Quiet day today. I was driven home last night after several glasses of wine, LOL, so had to walk to the big guy's this morning. I'm clearly more out of shape already, from not walking Lucy (it's only 1.2 km; and essentially the same walk I made to and from five years of high school). Made traditional Boxing Day sandwiches: lightly toasted white sourdough, turkey, a bit of stuffing, a dab or two of cranberry sauce, lettuce and mayo. For dinner, I heated gravy and made my special braised brussel sprouts, then nuked turkey, stuffing, mashed, served with salad from yesterday. Big guy started the soup. And he saw a pileated woodpecker at his seed bell this morning.

Boxing day shopping- not happening in NS. Had no traffic driving to work this morning through the shopping area.
Work was exhausting. Since there was only 1/2 day coverage on Christmas eve, none on Christmas day, I had 9 patients to follow up on from before and 12 new referrals- the prioritizing alone stressed me out.
I got to see 11 and read a couple more charts- left lots of notes for the two people on tomorrow- but that is also just minimum coverage.
The stress got my stomach all upset and made it clear to me- since I don’t have to work on weekends and holidays ( it’s not a requirement in my present work position ) and my boss has already said that I could get out of it anytime I wanted, I will actually do that. Weekends used to be slower than weekdays, so I didn’t mind helping out so everybody had to do less weekends, but now they are worse than weekdays- and I left my position on inpatients because of the stress that came with it.

Good morning! Explosive skiing, rinks and sled runs, shopping on Boxing Day (or not shopping), worries about an infant's health, and all the other stuff that may come to mind, we take it all to the Coffee Cart to sort it all out over coffee, tea, hot chocolate, or eggnog, along with fresh fruitcake and cookies. The coffee is fresh brewed, tea water hot, baked stuff is warm from the oven. Come join in the chat, indulge in the goodies, and enjoy the company! All is ready and everyone is welcome.

Good afternoon. Another lazy day here. I'm hoping to get my current knitting project finished today. After that I'll pick up a sweater that's been hibernating and work towards finishing it.

Our rainfall warning lifted yesterday morning and it has been mostly grey since. The sky had some blue patches and the sun made brief appearances yesterday.

Back to knitting.

Got a good group of ski racers. I was learning names and teaching the basics today. We'll start going faster soon enough.

Had a wonderful Christmas! What was the best thing you got for Christmas and why?
Of course the non material is the best, family, friends, spouses, etc but I'm referring to the material presents.
Did you get what you wanted or even something you didn't know you wanted!

The wife and I got ourselves a pasta maker. It's pretty easy, if a fair bit of cleanup. It's all part of a plan to eat better and less packaged and prepared foods.

My daughter got to pick out an electric guitar and amp. The amp has lots of effects built in. She's quite happy.

The son got Lego. Lots of Lego.

Our younger generations decided a few years ago that they didn't want to do gifts around the family anymore. Haven't quite understood why as they still buy for the other side relatives. Oh well. There is less busyness this way and more money to donate to charities we think do a good job.
It was a quiet day - got to chat to the Alberta family though, which was fun. They are the branch with little ones so there was lots of excitement there. Also had lots of sausage rolls etc. and no one to share them with so we were a bit greedy.

My guy went to a s**t ton of effort to find me Licorice AllSorts, which, have, unaccountably, fallen out of favour. My mother always bought me licorice allsorts. (I also got a beautiful leather jacket with a fur-lined hood that perfectly matches the gorgeous mukluks he found me last year.)

My daughter has some new bits for her kitchenette area: an induction cooking surface and a small pot and frypan that work with it.

The big guy got the dart board he was looking for. And part of a hat, which I had to take back and give to sister. Apparently I have dropped a stitch and created one...

My youngest son came to Korea to visit us for his Christmas holiday. He brought with him as his gift to me 4 kg of my favorite candy, Rockets. It was the best gift because they're my favorite and especially because they're from him

Good morning! How is everyone? It's Saturday, for those of you who tend to lose track of time during the holidays. The coffee is on, water for tea and hot chocolate is boiling, and the bagels are deliciously warm and soft. Fruitcake with marzipan is still with us, too. As we chat about favourite gifts, and the events around us with skiers and clients, let us gather round about the Coffee Cart. Indulge in the goodies, enjoy the hot drinks (or the egg nog, if you prefer), and join in conversation and support for each other. All is ready, all are welcome. Come join in the chats!

Already raining here this morning and the snow is disappearing, but I'm happy we had some snow for Christmas.
Today will be a lazy day to do just whatever comes up. And it looks like leftover turkey again tonight.
We decided to leave the decorations up until after New Year's Day. Some of the neighbors took down their outdoor lights on boxing day!
Sounds like many got some wonderful gifts and memorable visits with family.

Raining here today too. I haven’t been out walking much and that will need to change soon. Today is a day of odd jobs. I’m trying to get rid of an old laptop so will take pictures and other stuff off it. And I have a box of old sermons to sort through. I lead worship at our church tomorrow so I’ll have to practice that a few times. It’s not a great message but I hope it has something of value for someone.

Yes I think it’s called Low Sunday. Our minister takes that Sunday off every year so, for me, it has become a regular assignment.
