Edited above to answer the question. They throw codes because they can. The dryers somehow manage to eject small items, which once lead good Samaritan me, who noticed and cleaned the lint from the outdoor vent cover of the neighbour's house, into discovering a thong among the lint. Our dryer is fine, but out washing machine needs the filter cleaned every couple of months, which is a delicate operation involving a towel, a cookie sheet, and quick hands. Our over the range microwave stopped working because the keypad quit. I was told that it doesn't like cold. It's vented to the outside. A new microwave was about the same price as the keypad.
Our dishwasher had to be largely disassembled and the vent trap cleaned of foul gunk to clear an error code to do with the water level indicator. Why do I have to take a dishwasher apart? Do they all need service after 5 years? The only reason I figured it out is because the problem is so widespread, there were 3 YouTube videos on the subject. So I had to listen to a Texan prattle on about how to take it apart, because Samsung instructions are more cryptic and annoying than a Texas accent.
