Saw my doctor today. She sent me for a blood test about a week ago and wanted to discuss with me the results. She said my uric acid level is too high. She wants me to avoid red meat, seafood, and red wine (not that I drink alcohol anyway).

Sunday we held another planning meeting for our Committee exploring becoming Affirming. We are in the final stretch now and hope to have a vote before summer. On Feb. 7th the Very Rev. Peter Short (former moderator) will be giving the message during the regular worship service and then leading a 'conversation' with those who might have questions or comments over coffee in the church parlor. This will be the third of four 'conversations' and be focused on the theological aspects of Affirming.
From very discouraged in September (with our committeee down to two from the original five - one had moved to another city, another was away for an extended time - we are now back at five members) we are enthused and energized.

How many on the Committee are opposed to becoming Affirming?
 
Because why would you volunteer to serve on a committee whose mandate were to become an Affirming congregation if you were opposed to the idea?

Wyrd morning here in Central Ontario. My dog guy was a few minutes late; I greeted him at the (damp) doorway with "happy spring, Jim!", and he said "yeah, couple minutes late because I nipped home to shed a couple of layers for the weather..."

I thought that the Committee's task was to lead the congregation in considering whether or not to become Affirming. If such was the case, there should have been a balance of opinion on the Committee.

Why did Atticus take part in the KKK ... to see what was going on inside a sacred institution? Does western demographics despise our seeing such stuff turned inside out? Such is the nature of the soul culture ... turning ...
 
If you would like to know how an Affirming structure is set, then I bet @Seeler would be happy to start a thread on that topic. It's been a while since our church became affirming, and it might be interesting to see the various structures that groups have used.
 
How do the disadvantaged and oppressed share with the wealthy ... humour on the demos scale as you can't tell those about po' reality the truth about how we got this way ... extraction?

Something Ali Baba was druid on ... or drawn out as conflict of the other kind ... out there ... in sans ... beyond what demos can iterate ... thus Ali iteration from the Aramaic ... Je Sous tongue?
