There's a Christmas store on the main street of a little village I know. It plays Christmas music year round. This summer I asked the owner if she gets tired of it. She said no because she selects it very carefully. And she doesn't start playing her favorite material until a few weeks before Christmas.
I think that's a bit of a special case. If someone is shopping there, that's likely what they expect to hear. But in any general-purpose store? Beginning of December should be enough.

Good afternoon. I just came back from a fabulous hike. It was soooo nice to be outside when it wasn't raining.

This is a view of downtown Nanaimo

The juxtaposition of secular and sacred music in stores & malls is often jarring, I find.
They should stick to the secular stuff. I don't think hymns have a place in a profit-driven, consumer-culture context. But maybe that's just me.

So, my meeting this morning went well. It was nice to see a lot of people I haven't seen in person since March 2020 and also meet the new folks who have joined since then. Here's how it played out:

- Before going, we were to do our usual COVID screener as if we were going to the office
- Vaccine passports checked at door
- Mask required when standing or moving around (including speakers, of which I was one)
- Mask not required sitting at table, but many of us still wore them when not eating or drinking
- Lunch was a soup-salad-sandwich buffet, we went up one table at a time masked

Ironically, the two organizers ended up being virtual. One due to vaccination status (his vaccination was delayed due to allergies) and one due to illness.

Thing is, with it being all people from the same organization and in a private venue (golf club clubhouse), it was much more controlled than a restaurant or bar, so less risk overall than just going out on the town. We had the place to ourselves save for some staff doing vaccine checks, stocking the coffee and lunch table and so on.

Just keep going....
I admit, I have been watching Christmas movies already. I will get my Christmas tree on the 1.Advent so that I am ready to pack it all up by New Years eve.
Treated myself to a Davids tea Christmas calendar when it was 20% off, too.
And I am working on Christmas gifts several time a week, so that I hope to be done early in December.
Christmas parcels went out to Germany today. Postage has really gone up.
Also bought the stamps for the “Write for Rights” initiative from Amnesty. Did that last year for the first time- and as far as I know, three or four of the ten cases had a positive outcome.

Good morning, all! For the onslaught of decorations and music for the holiday season, especially as it seem earlier each year (I've been getting Black Friday ads for at least a month already), let us fortify ourselves with hot beverages. For the jarring mix of usual and Christmas music (and alleged Christmas music) bombarding us, well, kyrie eleison. Anyway, the cart is ready. Help yourself.

Black Friday has got to be the most annoying phenomenon of recent years. I don't recall ever hearing about it prior to about 2000. Once again, an American commercial bandwagon is getting our merchants on board. I can just see them getting ready to lobby Queens Park and Ottawa to adopt American Thanksgiving (over my dead body). I am proud to say that I have never bought anything on Black Friday (yet). Boxing Day ... yeah, that's another whole story. But at least that's OUR commercial bandwagon, or at least we have embraced it since I was in high school or earlier so it's more part of our culture.

Good morning, everybody! I am wearing masks way too much these days. Soon people will start mistaking me for a surgeon. Me, who faints at the site of blood. o_O

Good morning. It's raining here again. :( We got out and enjoyed the dry day yesterday. It was nice.

Having a good pharmacy helps so much. Arranged to have my steroid shot at home. I was concerned, patch testing dermatologist doesn't do any treatments whatsoever. Usually my dermatologist at the phototherapy clinic does it but wasn't sure when I would get in, certainly not this week after testing finishes.
I wasn't sure if it was something that would be prescribed to be done outside of a clinic, pharmacist confirms she can dispense it with a prescription.
I had to talk to a nurse a bit, convince her between my husband and I that we're capable. Got confirmation it's ready to be picked up via fb message. Grateful I can get that in me ASAP tomorrow.

Good morning! Good Pharmacies are a blessing. Hyped-up shopping days, maybe not so much. It's almost the North American equivalence of the running of the bulls at Pamplona. Anyway, we can discuss it (and other things) over tea, hot chocolate, coffee, etc. The cart is ready. Enjoy.

Fourth grandson born yesterday...It was a difficult delivery, ended up being a c-section. His name is Seth and he is surprisingly alert, nursing well already, and is LOADED with a full head of hair. Looking forward to meeting the little guy in person.

Amen. We just use the one in our grocery store and the two main pharmacists (I think there's a third as well) are both terrific to deal with and have been quite helpful when we've had issues. Both are pretty handy with a syringe, too (they do my flu shots).

The pharmacist actually was at the SDM I used to use and started her own (Medicine Shoppe so still a chain) as she found the policies prevented her from giving the best care.

I'm a little bit frustrated with the testing. A lot of uncomfortableness only to find out I'm allergic to nickel (I knew) and PEG. Nothing else came up out of 200 some spots although many were itchy. I am allergic to the tape adhesive. He thinks I have immune problems (really?! ) and some of the chemicals do contribute to some of the skin issues already occurring. No real advise on specifics other than to avoid harsh stuff. It at least helps to know about PEG as that was probably the issue I ran into with eyedrops.

There was a whole tray of scented stuff. Flared up my asthma, sinus allergies. Surprisingly no skin reactions though. I would have just opted to skip those if given a choice.

I am happy to be tape free, clean, and jabbed with steroid.

Good morning! Happy Saturday! As we celebrate new births, and give thanks for good pharmacists, let us join around the cart in community and conversation. All is ready, come and get it.
