Molasses ginger cookies coming up - hot from the oven. A break from my usual nutritious oatmeal raisin cookies.
Spend the day waiting in vain for Seelergirl to drop in. I haven't seen her for a week,--she lives 15 min away, and works even closer. I'm used to seeing her more often. I phoned a couple of days ago - she was supposed to drop in a few minutes last evening but phoned that she was running late. She told me that she had today off, and would drop around. But it hasn't happened. I hope that there isn't anything wrong in her life - other than the usual hastle of kids, work, health, etc. I think that her (soon to be) eX might be giving her some trouble - either money or house (he's living in it) or kids.

Hoping all is okay in her world too, seeler. Hopefull she just is busy and will stop in soon.

@Seeler I love those cookies, I better just take 2 and them move them far away from me :)
@Beloved , @Hilary I'll put up with the lactose in ice cream, but that coconut stuff is delicious! Superstore carries it, Beloved, maybe you can check with a loblaw's store that's near you to see if they will carry it? It's pretty popular.

I've been reading but not posting while away. I'll write a longer post when I'm home but I had something happen today that I just had to share!

I had two things I wanted to do site seeing wise this trip, one of which was Buckingham Palace. Today, my last, was the only day that worked so away we went. The Palace was cool but the best part was...I ran into family from Canada!!!

I was in the gift shop and an older lady came over too look at the same section. I stared for a while before telling my friend she looked the spitting image of my Great Aunt but didn't think it could be until her son (my mom's cousin) walked up too! So of course I said hello and it turns out my Great Aunt and four other relatives were there from London, Ontario and we happened to run into each other!

Seelergirl and her man dropped in last evening. They are busy - putting their house on the market - lots of de-cluttering, tidying, plus. And the fact that they live on the other side of the river and one of the two bridges has been partially closed for repairs meaning that they have to get to work before the rush each morning - and back across the bridge before 4:00 each afternoon means that they can't just 'drop in', but have to make plans. Last evening they stayed on this side after work, had dinner in a restaurant, and dropped in before going home (after the rush on the bridge).

Next week they'll be dropping my Grandson here for me to take to VBS, so I'll see them for a few minutes each morning (they'll try to get across the bridge before 7:00 so I better be up early.)

Seeler, glad you saw them. Glad grandson is going to vbs.

We had lots of rain again yesterday in the evening. I am so far behind at work that I should be working long hours, but I find my self struggling to be motivated to do so. Normally, I would just roll up my sleeves and do a few nights to catch up. Oh well. Maybe tonight.

Had a great visit with my niece and nephew and nieces boyfriend who are visiting Ontario from their home in the US. They stayed for a few hours, we ordered in some dinner, and had laughs and shared stories. Good to hang with them.

I get mine at Save-on-Foods. I don't think there are any of those as far east as MB though. In the meantime, I'm willing to virtually share mine. Will you ask your swell husband to pick up a carton of vanilla for me too, Beloved?

A friend and I once drove 45 miles for french fries and a hamburger. When you live in the country distances are different. People drive to town for movies, shopping, entertainment, to work or take courses. An hour's drive over secondary roads is pretty normal. Just for a hamburger was just a bit extreme.

I hope sighsnootles is okay in Wpg. They got lots of rain and flooded downtown Wpg. this afternoon. Saw on the news. I don't know her new
username here.

Yes, I got some in Winnipeg, at Superstore - unfortunately no Superstore or Loblaw's near me. My local grocery stores don't carry it, but the health food store south of her does. So I have 5 containers - should last me a long time til I get to the city again.

Haven't watched news all week with having company . . . didn't know there was flooding! Hope everyone is okay.

It's my last day of summer holidays. Work tomorrow. With reluctance as teachers' strike in BC is not settled. Hoping for a speedy resolution.

Greetings of the day, Roomies!

Enjoy your last day to the fullest, Tabitha . . . and then enter into your new year with zest and vigor :)!

I was talking to my SIL in BC, and she told me that her grandchildren don't know when they will start school . . . that because it is not yet settled yet, it is unlikely it will be after the long weekend as usual, and that if it is settled soon, that it will still take a few weeks to get things up and running.

This makes me sad as it is the children who are losing out.

How come there is no intervention in this strike?

Indeed - I do hope the teacher's strike will soon be resolved. Tab - are OTs in BC unionized?

Second day of VBS. I'm the assistant for the group of 9 - 12 year olds - five boys and one girl. Grandson is in the group. Today we mixed dough for ginger cookies - 1/2 the group measured and mixed dry ingredients; the others creamed the margarine, sugar, eggs and molasses. Then all took turns stirring it together.
It's been hot and humid - humidex 40 today - so we will wait until Thursday (predicted cooler) before putting the oven on and doing the cooking. The group will decide what we will do with them - I've told them about always needing cookies for the Wednesday morning people who come to the church looking for help.
The leader is an amazing teacher. I'm impressed at how she is getting the best out of these children.

Some days I really feel like I just can't win. I had an appointment last week. An attack started on my way (I had just had the screening, so had missed a preventative dose). I got to the clinic, was put in a room to infuse myself. Some days it's just next to impossible to do it alone, I need an extra hand. I ended up getting help, but neither of the nurses really knew what they were doing with the butterfly needles. They had it multiple times and lost it because they would insert it all the way and tape it down hard, like you would if you were going to walk around with an IV pole or something. They also screwed up my appointment, and had cancelled it! If I had known, I probably would have had better luck doing things at home, with my set up, an adjustable chair, etc. At least it got done eventually, but my hands are a mess now. I actually went back to the clinic for my next dose because I was too scared I wouldn't get it with my limited spots, I can't use a site that's bruised.

Then today, I went to pick up 2 prescriptions. One was new. They couldn't figure out what it was exactly, why this wasn't mentioned when I dropped it off I don't know. The other really annoys me, the last time I picked stuff up I asked if I had refills for it and I was told I did. I had a doctor's appointment since. Today, when dropping off the new prescription I asked for it. Turns out they don't have it on file for me at all - dunno why that wasn't mentioned.
