Thanks for the update. I'm glad to hear he is settling in and that things are going well. I hope this gives you time to look after yourself now.

Hugs, crazyheart. I'm glad that the adjustment has been smooth, all around. You must be missing your best friend, though, eh?

I can imagine that. I have had a couple of periods where I lived completely alone (right now, I have BetteDaughter upstairs, BetteDaughterBoy in the bedsitting room downstairs). I confess to rather liking it, but you do crap like filling the damned house with critters, talking to yourself a lot...

Crazyheart, I'm really glad it's working out. I think this is one of the best long term care situations I've heard of. The people I have known really didn't like being there - even when the facility was good. I hope you're finding some people to get together with during the day!

It's actually, ultimately, much easier to deal with long-term care if you have dementia. For those who are there because their bodies betrayed them in some way (diabetes amputations, stroke), but their minds remained intact, it is probably much more difficult. Or that's been my observation, anyway. Dementia can have some transitory "upset" periods when people seem actively to know what they've lost, but it's largely a decline into sweet babyhood.

Glad to hear that Crazydad is settling in and feeling secure at his new home. Hope you are able to adjust to life alone CH and that you do some recuperating.

A suggestion for a christmas gift would be an electronic photo frame. Get one of your kids-like your daughter) to help you set it up. When it is plugged in it changes the photo every so often. It's like having a photo album all in one place.

Glad he is settling in. I understand feeling kind of lost living alone. After doing it last year I was happy to welcome my 2 hockey player billets this year.

Crazyheart - I'm glad to hear that your husband is settling in so well. And I echo others comments that this is a time to look after yourself and make your own adjustments. Living alone (I've had periods since I was a teen) can be lonely. It can also give you a lot of freedom to be yourself; do what you want, when you want. Eat what you want, when you want - as long as overall you eat a good diet. Read into the night and sleep late; or vice versa - get up early, get your chores done, go for a walk, and then take a long nap. Just remember to keep up your real life contacts as well as your friends here on WonderCafe2.

Cake and ice cream for breakfast. Eat the porridge later on in the day, lol.

Mrs. M used to do that (cake for breakfast). We have cake in the house so rarely now, not really happening much anymore. We're provisionally on tap to host Christmas this year (even more shocking, it might actually be on Christmas Day for once) so probably some baking will happen around then.

It is lonely. This is the first time I have ever lived alone.

Crazyheart, it's not easy getting used to living on your own, but there are pluses......
You can eat and sleep when you want - in fact you have more control of time compared to those who live with others.

I confess I still find it difficult that the armchair beside me is empty ......
My solution?
Go on Facebook and post something whenever you feel the need to talk to someone. (Except for one of my son-in-laws, who said "I un-followed you, Chris, you post too much stuff!")

I would never eat cake for breakfast - not that there's anything wrong with that. Now pie I will gladly eat any time of day. :)

Sunday - As most of my family are flying to mexico to my granddaughter's wedding, my daughter

son-in-law and grandson ns I went to see CrazyDad.

He was really well. He had a couple of transfusions and a colonoscopy last week

all is good. Today he moved from the chair to the wheelchair by himself using his arms.

He was quite pleased to show us.
