Good afternoon, everyone!

It is a beautiful, hot, sunny, summer afternoon here in my part of Manitoba. It is definitely a fine, early August summer day. Enjoying these ones while they last.

A weekend is upon us . . . no company this weekend, but a lot of work being done to prepare for family coming the following weekend.

I hope this is a peaceful, calm, safe weekend for everyone here. The weekend before last we lost a local 29 year old in a car accident, and this past long weekend we lost a local 19 year old in a very sad quad accident. Two grieving mothers, and families, in my community. So sad. I hope this weekend is safe for everyone.

I think this afternoon I am going to putter in my yard and garden, and maybe do a bit of kayaking.

What about everyone else . . . and exciting weekend plans happening?

Taking it easy today. I had a bit of an emotional meltdown last night when it hit me about some of the stuff I dealt with when I was younger, and how it could have been HAE related.
Chemguy asked me if I needed Berinert. I told him it's normal to be upset and angry about this, and that I had just thought of stuff so it hit me hard. Then I woke up with a sore throat. Good news is I treated it by myself first try, even with the mixing system not working right which adds extra steps and usually destroys some of my confidence in the process. I had Chemguy on speaker phone for support. It's cooled down today and it's chilly when the breeze comes through the windows so my veins weren't too great either.

I got another call about the exercise program. Due to my condition there are concerns. She's promised to find me something though and I will still meet with her next week.

I'll be waiting for a phone call from her, doing some laundry, watching some netflix and napping. Ugh - I just looked at the time. I grabbed something to drink so I didn't get dizzy, but haven't eaten anything. I thought it was still morning but it looks like I better grab some lunch while it's not unreasonably late!

CrazyKids are in California for a wedding and taking kids to Disneyland. They were to get in a 8:30 but didn't get there until midnight because of stormy weather. We had the same. It is very hot and humid today.

oh Beloved-deaths so young are so tragic

It's a catch up weekend here. Oldest came home last night -he'll build me a canoe rack this weekend
Youngest was out with friends but is home -I'll see about him helping to build
and I'll finish sorting out and putting away from last trip
With the ocean I have to rinse salt off everything
I washed-and rewaterproofed tent yesterday-it is drying on railing

Lots of wilderness paddling days are good for me. Now I'm almost all sorted out at home and can move onto other things.
Had a 40 k bike ride around a lake last night. it was about 10k too long-but the only choice was keep going to home. Am quite sore today.

All the way around Okanagan? Tabitha that's a long way! Oh, I see the 40k. It must have been a smaller lake, but still a long way.

You didn't decide to go half way and then turn back? :p

I'm headed out the door soon, but I just got back from the supervised exercise program & assessment. It was fantastic! I definitely don't fit the average person in the program, but I blame doctors and AHS for that, they push it as a thing for people with mobility issues only, when you talk to the people running it though, they are way more open.

yeah, OK lake is HUGE (a trip around its circumference would be at least--barring playful slaps from the Ogopogo demon-- 270km), so, yer intuition is right :3

I'm wondering if maybe I slightly overdid it today. I'm having some minor muscle stiffness/soreness. Not even worth worrying about normally, but I wonder if it's enough physical stress to be a trigger or not. I'll have a better idea tomorrow morning.

The class was actually scheduled before the assessment - that would have been completely fine. Time was taken up for an intro, so we didn't have a full hour of activity, and then I was also told to watch it as I had the assessment right after, so I was way under my limit.

The assessment was more difficult to stay under control, as they want to see your max, but your 'safe' max. I dunno what that is. Some things were super easy - balancing on one foot for example, as long as possible, but I hit the max time for both. Doing as many bicep curls as possible in 20s with a weight you're comfortable with. I did notice near the end I was losing form so could slow that down. Covering as much distance as reasonable in 6 minutes was more difficult for me to judge. I don't think I really pushed any one thing too hard, but with it all together maybe a bit. I'll find out though, and that's why I'm in this program, to learn what my balance is.

