They will learn soon! The bank/mortgage company may help them run some numbers to get a more realistic view of things - and who knows if they'll get the mortgage - possibly won't happen. But yes - they won't listen to you - really, you're JUST the mom, what could you possibly know?Junior Anteater and his GF ( he is 22 and she is 20) are buying a house. Just waiting to see if they get a mortgage, but they already signed the offer. House is 80 yrs old, a starter home. They just have $10000 downpayment and part of that is her education loan she didn't use up. I am worried, but of course, they don't listen. They think they don't want to pay rent for someone else and not getting anything out of it. But honestly, how long is the life expectancy of a wooden house, if its already 80 yrs old?
Once they got the mortgage, they will have a home inspection. He has a job with VW, she works part time in a group home.
I don't think they have any idea what costs are coming at them...
Oh, no, no cosigning. Her dad and grandparents had been through the house with them (dad is electrician) and I was the last one they told. They knew why..They will learn soon! But yes - they won't listen to you - really, you're JUST the mom, what could you possibly know? They will learn lots - some of it the hard way & that's hard to watch. I totally understand your concern, but likely nothing you can do to change their minds - so don't cosign the mortgage and stand by to offer input when (and only when) asked.
Those who have friends underage that look somewhat similar to them. Doesn't even need to be legally underage, many of the clubs around here sometimes got sticky about letting those under 25 in, although it was typically males they weeded out that way.Oh dear.
Who loans a license?
Watch out for whiplash! It often shows up after the fact. Hopefully the insurance goes smoothly.Yes - I initiated a claim with my insurance company; will go to collision reporting centre later in the day to file a police report. Have to go to the airport this afternoon to pick somebody up - had a neighbour come to check that all my rear lights are in good working order after the event. It'll get sorted out ... just inconvenient! Hopefullly her insurance is legit - otherwise I'll have to pay deductible.
I think it will be a long drive homeLittle M has some money invested already that is supposed to be seed money for a future downpayment. Now if he would just stop investing in speculative stocks like medical pot growers ...
Anyhow, it is his problem now. Tomorrow morning we leave Ottawa without him. He's got a cozy (read "small") private room in residence and seems to be getting to know people already. We took him to dinner tonight and his mood seems good. We shall see how things go once we are 6 hours away.![]()
