Ninja, too thought of making pillowcases.

Kay, my mother's jellybag was a familiar sight in our kitchen when I was growing up.

My contribution for today: if you have another old sheet or similar material you could use this as a big patch over the weak spots of your sheet. I've done that before for children's beds or camp beds. No complaints.
PS probably best done before the fabric wears completely through.

One can always do the 'top and bottom to the middle' trick, and then 'both sides to the middle'. It results in a usable sheet for a smaller bed.

A sensible idea from the depression. My grandmother did that. Also The top sheet was moved to bottom and only bottom sheet was washed. The top one was cleaner. A freshly washed sheet became the top sheet.....whew.

A pair of very soft, comfy shorts, or pants, or a simple top. Dyed in some way, if you wanted. My sister is actually working on something in super light weight jersey for me to wear outside in the summer, while protecting my poor screwed up skin.

My mother use that method -and I followed her example when my children were little.

Mothers and grandmothers who lived through the depression learned to 'make do'. Those of us who have these economies passed down to us were very fortunate.
Ninja, the disparity sensible laboursaving* idea only worked before the advent of fitted sheets.
(*Also a money saver - bottom sheets wear out faster)

But in my account, we now have approximately 25 suggestions, one quarter of the goal. Keep them coming.. Some are quite creative.

My contribution for today:
given to the kids to make a tent. Easy to do – written over the backs of two chairs for low hanging branch

Or several large handkerchiefs, in case The Friendly Giant happens to come by.
