A few nights ago...some festive Christmas lights on rhododendrons. surf board poking out behind them. I can't remember what the Beware sign said, and I can't read it, too blurry. Sorry.image.jpeg

Poppies grow in the Spring. The In Flanders Fields poem must be about the cemetery site in the Spring...why did poppies become a Rememberance Day symbol for November? Why not more seasonal symbols? (Off topic but I started this thread and the poppies today made me think of it. This question is a direct result of the poppies I saw today, that are in the above photos, IOW. It's too narrow a topic for its own thread, imo...I figure there must be a pretty straightforward answer. The conversation wouldn't go far. Don't want to derail the thread too much but a few guesses, or knowledgeable responses would be okay, I think, because anybody can still post nature photos at any time, and it won't get in the way of that.)

I think these may be little orchids.

Pussy willows. I was having trouble getting the camera to focus on the part I wanted to focus on, both manually and on automatic. I do kind of like this.

Camo fungus that blends in with the wood.

These photos were taken yesterday on Mount Washington.

Honey bees 1622. Dandelions "mid 1600s", so appears that there might be a relationship. Source: quick wiki/google.

I'll tell you that one of the earlier things to bloom in my mad garden is "creeping charlie", has a little blue/violet flower in May/June. If you have a patch of it, it will be alive with bees. Also, a tiny bit later, the wild geraniums, particularly in the blue shades.

Neither are honey bees. They were imported by Europeans as well, though there were native bee species (including the bumble) prior.
Yeah, this time of year we see way more bumble bees than anything else though. I haven't seen a single bee on any of the dandelions, honey bee or otherwise, they tend to go to other flowers preferentially.

My dandelions were alive with bees. Though the little native bees, not the honey bees. But now I am a field of white fluffs

the Apple blossoms in the orchards around here are in full flower so I guess the bees are busy over there right now. We have about 12 apple trees and I hear the buzzing
