How was church today?

Pleased to say I'll be gathering with my home church tomorrow morning for worship. I had thought about just hanging out in the woods tomorrow, but feel called to be faithful to my responsibility to actually participate in church. Looking forward to a wonderful and worshipful time.

Ironically I'm in emergency after a doctor dug grit and stones out of my face after a bad bike crash. Just waiting for x-rays now.

Thanks Carolla. Broken big toe and maybe wrist bone. Follow up X-rays in 10 days.

Holy crap. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. I broke a wrist riding back in my teens but only had a scraped knee (as in, lost all the skin on one knee) beyond that. Sounds like you had a nasty one.

Our church is coffee house style this morning. I wonder if any one told the minister yet.

We had Linnea Good in concert last night and it was set up coffee house style with tables. We left it that way for this morning.
Theme is Rivers. I'm doing the kids talk on water. It's also world wide communion. And I'm writing this before our service.

You just never know said:

Well, you lived to tell us the tale. That is a huge plus.

Hope you mend well and have sussed out what went so wrong that you were forced to run your mug up against a grindstone.

Not all experiences need repeating.

Ouch, thinking of you, yjnk and adding prayers/good intentions for a quick and complete recovery.

Church was lovely this a.m. First, it was educational, as I shadowed the sound tech so that I'll be able to do the job when he and his fiancee (the other sound tech) go on their honeymoon in a month or so. And we had a great guest speaker from the Native Friendship Centre to open our Red Dress display who shared some very powerful personal testimony and treated us to a lovely professional slide show featuring a native musician. Did you know that one in two Indigenous women are sexually assaulted during their lifetime? And it was worldwide communion day. The child of a Catholic, I love the open table at our church, but wish we had it a bit more often. However, between one thing and another, it was a very long service, over an hour and a half.

Wonderful worship service today at my home church. Beautiful singing, powerful prayer, a testimony from our new Student Pastor, and Communion. My Pastor gave a really good sermon from 2 Thessalonians about the 2nd Coming of Christ and our need to remain faithful to the Good News.

Did the online worship thing today. Listened to a sermon I had missed earlier in the summer on the Hillhurst website. Speaker was Willow Brocke and her sermon was The Spirituality of Intentional Listening. She was speaking of how we need to put down our own perspectives if we are to hear the perspective of others, A lot to think on so glad I was able to hear this sermon. :)

oh boo to broken bones! Please be a good patient patient - it will pay off in the long run.

You said church online today - I did that yesterday with the worship at the GC42 recall meeting. It was interesting experience to be sitting alone and celebrating communion with over 250 others doing similarly. That was a first for me.

Happy you found an online worship to enjoy. I tried online worship last week when I was home recovering from minor surgery. The church I checked in on was Liberty Grace, located in downtown Toronto. They have a great pastor there, and some really good music.

I celebrated world-wide communion today with some lovely women from a United Church in southern ontario that was at Five Oaks on retreat.
They sang some of my favourite hymns for communion, 471. Eat This Bread and Never Hunger
We also sang: Eat this bread, drink this cup: not a great video
Plus two lovely pieces from More Voices.

What was delightful was as I was listening to the leading worship, I thought, I found out that she was a minister. I had enjoyed this woman's company through the weekend, a good spirit to be around. As I sat and listened to her, and realized what her name was, I thought, wow, I wonder, could she have been @BusyMom's minister. What fun to chat afterwords, and realize... she was!

I love how our circles overlap.

Hi,

Had a fine morning with the folk at Gordon King Memorial. A remnant community seeking opportunity to make a difference in the neighbourhood. Kind and welcoming. A very talented music team filled the space with images and emotions as we gathered. Then an informal liturgy. Here are the thoughts I shared:

What do you do with the bad Nous ... ignore it until the cynics become critical ? Cyan blue ... Prussian concerns ...
