Two things which have become a higher priority this week in the household maintenance budget: a chainsaw, a small generator.

Moved all the mid-sized branches I could manage this afternoon. It's fecking snowing, so I'm not worried about the twigs. Upon further examination, while I still think my 40 year old honey locust will be fine, there's an upper limb which lost a significant enough side branch that I think it may be itself somewhat dangerous, so when the dust settles, I'll see if my young arborist friend can come over and give me her opinion.

Now I somehow have to get this house organized so that a large man with quite a lot of stuff can move in here. Godde help us both.

@Nancy and anyone else, what i said to Mendalla also applies to you :3

If you need a break from the hubbub of your area, let me know and schtuff

I can tourguide you around in my capacity as Kaslo Evangelist and general knower of the area and people...

A friend from Germany contacted me and wants to come in August. She’d stay in NS for a week but also wants to see Niagara Falls. She hasn’t booked anything yet. I am worried she is a bit late- after all, all those Canadians that are now vacationing in Canada instead of the US will be going somewhere. ( on the other side, there are likely less Americans coming as well- because they are worried about re-entry into the US. ) Used to Europe, she was thinking of traveling by train or by bus- not sure if this is really an alternative to the car here. And I think that Greyhound is no longer, is it? Any suggestions where to stay and how to get there would be appreciated.
Your friend if they like busses might want to check oot Home | Maritime Bus ?
Various outbreaks at my mom’s nursing home and I’m sure hoping I dodge all the sicknesses before my April 15th surgery date!
Be well and may your surgery and recovery go swimmingly

A handsome/beautiful nurse can help, too :3

Good morning! Between cleaning up after the ice is gone, outbreaks in care homes, organizing a house for a new occupant, and all the other things from yesterday, plus the topics of today, we have a lot to talk about. We join in spirit round the Coffee Cart to discuss, support, laugh, cry, and enjoy each other's company. Today we have croissants, and I believe there is a box of Peeps (Easter is coming) to enjoy. The coffee is fresh brewed, tea water ready to use, and the croissants warm, soft and flaky. All is ready, all are welcome. Come in and join the conversations!

They even say there is an outbreak of know-how about dark energy as it spreads ... a vast unknown racing away ... because of lack of curiosity and interest in the paradigm (by any other word)! Para lacks ...

Sorry @Northwind about the loss of your friend. I’m heading to our local Scripture Shop to buy a couple of sympathy cards today. Both are exceptionally sad… Daughter’s brother-in-law leaves behind a 9 year old step-son, whose biological father died a few years ago. Two big losses for the little guy. And the other card is for a friend whose brother became electrocuted installing a camera/doorbell. As a friend said recently….Sometimes life sucks.

Two big losses for the little guy.
Holy hell. That's nasty. Two fathers gone before he even hits adolescence. And I thought losing my mother in my thirties was rough (she was younger than I now am). Vibes to the family and to your's friend's family.

Impressive thunderstorms overnight and still really dark here. Just a chance of showers now, though. All warnings lifted. Apparently, we might even get some glimpses of something called a "sun".

Off to work now and keeping a weather eye on the insanity to the South of us. My own employer is a healthcare company so unless Canada tariffs medical equipment, we aren't affected too badly. Our corporate group, on the other hand, has been moving some production in their medical device business around so that all manufacturing for the US is done at a US division, while Canada looks after the rest of the world (they mostly sell in North America and Europe, though they have presence in Asia).

Lord ... you gave me a mountain ... and things are complex , if not sophisticated enigma for the alternate to those winning ... have appreciation!

Many do not, or cannot observe what is presented up Cloes ... (kleos) rising tides in waves of times ... reflecting from the beach head?

New things observed by a rare folk ... they actually looked for it! Awash on the strand ...

So much news in the room. Thinking of you who are facing challenges, helping friends problem-solve, or helping others navigate loss.

It's April, and the weather has been crazy the last week.

We had amazing storms from 1am to around 2am last night. Woke me up, so I stayed up & enjoyed the power.
I had driven home in a blizzard at noon yesterday, and now it is going to be 18 today. what??? I imagine people who suffer from migraines will have experienced some tough times as the weather bounces around.

Be well.

I've only had one so far but not feeling 100% today. We'll see how things shake out. Figures it would happen on the day when I'm the office rather than yesterday when I was WFH.

Wow @Nancy that's rough. Poor kid.

I better get moving. My day starts with bloodwork, then off to the city for lunch and then doctor. I've been feeling great lately. I'm hoping that's a sign the new treatment has done its thing.

On our way to the city on a sunny day. I checked Gas Buddy to see what the gas prices were along the way. It said Shell was 1.55. When we got there it was 1.78. Others in the area were 1.55.

Thinking of the loss of your friend, Northwind.

Thx to the efforts of a dear friend here, my front yard is clear of branches, including raking all the small branches up. Took us an hour (I had done most of the ones that one small person could drag yesterday afternoon).Very kind. Saved me hours of grief and work. There appears to be no awful damage, although the tree will need a look at it, and there is a sword of Damocles waiting to come down on me when I cut the lawn one day...

My largest and oldest smoke bush lost two large main stems, but it will be fine.

We had a great lunch with our friends at a waterside restaurant. We've just left the oncologist. All was good. In fact, excellent. Scans were good. Blooldwork was good. She said I look the best she's seen me look in awhile. She also gave me a hug.

Now we're leaving the city at rush hour. It involves going over a busy mountain......

This should be such a great weekend. My oldest sister and her husband are visiting Korea. They've the first of my family to ever make the trip. We have no absolute plans but it will be fun

The drive home was good. We didn't have to endure a line up and traffic jam getting on to the mountain. That was a little crazy and lucky. I'm not complaining at all for the record. Oh, and we passed the gas station where we got gas this morning. The price was back down to 1.55. Geez.

Good morning! We remember those who have lost loved ones and close friends; we give thanks for good medical appointments; for those who help clear branches from the yard; for family coming to visit; for nice smooth drives to and from places; and all the things that will come up today. We gather in spirit round the Coffee Cart, to chat over the events and thoughts of the day, to drink tea or coffee, indulge in squares and brownies and find and offer support. The coffee is ready, tea water boiling, and goodies fresh and warm from the oven. All is ready, all are welcome. Come join in the conversations!

Growl. My yard needs some cleanup and between the ground being sodden from yesterday and more rain forecast for tomorrow, guess it won't be this weekend. I think first yard waste pickup is still a week or two off so not desperate yet. No big plans otherwise right now but we'll see what comes up. Off for bloodwork today but its routine stuff that rarely turn up anything significant. Just part of life as a type 2 diabetic.
