I used to like superheroes but it seems to have got to be too much for me to keep up with anymore. I loved it when it was Superman, Batman and maybe the Flash. My grandson went on and on about the superheroes he knows....a huge list.
Our new super power in my house will be navigating my husband's cancer diagnosis. It doesn't seem real at the moment. Waiting for scheduling with the cancer clinic. I know many of you have walked this walk before...but it's new to me, and quite scary.

Waiting is the worst! Things get better once treatment starts. Feel free to reach out to me if there's anything I can do to support you.

Hope the waiting is minimal - as Northwind said "Waiting is the worst". Also hoping for prompt and effective treatment without distressing side effects. As with many health difficulties it is important to remember to BREATHE.

I used to read some of the Marvel titles back in the day, but I have never been a huge comic book geek. And some of my favorite titles were non-superhero ones. Marvel used to have a good WWII title about Nick Fury's (the original Nick Fury, not the one played on screen by Samuel Jackson.) adventures as a sergeant leading a commando team in that war. And I've never read much DC. I am a fan of Batman based more on TV and Movies than comics. Ditto Superman and Wonder Woman.

Footnote: The version of Fury played by Jackson originated in a comic series called The Ultimates that also had alternative riffs on other Marvel characters. It's also where the Miles Morales version of Spiderman, now popularized by Into The Spiderverse, started.

Good morning! As we walk in spirit with those dealing with a cancer diagnosis, as we hope the superhero era of blockbuster movies is drawing to its conclusion, as we return to theaters to watch movies, let us gather round the coffee cart, and begin the day with hot beverages and community. All is ready.

I just completing a tome called LESS ... not for those of avarice because it was something of a literary abstract that is rejected by those expecting only concrete absolutes ... and thus established and unmoving learning curves ...

I highly recommend the new Downton Abbey movie if you're a Downton fan. As usual, the photography and music were awesome. They enhanced the storyline beautifully. We caught up with the characters and met new people. There was love, laughter, some mystery and of course tears. DA is so good at messing with emotions. Best line “Stop all that noise. I can't hear myself die!”

Greetings everyone. I thought about inviting you all for coffee in the backyard today, but changed my mind. It isn't because I don't want to spend some time with you, it is the fault of the weather. I kinda doubt any of you want to sit outside in the snow. I seem to have lost track of the date - it feels like January 50 something.

It is gorgeous. Finished a shift at work, picked up some annuals, and a new perennial/trenching spade because mine gave up the ghost last summer. Went for an ash shaft this time, as it was the fibreglass shaft that gave way on the old one. Only problem is that my near-continuous coughing (tree sex, dontcha know) appears to have reinjured my ribs (they're at least considerably more painful), so I'm not sure digging for the plant sale should happen today...

We had showers this morning and it's still kind of overcast. Supposed to be showers with risk of a thunderstorm overnight tonight and then showers on Sunday. Tomorrow daytime and Monday look okay, though.

I just pulled a bunch of plants in, it's warm enough to harden them off, but the wind is too much. Have some still out that are sheltered. Feels chilly between the cool temps and the wind, not no snow.
I have heard we may be getting overnight lows under 0 beginning of June :cautious:

First full week of back to work- hand is sore, other hand is, too. Managed to write most of the day with my right hand- and it looks as messy as it used to.
But opening a doorknob at the end of the day is a problem. Also managed for the first time to empty the full litter
box, but only once- dropped it with the water all over the floor instead of the toilet…well, it’s a start. And as the surgeon said- “ you will figure out how heavy is too heavy”.
We got beautiful weather today with 22 degrees and I ordered take out and went for a walk around town for an hour.

Went from chill to hot very quickly today. Used up a container of weed killer on some of the poison ivy in our yard and mowed most of the lawn. Had to water some plants I transplanted yesterday. Our daughter in Calgary called a few minutes ago. It is going to minus 4 there tonight. They had some corn snow or ice pellets this evening.

Good morning! Seems a lot going on-- book and movie recommendations, healing wrists and hands, dropped writing with the other hand ,etc. And, of course, weather. We bring it all with us to the coffee cart, for chats, community, and hot beverages. All is ready, help yourself.

Sunny at present, but I awoke at 6 to gentle rain, and it's supposed to do that much of the day. It will make for easier digging of perennials; alas, I think I've re-damaged my ribs from excessive coughing (tree pollen), so my digging may be limited.

Had a nasty storm roll through just before lunch. Local media are reporting trees down in the core and three library branches closed because of storm-related issues. Heavy rain and very windy. I was keeping an eye out for twisters but I guess it never got quite that bad. From a comment on Twitter by a guy I know in K-W, sounds like it went on hit them.

The start of our southern Ontario severe storm season today - although intense it was fast moving. Mostly okay in my area, but lots of pics on weather network page as it made its trek eastward.
