I participated in a pilgrimage with Atlantic school of Theology in July in Halifax. It was a worthwhile time and 120 k over the 6 days. we slept at churches on camping pads. Anyhow I signed up to also take the course as credit. It's been a awhile for me, since I was writing assignments. Just got back my marks and comments on my journal of the Pilgrimage. Very surprised and pleased to get full marks. Yes I CAN do this. Now to write the paper for the last 60% of marks.

Visiting with my sister and bil in \ontario now. Conversation and cardgames - and meals! Older sister and bil are also here. \nice to be together (but stressful as always with her). They leave today - then it will be more relaxed.
Not posting as often as usual because of real life.

*In seeler's absence, Bette puts a few softwood logs in the stove, enough to drive off the morning damp/chill, and puts fresh water in the kettle for coffee, tea, etc.*

'Tis a cool late summer morning. Just 8 degrees here, and I decided at 6 a.m., too cool for wading about in the lake. The poor hound won't have many more morning swims; starts to get too dark as well.

Yeah, it's feeling a bit fallish down here, too, though summer is taking at least one more kick at the can mid-next week (temps around 30 for a couple days).

Only three days until back to school and I'm still not back on EDT (sleeping in until 7:30 or 8 when I usually rise at 6:30 to 7). Could be a problem come Tuesday when Little M needs to be up and getting ready for school by 7:30. Hate to use the alarm since Mrs. M is a late sleeper relative to me and doesn't start her classes until the next week IIRC.

Starts late. Some schools started over a week ago here and almost all were going yesterday. It's felt like fall here for a little while although we had some warmer days this past week. This weekend and next are pretty cool.

Ontario always starts the day after Labour Day and Labour Day is a bit late this year. Our Christmas break is late this year, too. Usually runs from a week or so before Christmas to the Monday after New Year's but this year it doesn't start until 23rd and ends Jan. 9th.

Saskachewan always went back after Labour Day but this year they went back Sept. 1 Thursday before long weekend.

Cool here this morning. A friend and I did a bike ride of 30 k down the old KVR railbed. and I mean DOWN. Lovely descent. I hadn't ridden that whole piece ever but have often ridden from either end. We both started with coats on and in long pants.

Trust that my fellow wc2 friends are enjoying their long weekend. It does seem to mark the end of summer and the beginning of fall activities.
A return to work for me, school starting or have started for many students. I think of those entering new schools or heading off to university or college. It is a time of change.

Seems a bit strange that they're starting this year on Labour Day.

They likely are not. Thames Valley, our local board, starts Tuesday (see various posts upthread on the topic of when school starts) and I think Ontario has more or less standardized the calendar now.

Spent the day with my family as my parents drove up today. Wasn't thinking and ate something I shouldn't have - bit of an allergic reaction from that but luckily it seemed to be all skin plus I slept a long time when I got home - not sure if that's related.

Nephew is a blast of energy now. Really has the walking thing down. My parents brought one of our old toys - a lawnmower. He was absolutely amazed by it, he played with it for a full hour and he had a shocked expression - jaw right to the floor kinda look - instead of his usual grin for about the first 15 minutes.

Sounds like some great family fun there ChemGal. Excellent to be able to reuse old favorite toys.
