Agreed. And the pretty multicoloured flowers are icelandic poppies, a freely self-seeding biennial/tender perennial. But lemons in May?

Re: wild poppies - yes, they're pretty. I have no problem with them, would love to see them covering lawns everywhere, along with the little purple bell clusters that grow wild on lawns (don't know the name but they're weeds to my parents) but wouldn't wild self seeding flowers be considered weeds by some? One definition of a weed is something you don't want growing in your garden.

Some lovely irises in the middle there. Noticed when I was out cutting the grass today that ours are coming up nicely.
Some I've passed, like those, are huge. They look like big tropical flowers. In many different colours and patterns too. So many flowers and gardens I didn't stop to take full notice of before.

I'm pretty sure that's a dogwood tree with the white flowers. That's BC's native flower. I wish I could get a photo with those beautiful little white butterflies (they're not moths, they have rounded wings and they're pretty and fluttery, look like flying blossoms - they always cheer me up - haven't seen monarchsyet, but I never saw those white ones in Vancouver. Lots here), almost the same shape, fluttering around a dogwood tree! Haven't been in the right place at the right time yet. Saw some fluttering around daisies and lilacs next door but didn't have my phone handy.