The instructor is so enthusiastic, and really believes I can find my current happy medium and progress within this time frame as to what that happy medium is. It's really nice to hear that something thinks I can improve so much in a short time frame. Refreshing after the horror stories, and I trust her to not push me too hard and to reign me in a bit, as she already sees that I'm struggling with doing my best to not push myself.

Sounds like this is being a good experience for you ChemGal. You are doing many great things to improve your health and quality of life, and we are proud of you.

Company comes on Sunday for a week (a total of 11 excluding our family) . . . so you know what Beloved is doing this week - cleaning and preparing! One of the days there will be 15 for supper (but hubby is planning, preparing, and cooking for that one). I am getting excited about seeing everyone, but still have some work to do. This is a "squeeze in", as we have a very small cottage. Hope the weather is good as 3 littles ones from ages 2 1/2 to 7.

How is everyone today?

Sounds like fun Beloved! I hope you have good weather, and few mosquitoes, their numbers exploded here this week.

Oh Beloved - that's a big crowd - sending good weather vibes to you! So some folks bring tents for sleeping? Sounds like it could be terrific fun.

Good job ChemGal - getting more fitness into life is good (says I, sitting sluggishly at my computer!! The irony of it all is not lost on me!)

I'm on a day off - was hoping to repair my front garden today, but weather is not good for it. I'm going over to the hospital at noon for an inservice on concussion management - both professional & personal interest in this - so it should be worthwhile.

One trailer for sure, possibly one more . . . and portion of garage will be turned into sleeping accommodations for son and g/f.

Hope your inservice is interesting, Carolla. We hear so much today about concussions - especially in youth in sports injuries. I've had two relatives, seniors, who have suffered concussions - one from a fall, and one from a car accident - and it has taken a long time for them to heal, one is still in the process, and may not ever get totally better.

Please post anything you learn that may be of interest to all of us, Carolla.

I will do so Beloved. I have a friend & colleague who has had multiple concussions - has been off work for almost a year & a half now - each time she gets better enough to start planning return to work, it seems another accident ambushes her - most recently a somewhat minor car accident, but it was enough to tip her fragile brain over the edge again. Such a misunderstood condition too - her long term disability insurer is now declining her claim.

Today is GORGEOUS so far, Beloved, thanks for asking

We've had this terrible sunshine for so long, I flinched at the overcast this morning, feeling it was some alien threat; the cast of the light was totally 'off' -- now I am habituating to it, thank g_ddess.

Possible rain, too

Back in the low 20s (so far), still insanely high humidity

Its been so hot and humid that when I saw my landlord last night I thought he had had a haircut, but rather his hair just had no body at all due to the heat & humidity

Gotta laugh at myself sometimes. I have a dentist appointment today. I've been thinking in my head when to take the pills that will help prevent an attack, when to pack up the mouthwash I use immediately beforehand (it needs to stay cold), etc.
In all of this I actually forgot about the IV! A month ago there was no way that would be possible, it would be effecting my dreams. I even grabbed a bit of caffeine as I'm tired, luckily only a few sips before it hit me, so now I'm hydrating.

I think the exercise was mostly good. I overdid the bicep curls, I think I lost my form on the last few, but I've never tried to do them quickly before. I've got the good muscle soreness in the muscle, but I can also feel the spot from probably overextending a bit. My neck is also sore, not sure if it's that or a back exercise, probably a bit of both. Other than feeling a bit worn out so far I have zero signs of a flareup. Hopefully the dentist appointment isn't tempting fate too much, I wouldn't have planned it this way, but it didn't seem like too big of a deal to delay the class or the appointment. It just means 3 prevention treatments with the Berinert this week instead of 2, and hopefully none for attacks!

The time is finally here, I'm off to England! Leaving or the airport in about 15minutes. I've heard the 401 is closed Eastbound around James Snow so I'll have to find an alternate root. It hasn't actually felt like it's going to happen until today. I haven't seen most of my friends for 4 years now! I am so excited!!!!
