I haven't said anything, but I've been plagued with itchy, patchy rashes for a few weeks now. My family doc looked at it and went "f-ed if I know" and referred me to, somewhat worryingly, an infectious disease specialist (who is also, oddly, a pediatrician who saw my son at a walk-in one time). Saw that doc this morning and he says it's just a bad flare-up of lichen planus, which I've been seeing a dermatologist for for about the last year. Nothing to worry about, in other words, just the itching keeps me up at night. He gave me a new treatment to try.

No fun. I've been battling psoriasis/excema/yeast skin issues this past year. Oddly despite my dry skin winter seems to be helping. Do you take anything for the itching? I'm lucky and have hydroxyzine for days when the itchiness is bad. Usually it works pretty well and if not the sleeping aspect of it usually means I get some sleep.

Mendalla- If the treatment the dermatologist prescribed isn't working shouldn't you go back to them?

Getting in to see her for anything other than a dire emergency is difficult and my family doctor did not think it was lichen planus so chose this referral rather than trying to get me in to see her. In retrospect, I agree with you but hindsight is 20/20 and all that. She's getting a cc on the referral report.

I see. I had thought if you had seen her once it would be easier to get followup.
Here's hoping your new treatment works.

Derms are in short supply around here and skin cancer gets priority when she has a cancellation so even as a repeat patient, I don't necessarily get in very quickly.

New couch is in place. Phone call yesterday estimated delivery time between 10 and 12 noon. It was here by 10 am. Wow! I thought we'd be lucky to get it by twoish.
It looks great. Seelerman is sitting in his spot with his feet up as I post this. I`ll probably still use the lounge chair most of the time, but it`s nice to have something comfortable for company - and it looks great! (Oops, I already said that - but it does look great)

Glad you're enjoying the great looking couch!

Sorry @Mendalla (and @ChemGal ) for the skin issues. I have itchy skin from hotel rooms and winter, but, nothing compared to what you refer to. I woke up at the hotel and had to put cream on in the middle of the night, but, the moisturizer does help. What is frustrating is not being able to put it on my back!

I am relaxing at home. Finished a mystery today and just relaxing with my youngestson. Floor is down finally in the basement, but, things are just beginning to be moved in. Need to let it settle a bit more.

Pinga - I agree it is HARD to apply creams to your own back. One trick I have used involves a long wooden spoon and one of the partnerless socks we all have. Pull the sock over the working end of the spoon - apply some cream and reach around to at least some of the inaccessible spots.

It is dribbling snow again today here. At least the days are starting to get longer! We had thought of going for a picnic today. Guess I'll do some baking instead.

I went on the "Coldest Night of the Year" Walk yesterday...Turned out to be the 'wettest night' of the year! We waded through many puddles and got splashed more than once by well-wishers driving by and honking horns in support! Our city surpassed its target, which is really, really great, as our economic situation is not too great this year. Our Steel Plant is in bad shape, and many companies have been laying off workers. Our United Way campaign didn't reach its target this year. But I'm glad there is such a show of support for helping the homeless. Kudos to the organizers. This was the fourth year for it, and it has just got bigger and bigger.

I'm glad you are here. Has the snow melted in your neck of the woods at all?
Thanks.

We got 51cms on Tuesday but most of it melted this weekend but we still have quite a bit and it is wet. Our new super didn't think to check the roof so we had a significant flood yesterday when the water started to pour (as in Niagara Falls) down one of the elevator shafts. But they got it fixed quickly so that's good. If the canal doesn't open back up it will be the shortest season ever.

I had a hard time getting back on - it keeps unremembering me which means my brain has to remember.

Yeah ours was one of the warmest nights of the year and it was very wet and they broke a record which was good.

Apparently there is a cream applicator on amazon that lets you put cream on your back too.
