Ugh. I wish you lived closer. I've got extra drywall and other materials I could bring and replace or repair any bad materials that have to go.Living in a bit of choas here in the County. Personally my power was off for 5 days but I was only home for the the last 3. No power means no furnace ( i do not have fireplace or wood burning stove) and no water. I had picked up 3 very large water containers on way home. I rented the last generator available in town and bought a small heater. Generator only had 1 plug and yes heater was too small for my house but largest said generator could run. Generator ran out of gas. I refilled it but thought it prudent to refill gas gan, and my car's gas tank and a spare container of gas. Came home . My freezer alaram went as I was unloading car. (It signals freezer temp dropping to critical level). Turned it off. Was pull starting generator when Hurrah, power came back on. This means content of chest freezer is fine to use.
Internet the next morning. Cell service by end of day. Life can return to normal. Did some work. Returned generator.
Woke to no furnace and cold house Sunday morning. A look in the basement showed 18 inches of water. Still dealing with aftermath of that. Water is gone, furnace and hot water tank will need replaced. Small heater keeps living room 11-14.
I'm tired of being resourceful and resilient.
Went through that with the old place I owned in Hamilton. Fortunately, it was only a part basement under the newer part of the house and was just used as a furnace and utility room. I went down maybe a couple times a year tops to change furnace filters or the odd time a fuse blew. It was a blocked trap in the household drain backing up in my case.A look in the basement showed 18 inches of water.
Forgot you were back in Ontario. I have a big bottle of Concrobium you can use, but it sounds like you're on that.My basement is cinder blocks and cement floor so no drywall needed but thanks. (you do know I am back in Ont. I assume). Basement had unused old well, covered with a piece of wood. Water table rose. I had rubbermaid type boxes with quilting fabric. They floated and /or tipped over. That, beside furnace and hot water tank are only damage. Grateful for insurance. I did attempt to get well filled in this summer. The one company that I could find was going to dump cement in it. My online reading suggested more was needed so work didn't happen.
My tall neoprened tidal pool paddling boties were just above the water if if walked slow, so in I waded.
Kudos to my minister who came over with his sump pump (and sandwiches from yesterdays funeral) and got my sump pump gong and added his. He did not have high boots. The restoration company arrived at 130, added a big pump and worked until 5 hauling stuff out and disinfecting.
He fecking raked your yard? Can you believe the gall of that guy?If chansen offers to help you grab him. The man finishes a job he starts. After he split up and moved my broken heavy limbs, he fecking raked the downed twigs from the front yard.

At our lab the virtual line is a little faster than the walk-in line. But it's not a huge difference.
Have fun on your girls date.
