Does Second Cup provide paid breaks? What are their benefits like? Why have two rich families - the Horton heirs and the Westons - been doing the bulk of the whining about this?

I get paid breaks. No benefits as I'm a part-time barista.

I have no issue with raising the minimum wage per se. I do think it was handled badly in a rush to get it in before this spring's election. It should have been phased in over 3-4 years, perhaps even 5, not less than 2.

Wynne and her government have a track record of rushing things in before people are ready for them. Sex-ed being another example.

People should be stunned by sex?

I thought excess sex did this to enlighten people from heavy thoughts ... said to be good to relieve stress ... but them with some it reinforce the religion of not knowing ... thus gnomes (little men; as shamed because of what they did to loose thoughts).

Some have lost everything even before the stumping operation ...

Time to try the "I'm not sure blow" ... like ham your a'bi when two do it as demiurge! Hammers the head space ...

My daughter - who's 13 - ordered a cream cheese bagel at Timmies after school a few weeks ago. I picked her up to do some Christmas shopping and she was hungry and there was a Timmies right there. Anyway. She gets the bagel, brings it back to the car and takes it out of the bag. She took a bite and I saw her looking confused. I asked her what was wrong. She said - "there's no cream cheese on it. It's just a dry bagel." We both looked. Turns out there was cream cheese. It was like a big scoop of cream cheese - not spread in any way - that was filling the bagel hole. Seriously. That was their idea of a cream cheese bagel. A dry bagel with nothing on it and a huge ball of cream cheese filling the hole. I told her that we should go back and either get another one or get her money back. She said no. "I don't think I want to go there again, dad." Another customer lost.
And they deserve a 20% raise?

My first job was washing golf clubs at one of the best golf courses of the day for $0.75 / hr. I was 13 years old and on payday lost most of it gambling on the putting green with one of the older caddies.

The best part of that job was that I could golf free as long as I teed off before 6 am.

13 year olds don’t have any mouths to feed, or really any great skills to offer.

They just need a little gambling and beer money. $16 seems a little excess.
I know eh. It is every 13 year-old's dream to get a job for booze and gambling.:confused: Perish the thought that some might use the money for something else.:unsure:

Fortunately, the sky is falling crowd aside, we have the recent model of Alberta to watch for an accurate reflection of what happens when you increase the minimum wage. Best performing economy in the country...

* Newsflash! * Ontario isn't Alberta.

Economic theory? I was not aware there was only one. :whistle:

It sometimes feels like there are as many economic theories as there are economists (my son could elucidate better on that point since he's taking macroeconomics as an elective this semester), however Bette's wording was correct. With no article or other qualifier, "Economic theory" doesn't reference a specific theory, just the generic concept of a theory related to economics.
