For a significant birthday, I bought my husband a trip to the barrens. He flew into Yellowknife, then flew into a lodge. It was fall, so barrens in the fall, caribou, and the Northern Lights. It was a trip designed for photographers, and we have some beautiful shots around the house to remind us of the beauty.

Northern lights are amazing. My first viewing was at Bay of Fundy. Those ones appeared white and swirled around. We often saw them up north. They were green and orange up there and filled the night sky. Magical.

I love how James Keelaghan writes about the lights in this song

Saw Northern Lights once when driving between Cambridge and Kitchener near Blair (on the banks of the grand river).
Stunning
I know that stretch of road. It's a lovely drive (or used to be). Must have been great to see the northern lights!

I'm ready for my second cup. I got up early while it was cool to cook some chicken and do a bit of cleaning before I collapse in the heat.

I have seen a little bit of northern lights, not the whole sky full, just a bit of changing green. It must be impressive up north.

I remember one year at the cottage it was like a veil across the north end of the lake. And that's not that far North, either. About the same latitude as Halifax, in fact. The problem is that it's just a bit too far South so you really only get good displays in a solar maximum, which happens c. every 11 years. We are at a minimum right now with the next maximum expected between 2023 and 2026 (just in time for my 60th birthday if I'm lucky :D ).

I've seen them a few times although not ideal viewing environment. Chemguy and my sister have had better views with work locations/travel - less populated, further north.

Yeah, I haven't done that drive in a very long time. Since I left K-W, probably. Other than visiting my brother near Chicopee, I haven't been to Kitchener much of late.

Would there be one for a WC header?

We used to enjoy the northern lights when we lived in the farm. Most often they were green, but occasioanlly they were shot through with other colours. Glorious. Alas, there is too much light in town and too many buildings in the way.

Good morning folks. Hmm. Where the cart? Don't remember where everything is.

Dishes are heard being rattled

Oh wait, there's the urn.

Coffees on

I took my 90 year old neighbours to the city yesterday to visit her sister, who is 92. The sister has one son, who is supposed to help her out, but there is some suspicion that he has been moving her money to other accounts and spending it. He does not leave her any paperwork and she is getting more and more worried, especially after she heard that his wife has been saying that the house is hers. The son has a power of attorney. The sister has significant short term memory problems and word finding problems. She is mostly alone all day. So, now I am going to help my neighbours to find out if the son has changed the deed. The sister would like to move the POA to someone she trusts more, like her niece.

Yes, Red slept in. Thanks Pinga. If this year had gone as planned, Red would be on holidays right now. However, and one J. Lennon said years ago, 'Life is what happens when you've made other p;ans.'

Red was resting well on the other side of the conscious line ... red-lined? Like a lion in the SAN's ...

Good morning, all. The coffee cart is up and functional. REnjoy the day!

Good morning Red. I brought homemade quiche for breakfast if anyone's interested. We finally appear to have a break in the heat wave. So blessedly cool overnight, and the humidity is gone for now.

yum, homemade quiche sounds so good.

Yes, delightful to have the humidity gone. Woke up and had a nice quiet coffee from the tray, then made my husband his. Love waking up when the world is quiet.
