Good morning! Happy New Year's Eve Day! The assertiveness in getting a medical procedure scheduled, hoping all had a good day yesterday, and will come tell us about it at the Coffee Cart. Join us at the Cart for coffee (fresh brewed, of course), tea (water is at the boil) hot chocolate, and holiday cookies. Also the last of the fruitcake. Come in when you can, have a cup or mug, something from the baked goodies, and join the conversation. All is ready, all are welcome. Have a safe, wonderful day!

Sleep in today?
Thanks for the coffee!

Any attempt I might ever have made at a regular schedule is now totally screwed up by Lucy's passing. And the big guy's been away doing a Christmas visit with his family, so no-one to suggest meals. I had a granola bar for brunch, a sandwich for dinner. There might be some ramen for a late supper.

I did, however, get all of the garland and Christmas balls off our tree while I was over feeding the fish.

Went to bed last night at 11 PM. First time I can recall not staying up to welcome in the new year. It was a quiet New Year's Eve last night here in Korea for just about everyone

That comes with age ( and the lack of fireworks that will wake you up). I haven’t been up until midnight for quite a few years now.

I saw a patient this week who had a joint replacement for 35 years. ( now it’s due to be redone). That’s the longest I have ever heard of. Our surgeon is sending them to another specialist and joked with them saying he wasn’t even born when they got that.

Good morning! Happy New Year! Hope everyone has a safe and joyful day. The Coffee Cart is up and running, with fresh brewed coffee, steeped tea, and hot chocolate, as well as a nice selection of doughnuts and danishes, warm from the oven Come in when you have a chance, share in the refreshments, and join the conversations and support! All are welcome, all is ready. Come and get it!

Good morning and Happy New Year!! Yeah, we watched This Hour last night. First time in a while. Nice to see Colin Mochrie back even if for only one sketch (he was on the show for a couple years after Rick Mercer left). He's one of those actors who seems to be everywhere but his work in sketch comedy and improv are what stand out.

Yobo gave me a great birthday party today - pizza, chicken, and cake, followed by seeing the movie Harbin. What a totally amazing time! She's such a great wife. I'm blessed

We had our family Christmas yesterday. It was a more of a New Years event, which was quite nice, with Thai food for lunch. Although I absolutely love cooking, I appreciated being able to sitdown to a meal, then enjoy time together, without all the prep.

Now, I am busy doing prep for our extended gathering on my husband's side for Saturday. There will be around 30people here.
making lists, and checking them twice.

bonfire with hotdogs & smores
Santa & Mrs. Claus will be here
santa gifts are ready for kids
santa gifts are getting close for adults
most of our gifts to the kids is done 10/10 pj's & shirts done, 9/10 of the bags are done.
planning apps & desserts today, along with the games
tomorrow is shopping and then friday is dessert making
for dinner, getting southern bbq catered
drinks: hot chocolate, apple cider, soda, water, beer, wines, christmas cocktail,
house is clean enough, will do a final vacuum & washroom check before folks arrive

not much planning happening for trip to japan -- but, that's ok.
It will be an adventure.

Now, what am i forgetting?

That's quite an undertaking but should be fun once you get there. Probably also fun when it is over and you can breath easy. :giggle:

We had dim sum for lunch today (Chinese brunch of various smallish dishes). That's as close as we've come to a special New Year's meal.

Happy New Year everyone......we did stay up until 12 and then watched all the New Years Celebrations around the world.
Boy that Dubai one was amazing....using lasers? Cuts back on the air pollution and some countries used drones in amazing patterns!

And Happy Birthday @Jae
Nice to hear Yobo treats you well and you appreciate it.

We did not make to midnight but, yeah, that's what we did after 22 Minutes was over. Sydney, London, Dubai, Taipei, Shanghai (another interesting drone show), Singapore. I think that's the ones we saw. Interesting how both Dubai and Taipei make use of their megastructures (Burj Khalifa and Taipei 101 respectively) in their shows. The Burj has residences in it, though, so not sure how that plays out.

I am becoming quite fond of the drone shows, really. I mean, fireworks are bright and noisy but a well-programmed drone show is a whole new level of entertainment. The Shanghai New Year's show had the drones form a fairly good image of Chinese legendary figure Sun Wukong (aka Monkey King) at one point, and at another an ancient Chinese soldier waving his arm.

Happy New Year friends. We had a quiet evening last night. This morning I made a strata which is sort of a casserole with croissants, egg, sausage, mushrooms and cheese. It turned out good. We're heading out for supper tonight. I have my every three month infusion this afternoon. Yup, on New Years Day. They're open every day of the year apparently.
