lunch and supper; let the dirty dishes pile up because I hadn't gotten around to unloading the disshwasher. Wished I had a magic wand. Finally, mid-evening I did get things straitened up.
Seelergirl and family are on a tenting holiday so Seelercat has come for a week-long visit. He's delightful to have around - big, self-confident, proud, moody - as affectionate as could be when I got up this morning - so glad to see me, starving for attention and food. Then 1/2 hour later in a 'don't touch me or I'll make you regret it' mood.

Seeler....Of course, you would wonder if it's the progression of Parkinson's. But I also wanted to tell you that, after leading church services, I am absolutely wiped. I want alone time. And I don't want a lot of responsibilities. Making lunch for someone else might be pushing it. So, I think your energy drain is pretty normal, especially when dealing with the heat too. Hope today feels better.

Thank you Nancy. Today is better. Seelercat fed. Breakfast dishes in the dishwasher. Laundry sorted (with Seelerman's help carrying it downstairs) and first load in the washer.
This afternoon I will visit a friend in hospital.
And today is not so hot.
Seelercat is taking a nap under the quilt in the spareroom. Cats like the heat. I remember years ago when I was growing up our cat's favourite spot in the house was under the wood range in the kitchen.

My family's cat used to lie in front of the furnace vents in our house. Same principle, different technology. :D

In the winter, my very old cat (22 or something bizarre) likes to lie on an old towel directly on top of the hot air register in the kitchen.

I'm going through a bit of a rough patch, as my ex-husband has reached the palliative stage of his cancer, and it's just a question of when. He lives about a 2 1/2 hr drive away, so I've been back and forth delivering my son for visits, trying to talk my daughter into doing same, and poised to do more in the next weeks. Also, trying to figure out if I need/want/should/shouldn't say goodbye myself. We had a very good conversation less than a year ago, after his diagnosis, and that may have been enough for both of us. He has a long-time companion and I wouldn't want, in any way, to upset her; she's a nice woman who has cared for him well.

On a lighter note, just back from a 5-day visit to Montreal to visit my ex-in-laws. Festival International de Jazz de Montreal was absolutely superb, as always. Some some very cool acts. Missed Walk Off The Earth by a day, damnit...

Seeler, it's probably the heat and your body not being able to tolerate it as you used to. We had a heat advisory here Thursday-Sunday I think it was. I didn't have the energy to do the things I would typically do now.
The heat does that to most people, but it does affect me more now than when I was in better health.
