How was church today?

I visited the local branch of Chanesn's church this morning. The mountains called and I went x-c skiing. A nice long ski (since I ignored my usual turnoff). Sunshine and great views-then communion-or rather a shared meal of chili (beer available) as it was an openhouse day.
Good for you!

Claire and I visited the Mansfield congregation on Saturday and partook of a baptism by fire:

Or maybe it was a race.

Gorgeous views, though.

Cute moment: In the children's story, the minister put out the idea of what it would be like in the famous "This is my son, with whom I am pleased" if God was less of a booming voice from the heavens and more like a proud parent showing off pics of their kids:

"That's my boy! I'm so pleased!" type of thing.
God was the first annoying Facebook parent?

You can actually imagine God in some power's faces ... something like :( ... grim*ace grinched ...

Nous on such stuff is considered devious information ... mindless or brae in less is the myth ...

I. E. don't say it in the power's court ... thus ineffable manna ...

Basically. The minister is a parent herself and apparently was rather embarrassed when she didn't have current pics on her phone to show off when other parents were doing so.

We (Mrs. M went, too) went to Wesley-Knox United, a large, fairly progressive congregation in the Old South neighborhood of London.

I know the place well. It is the regular home of twice annual youthsorship services called "The Swell."

EZed and his brother, Potlicker are usually responsible for putting the service together and I was a regular in their drama troop.

There had just been one the previous Friday. Remembered you talking about it.

Looking forward to this Saturday night. There'll be a Multicultural Families potluck social.

We had a great time at the Multicultural Families event last night. There were about 10 families represented. People were there from Korea, the Philippines, Brazil, Kazakhstan and Canada. Foods were a plenty - and included bulgogi, ribs, chicken, spaghetti, salads, cheese sticks, and lots of fruit. The pastor gave a small lesson from 1 Peter regarding how we husbands are to treat our wives. There was lots of good chat, laughs, meaningful dialogue and prayer.

Lots of time skiing lately. School ski trip Thursday, then Claire's race training Friday. Thursday after skiing we stopped at the Tim Hortons in Stayner for hot chocolates. As Claire was stirring her hot chocolate and waiting for it to cool, she asked, "Is there any religion that thinks whirlpools in nature are caused by God with a giant invisible stir stick, because I feel that should be a thing."

Word for word. I didn't breathe normally for the next 30 seconds.

You should quote her in your signature. The “other chansen”. :D

We received word last evening the church would be cancelled today due to the expected storm. 7 AM this morning, it is hard to say what the storm will be like. Fredericton lies in the St. John River valley. Storms come up from the states along the Bay of Fundy hitting Nova Scotia and southern New Brunswick, with Fredericton on the northern age only getting a little. Or they hit Northern New Brunswick and pass down the East Coast bypassing Fredericton. This storm is expected both the northern and southern New Brunswick; will it miss Fredericton?
I hope they didn't cancel worship prematurely. I miss going to church on Sundays. But safety is also a consideration. I guess I'm glad that I'm not the one making the decision.

Same here. Its snowing a little small snow ( its still -11 + windchill), but is supposed to turn into ice pellets and up to +7 within the next hours with heavy rain. I have lots to read.

I hope everyone in Eastern Canada stay safe and that the snow doesnt bring damages.
This morning was bitterly cold. Wind chills of - 45. I had to walk 4 blocks to take the bus to church and even with my dow and fur coat, thermal long Johns, etc etc etc, I could feel it.
I went to my Lutheran congregation. The heater was in a good temperature, which is uncommon here. Generally people set it too hot and too dry.
The music was great today, very jazz-y, with piano and a band. Very upbeat, cheered me up.
We had a baptism, cute baby and the children sang after it.
The sermon was about the great signs of the wine miracle. The abundance and good quality of the wine are to be received as the promises of the Kingdom.
During communion, the band played Wade in the Water. Loved it.
I felt very good there today. Im glad I went, because the weather almost discouraged me.

Wow - congrats to you for going out in that extreme cold to get to church!! (Be very careful of frostbite at that temp.) Glad it was a good service & you felt restored.

It was a little quieter than usual in church this morning. I had to be up and out to take the old guy home, anyway, so didn't consider missing church.

The rev did something quite fun. Took the lectionary, added John 6:1-15 as a second reading, and talked about abundance. That was a lot of wine. There were a lot of people to feed in John 6.

I missed church today because we had a family lunch here at the paradox house. It was planned for yesterday but rescheduled due to weather and road conditions. I might be able to see what took place on FB . . . will check.
