How was church today?

Our message was an elaboration on the listening effect expanding your mind to the busting point ... then the moral mob will believe you're out of here or on your way ... sometime referred to as dynamics ... a MOG perspective! Ephraim 'd spirit or abstract ghosts of a long lost metaphor? These may collapse on paper or other mediums as essence of the aught ... words dissociated in the struggle for power ... while the lesser power ... that's humbly misunderstood by the unnatural powers ... denatured aspirations? These be subtle and yet down ... but could Eris at any time ...

Our minister is down for the count with a bronchitis she can't shake, so one of our VAMs took the service. Nice guy, of whom I'm very fond, but he decided he'd try to tackle "faith and belief" and since I don't use the same definitions as he does, I found it mainly confusing. Fun service, though; he's great with the kids, and he always starts the service with the very corniest of "morning smiles".

Another energetic Sunday morning with the folk at Steinbach United. A fine gathering of persons gladly lifting their voices to sing songs expressing our trust in something bigger than us and our determination to get involved with making our world a better place for the children of our children.

Shared some thoughts about Little House on the Prairie. Drew out the possibility that our plain human interventions may bring wonderful results. Laura saves a young man from being trampled by a team of runaway horses. The boy is deaf and cannot hear their approach.

Following her dramatic intervention, Laura decides to get involved with the boy at a more practical level. Being deaf and mute he is excluded from extensive human interaction. Living in seclusion with a father who wants to protect him from any hurt his difference may cause.

Laura begins teaching the boy some basic hand signs. He picks it up quick and soon they are communicating well. Father is wonderfully surprised. He asks to be taught signs. Soon he and son are conversing freely. Delightful when each signs "I love you" to the other.

Theologians may not consider this a miracle because there is no supernatural power expressed. Not so with the boy's father and all who knew the family. The change is miraculous in its revelation of our ordinary human capacity to bring life changing influence into all our relations.

Be who you are in the best way you know how. You are supported in this by all the ancient writings and the testimony of all persons who took those writings to heart and practiced them on a daily basis.

Cheers,

George

I was travelling this weekend...to see my son and his girlfriend, so I missed my usual church service. But I went to mass with my husband...to a very busy, vibrant, full of young people Catholic church. The neat thing was that the elderly priest is actually one who married us. We had both a Presbyterian minister and a Catholic priest collaborate at our wedding.

We had a great church service yesterday. The music was wonderful, and the prayer time, which included the reading of one of St. Patrick's prayers, deep and meaningful.

God really blessed me in my preaching too. My message was from Mark 10:35-45. The subject was on how to find true significance in life.

With our full-time minister on holidays, on Sunday we were treated to a service by a young woman who is a candidate for the ministry. She did very well. I particularly liked the welcome/call to worship that she used. It was written by and frequently used by her father who is also a minister. The scripture was read by a lay person - Exodus 3: 1-6 and John 4: 5-14. Music was provided not only by the pipe organ and piano, but by bells, violin, and guitar.
Our daughter joined us for worship. Grandson, who would have been with her this weekend, went downhill skiing with his father. It was a beautiful day and the ski season will soon be over. Perhaps he will come with her next week when we have a former moderator as our guest speaker.

@You just never know, did you break your leg and that's why you don't bike?
No just a sore calf that makes even walking no fun. I am the opposite of a hypochondriac so avoid going to the doctor if possible. My brother phoned and he said I should eat lots of bananas as it may be a potassium deficiency. Worth a try and worst thing could happen is I'll start swinging from trees...:ROFLMAO:

Can you avail yourself of the services of a Doctor of Chinese Medicine? I find they can fix structural damage stuff with a visit or two; they will also alert you to more urgent medical issues, should you have them.

This is useful for getting to be observed by notorious people like Newton's ... figgy to those that are so shue that physiological things are wrong in their BS that is based on HS ... but present them with an essence ... and they are off on a tangent, or arch tangent in the extreme ... and don't even know the alternation ... thus vast metaphors go un gnostic! Tis a word for the rarely known ... in a world of hate ... this could be love or the direct opposite passion ...

No opposing mediums allowed as they might think deeper ... thus aesthetic adepts, as ebony onyx thingy ...

Last Sunday was a continuations of the Series "You're not the Hero". It's a series that looks at those who surround the "hero's" in the Bible who help form the stories we are so familiar with.....this week was a focus on forgiveness which included the story about Joseph but told from the brother's and his father's perspective.

Folks, the black dog of depression has been nipping at my heels.......
After missing church the previous week I decided to risk attending the mission church where I give talks on faith and mental health.

Would they think I was a fraud, a woman who still struggled with her own demons?
I needn't have worried. This wonderful congregation -which many with more severe problems than me - just lined up to hug me -when the minister said that I was struggling.
Through them, maybe I've discovered that those who have more dark nights of the soul than most of us, have a silver lining called empathy and generosity of spirit.....

Pilgrim, I've been thinking about you since I saw on facebook that the black dog was hounding you again. Those who know the struggle, or who are close to those who go through it, would never think anotheer person a fraud.
I'm glad that you felt well enough to go back to church. Perhaps this most recent bout is almost over.

Sorry to hear that the beast of depression has been nipping at you PP. As such was the case, I feel that it's understandable that you missed one Sunday. Good to hear that the folks at the mission church were so welcoming and caring.

It was unbelievably slippery/icy today....Made it hard for some to even walk to their cars to drive to church. But we had a faithful few, plus a baptism today, so a total of about 50 people. A few of us whipped up some baking to put out to have with coffee after church. Good message from our wonderful minister. She's been featuring stories about everyday people who demonstrate strong faith, Christian values and abilities to deal with some of life's problems. And our choir did okay with our song. All good.

Lovely busy service today, a baptism of two young kids, and then a liturgy welcoming a dozen new members. I was sorta in charge of the congregational potluck afterwards, and it went swimmingly. What I love about my church is that if someone sees someone working by themselves, 2 minutes later there's 4 of you.
