"Ye be light of the world; a city set on an hill may not be hid; nor men tendeth a lantern, and putteth it under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that it give light to all that be in the house. So shine your light before men, that they see your good works, and glorify your Father that is in heavens." - Matthew 5:15-16 (WYC).

This is the scripture I think of when I sing it - especially the verse about 'hide it under a bushel'

I don't think in the UCCAN we talk much about Satan or the Devil. Do you UC folk agree or disagree?

Not as much as others that is true.

Can't remember a time that I sang "this little light of mine" and we didn't include the verse about not letting Satan blow it out.

I remember another Sunday school ditty about having the love of Jesus in my heart. One verse of that suggests that if the Devil doesn't like it he can sit on a tack.

Then there is Luther's "A Mighty Fortress" which references Satan several times.

As far as preaching goes I don't find Satan to be interesting fare and I would rather focus on the grace and mercy of God than Satan and all his shenanigans.

Oh and by the way the mild rebuke delivered a few weeks back.

Prior to the start of Sunday's service a parishioner came forward to claim responsibility for causing the offence and shared with me their efforts to be reconciled with the other member they hurt.

We will have to see if that reconciliation takes hold or if it needs some more nurturing. Some steps forward at any rate.

GIT's??

Can these be trained ... or do they resemble Black Cats? There was a blonde one in The Shape of Water .... married to the antagonist (depending on perspective) ... she was causing a noise during dialogue and intercourse and her husband told her to be silent ...

I have doubts ... because someone leaked on what he was up to ... a really wet story ... there are old myths that indicate that water is the sub straight of as' soul ... the antagonist passed before the end of the production ... the dark lass and the monster escaped ... to bite again another Dei ...

God bless the kids ... and please may eternity allow them to learn a little bit about secularism and the breaks when one can have safe delights ... if you know ... to some it is forbidden ... Seder Onate ... watch what's caste ... tis Canon ... in Greek its different ...

I forgot a verse or two-
Take my little light round the block....................
and
I've got love for neighbour................

I seem to recall that we made up verses as we sang - just not remembering them now. It has been a while - I was a Guide in the 50's!

I never liked that it was CGIT. Why the exclusion?
Years ago TUXIS youth parliament was males-only. It and CGIT were sort of counterparts.

Another reason is that it is sometimes very healthy (for males and females) to have single-gender gatherings.
