I hate "undecorating" - the house looks bare afterward. So I will leave everything in place, probably until next weekend.
I actually enjoy the process of "undecorating". . . In recent years I have started to do it on Boxing Day. My things all go out at the beginning of December so I am ready by Boxing Day to start packing them away.

I take my time and do the job over a few days.

The big nativity set is staying up for another week. I can't take it down before epiphany.

Makes sense!

My nativity set is by Cherished Teddies (teddy bear figurines) so I have always packed it away with the other teddy bears.

I didn't actually finish erecting and decorating my tree until the 24th, so I think I'll leave it up until next weekend. But I quite like undecorating too, in that one can savour the origin of the balls and other ornaments as you find their boxes.

The spouse finds it difficult hump to get over and undo ... Christmas epiphanies !

Almost like an ongoing conception ...

My cloud ice bicycle at her flower core today - taxing down Shrift stuff and begin in to get ready for Valentine Day - the coring before the dimmer that ice Mother Day.

Just updated my retirement notices, including changing dates from original retirement date and removing some of the folks on my "close workrelationships" list given they are no longer with the company.

Feels good.

Decorating for Christmas has become much easier since we passed on a lot of the 'stuff' to our younger generation. We used to cut a real tree - now we have an artificial one. We used to decorate window sills, shelves etc. but no more. A couple of years ago we decorated 'enough' and invited the young to share out the things that were left - which they did in what looked and sounded like a cheerful and fair way. I spotted 'our' things being used in their houses this year!

Crazyheart - I just scroll past posts that sound like gibberish!

Thanks Kay

First of all I can't keep drawers and closets neat. They start out that way and then Whoop!!

the before pics. I have got rid of most of my church stuff but still have books,

children's Time stuff, sermons, stuff , stuff. Mike Patterson . believe, said throw

it all in the recycling. I did and I still have stuff,

At Christmas, my youngest son said _"Mom,you have enough decorations to decorate the tree at

the Legislature", I have ,concervatively a thousand pair of ear rings.

I am not a hoarder, They are all needed(some day)

Do you ever feel if you get rid of your stuff, part of you is gone?

Hahaha

Click on the person's profile name to the left of their post. You will see a pop-uo of their profile. on about middleright of that frame, you will see the word "ignore". click on it.
The only thing that acts wierd is I can't trust alerts to tell me if a thread has been commented on. I have to use "new posts"

I don't usually miss the extra things I dispose of. I enjoy having more success when I look for something!

My drawers aren't tidy either Crazyheart. They are organised sufficiently to be useful.....(Socks go in 'this' drawer, if they won't easily fit some old socks must go elsewhere - like out the door. Only totally worn out things go to hubby for rags - everything else is given directly to someone who can, and will, use it, or to the Thrift Store).

Maybe it is because I grew up with little and spent many years living below the poverty line as an adult, but I just seemed to have lost any urge to consume for the sake of it. To me, that is the basic cause of 'clutter', that urge to keep buying.

In my case, a lot of my clutter comes from other people. I live in my childhood home, surrounded by my parent's stuff. I've gotten rid of lots of it, but it lingers. Also, I have a peripatetic sister who leaves stuff here, and two children, both of whom consider my house their storage unit. Also, when my guy's house busts a seam with crap, I seem to inherit the overflow.

Kay, I thought that living below the poverty line as a kid

(I didn't realize it then because in a small town, every one but a few were in the

same straits) but it makes me appreciate thrift stores, garage sales, rummage sales. I hate to buy

new when there are so many good second hand stuff around.
