Hope I didn't disturb anybody as I stumbled in and fell onto the couch by the Wonderfire. I've been outside all day and I'm pleasantly tired out. Went with a group of friends into the northern boreal forest to take photos, do sketches, eat, laugh, share, walk along trails, watch the ruffed grouse and squirrels etc. The grey jays were delighted to see us and nearly mobbed us when they saw the food coming out of the backs of the cars. It was bright and sunny all day too with a brisk and cold wind . On the way home I realised from the sensations on my face that it would have been a good idea to smear on some sunscreen - but I didn't even think of it. Apparently nor did anyone else!

We agreed to avoid the subject of the latest version of Agent Orange.
sounds like a delightful day Kay!!

Ahhh ... Friday night! Good to rest & relax after a busy & stressful week.
So delighted to hear of your good news pinga!

Had a nice chat with my daughter this week - she's adopted a rescue dog - thought to be a husky/golden retriever cross, about 5-7 years old. So I got to 'meet' Honey during our skype chat - she's a sweetie and seems to be settling in well. I'm going out for a visit in a few weeks & look forward to having her snuggle up at my feet & giving her lots of love & scritches.

Late Tues. afternoon I got bit bya cat. 4 puncture wounds, infection found me at walkin clinic Wed. and on oral antibiotics. Thurs. am found me in emergency getting IV anitbiotics, and on Fri. Had an IV port in back of right hand and a swollen and sore left hand. Very frustrating and I read 2 books. We went out for breakfast Fri. am for oldest's birthday. I did have a more active weekend planned and even some sewing time. Back on oral antibiotics now and still on rest for left hand. right hand is fine.

Ouch! Hopefully good healing now, I've heard cat bites are nasty but haven't seen one before.

Ouch Tabitha! Cat bites are dangerous. I've never seen it on a person, but I've seen the abcesses that can form on a cat from fwhat appeared to be a minor puncture woundd from a cat fight. Cat scratches are painful but usually not dangerous. But cats have long, sharp teeth that they use for killing prey. The wounds go deep without appearing too bad or bleeding much. So they heal over on the surface but leave the bacteria and crap from the cats mouth inside to fester.
I do hope that you continue to improve.
Tell me more about 'Ben'. he he

ugh... now I have a Ted Nugent's "Cat Scratch Fever' earworm

"Well, the first time that I got it I was just ten years old
I got it from some kitty next door
An' I went to see the doctor and he gave me the cure
I think I got it some more
They give me cat scratch fever
Cat scratch fever
I got a bad scratch fever
The cat scratch fever"

It was neighbours cat. It is still hanging around as it likes to visit with my cat. Despite it letting me pick it up before this time it didn't want to be held. Hand is continuing to improve.
@ seeler I have 2 teenage hockey billets with me for the school year.

Hope that you continue to heal.

Heading to US today but first have book club. I have about 20 paperbacks that i am hoping to find a good home for.

There are about a dozen in our club but with last minute cancellations usually ends up about 6 to 8. Looking forward to some wine and catchup with these women.

Here are some appetizers to share: warm Brie with cranberry, goat cheese, hummus, olives, fig and walnut drip, grapes and apple slices. There is a cab - franc and a Riesling as well.

Please sit and enjoy

ouch Tabitha - I have seen patients with those nasty cat bite infected hands ... so glad to hear you got prompt treatment & it's looking better ... hoping that continues as you rest & take care.

thanks for the snacks & wine pinga! I'll toss in a nice jigsaw puzzle to occupy us this fine afternoon.

Oh! OK

For a few years I rented rooms to university students - mostly young (I had a mature student for a year). They were, for the most part, delightful company after my kids left home. I treated them almost like sons or nephews - giving laundry advice, reminding them to dress warmly on cold days - and they in turn put up my christmas lights and helped me to shovel the driveway. Ben and Jamie (my first two) learned how to tease me into letting them watch the hockey game when I would just as soon have watched a movie - and I made pizza for them wit them suppplying some of the ingredients.

My son's cat routinely scratches and bites us. Still he is a part of our family. I call him my baby.

I can't remember the last time either of my cats bit me, perhaps never. I get the odd scratch if they're on my lap and something, usually a dog, frightens them into launching themselves off with back claws fully extended. I get the odd dog bite, usually accidental.

And, ooh, fig and walnut "dip"? (You said drip, but...) Will you share recipe? Sounds like a wonderful combo.

Is a rye dip sort of drippy and enough to whet emotions?

Sometimes rumoured to happen under bridges down in Georgia, on in the Somme as designated by the conclusion of Les Miserables ... aLo've to deis fore ...

Don't mention this in a world based on hate and laying wastelands ... too much like intelligence toxic to the authority's desires ... the solution? A'fi nite myth on shadowy goings on ...
