Are rooms expanded versions of the page of time ... historically some old thoughts can cause hysteria if interpreted differently ... mortals don't like change although obviously what the icon of word indicates ... that unseen thing loves diversity ... sort of a weird aesthetic? Hoo Dah Th' un queID for a pound of gold ?

Hard to think of daffodils are blooming whilst we are experiencing snow.

I am a 1/2 day from being done. We had a lovely presentation today.

Frustrated that a video that was made of me talking about a product is approved by our VP but being flat out denied by a marketing group. Sigh. They even want to claw back a case study that was approved two years ago. Bit of a sour note to go out on.

On the other hand, a teammate's wife delivered their new baby girl this morning, which is pretty awesome

We had a busy day at work today. It's "Budget Lock-Up Day" here in the Province of Ontario. Our place was filled with accountants, auditors, police, etc.

That thunder that was just a few rolling booms in this area this morning was part of a weather pattern moving through.
I didn't notice it as I hurried to get ready and leave for Presbytery - just checked that it was cold enough for a light winter jacket, wet enough for boots. Didn't check on the radio, didn't know that schools were closed, that power was off around the city and countryside (but not at my place). Could see that sidwalks and parking lots might be slippery with rain on ice, and there waswater on the streets.
Got to the church - only a couple of people there. Presbytery is cancelled if the schools are closed so everybody smarter than me stayed home.
UCW had soup made for 40 or so people. Rooms throughout the church were ready for committee meetings. The usual activities that happen in the church on Thursdays had been cancelled. What a waste!
I sat and had coffee and a muffin (5 dozen homemade muffins ready) with the sexton and a quilter. Nice chat.
This afternoon Seelerman and I visited a cousin for wine and cheese.

Presbytery is rescheduled for next week - at a yet to be decided location. Can the UCW freeze their soup and muffins, and hold back on making sandwiches and desserts? And will it be rescheduled for our church?

Ah, yes, the realities of winter in Canada.

I had a "Transformation Team" meeting scheduled for last night. It wasn't THAT awful, but we'd had an awful combo of rain and a bit of snow that got the news all excited, so it was over; once the 'tough' Property Team had cancelled their 5 p.m. meeting, was I going to drag people out later?

Speaking of freezing stuff at the church, I mentioned in a "call for lunch help" that there might be 48 buns in the freezer for me to use; I was quickly informed that "My" leftover buns had been assigned elsewhere...

Yesterday was my presentation day at work. Excused for the day, it was filled with presentation in the morning in front of the main coffee break and then a lovely lunch. My husband and youngestson accompanied me. Yes, there were roses, the classic pen set, and other gifts. Lots and lots of hugs.
Oh, and cake. Cake for everyone.

Today, I will go back to the office that I work in, a smaller facility, take a cake, and ..be done at noon, with exit interview over another lunch!

I had a moment of "me" yesterday when I started to feel guilt for having yesterday off when I could be answering one more question, writing one more email, or training one more person. Then, I breathed, relaxed and went, "nope". The time has come to say goodbye, one more email, one more answer is not going to make a world of difference in the long term. So, I relaxed, and am now heading into work for a few remaining hours.

It's a wonderful feeling after 38.5 years.

Y
It's a wonderful feeling after 38.5 years.

*Does quick math*

I'll be up to about 27 years in the workforce by this coming fall, spread over two jobs. I might make it to the same as you total depending on when I retire but not on the same job. I'm 17 on this one and, assuming I retire from it and don't change again, might make it to 27 or so. Congratulations and hope you've got a great post-career ahead of you.

I am glad for you, Ping.

About Presbytery @Seeler , we all take a bag lunch and soup and cookies or muffins are supplied

coffee and tea too. It was suppose to save money and work for the church where it was held.

Also, churches got very competitive. From soup to full course turkey dinners.

* loud BANG as the monkey sets off Chinese firecrackers outside the window, then swings in giggling *

Seriously, @Pinga, retirement will be a whole new adventure.

On my very last day of work I ended up staying a little late (most unusual for me). I wanted to work with my patients until the very end so I still had a few odds and ends to take care of. One of the psychiatrists in our unit saw me there late and said, "So this is the last hour. Tomorrow when you wake up it will be the first hour."

Have never forgotten those words.

May retirement bring you much happiness.

Thanks @paradox3 . @Carolla , great quote.

I'm enjoying the party.
Had a delightful exit lunch, and I think the person will be a new friend out outside of work. She is new to the area, having moved to Canada from the US.
I came home to find a beautiful bouquet of flowers from my sons, and also, a lovely gift basket from Hazelton Lanes from my sister.

Now reading emails, and wondercafe2 and making a coffee.

A retirement demands a gift - something a bit more substantial than a cyber prayer shawl. I would like to present Pinga with a quilt - pieced in blues and lavender shades. I tried my hand at free motion quilting on it, so it is very individualistic (in other words, less than perfect!).

Enjoy life as it goes forward Pinga - remembering to take relaxation times as needed (or wanted).
