Edited above to answer the question. They throw codes because they can. The dryers somehow manage to eject small items, which once lead good Samaritan me, who noticed and cleaned the lint from the outdoor vent cover of the neighbour's house, into discovering a thong among the lint. Our dryer is fine, but out washing machine needs the filter cleaned every couple of months, which is a delicate operation involving a towel, a cookie sheet, and quick hands. Our over the range microwave stopped working because the keypad quit. I was told that it doesn't like cold. It's vented to the outside. A new microwave was about the same price as the keypad.

Our dishwasher had to be largely disassembled and the vent trap cleaned of foul gunk to clear an error code to do with the water level indicator. Why do I have to take a dishwasher apart? Do they all need service after 5 years? The only reason I figured it out is because the problem is so widespread, there were 3 YouTube videos on the subject. So I had to listen to a Texan prattle on about how to take it apart, because Samsung instructions are more cryptic and annoying than a Texas accent.

Their appliances were designed by the same team as the Note 7.

Do not buy a Samsung dishwasher. Or any Samsung appliance, really. But especially dishwasher. Or microwave. I've been dealing with error codes and disassembly to unclog and ungunk parts of the dishwasher, microwave (once replaced) and washing machine in the 5 years we've had them. The neighbour's Samsung fridge throws error codes for fun, best I can tell. Their Samsung dishwasher makes all the correct noises, and the dishes look like they did going in.

They make phones. For everything else, they mail it in.

Actually, they make pretty good printers, too. I have a Samsung laser printer that has been very reliable and heavy-duty.

I've had a lot of luck with Whirlpool appliances (they make Kenmore as well). I've had 0 luck with GE/B&D appliances, but my Dad cursed them after they closed a plant here, so it might just be me/this house.

True, Samsung printers have worked fine for me as well. But the appliances have been rather spotty at best.

And Kenmore is made by many different manufacturers. Samsung among them.

My GE dishwasher has a blind spot where it collects chunks of dirt. Thanks tointernet, I have figured out how to take it apart and clean it. But is this normal?

We've had a Samsung TV and a Samsung microwave for years and have never had problems with either.

Jae do you unconsciously listen ... a spiritual/emotional flaw?

Can terminate in Samsung explosions ... or was that δ'm well sung?

Thus you are bling to "all" else? If God is the dark all-eL's ... listen to the silence ... it is well (deeply) writ! Sometimes come to you as Nous ... sacred stuff darkly received byt conscious and unconscious minds. Then if you don't believe that which is conscious or not ... the Shadow may just be a Passover moment ... and there it went!

Did you know that sometimes the Nous appears as soul ... or even sol a resolution to blindness in a wash ... catharsis?

So you are the strong closed silent type ... and power corrupts! Thus the tempest in the teapot?

True, Samsung printers have worked fine for me as well.

Alas, they are getting out of the printer business. Sold that division to HP.

I think that their TVs are still quite good. It's their big appliances like laundry machines that have problems. And, of course, the Note 7.

On this grey Wednesday morning, Bette's first Saturday of the week (I do not work Wednesdays, splitting my 80% into two two-day spurts), it is unseasonably warm for mid-November (7 or 8 degrees), but it's damp, so I'll put the woodstove on. Also, it's the Fabulous Food Fair on Saturday, and there will be tarts, so watch this space for samples. I'm thinking of raspberry lemon coconut and butter tarts with craisins.

BetteDaughter just got back from day and a half workshop with John Pentland, of "Fishing Tips" authorship. Looking forward to unpacking some of what she came home with.

Survived a rather full week and weekend last week and now into a more normal one. Two campus visits with Little M (Windsor and Guelph), a two day course, and my company's so-called Christmas party (which is a tad early to really feel Christmas-y, though it's close to Diwali and one of our managers is Hindu so I suppose it splits the difference for her).

The trip to Guelph was good. Nice campus, nice program (computer science), and Little M did all the driving. Dad got to sit in the back and read. First time doing a major drive on a 400 highway and he did well. Windsor's nice but hardly first choice material.

I heard John Pentland in Vernon in the spring. It was a weekend workshop organized by Presbytery and monetarily supported by Conference. John's talk was very similar to his book. He talks about what works for him in Calgary.
