Sad, @crazyheart . Wish it was otherwise. I was talking to someone who went through similair to my Dad's situation though that person's father didn't come out of it. It was a relief when he passed to all. The grieving had occurred for so long during his failure and hope had long been gone that he would be Dad again. In our case, we felt that, but, the pattern was not set, the destination was not known.

I feel for those who face loss of relationship, regardless if through death or through changed person. Hugs to all who are in that situation.

We have become very bad at looking after our seniors. It is appalling that someone has to be housed in a place 150K from their home. That happens in the BC Peace as well, and is a result of poor management of the health authority there in my opinion.

Keep leaning CH. Social Workers and Home Care people have strong backs.

Happy anniversary CH. 56 years.
I imagine lots of new learning and adjustments are happening for you.
Like me last yer, you are now alone in your home.
You are in my thoughts.

We found this out yesterday morning after asking. Catheter( permanent) ordered by the surgeon that did.

prostate surgery a year ago. There is a blockage that he anticipated might happen But family

was not told.

He had his first tub bath and hair wash.

His bed was nicely made.

He walked the loop with physio therapist and walker

I guess TLC is good.

He sat in chair and ate a little lunch.

Much more coherent.

I called to have a nail person (hospital gave us name) and she will do nails tomorrow.

he will stay in hospital until he can be moved to long term care.

A whole new phase of life for you, Crazyheart.
Holding you in my thoughts . . . P3

I cannot begin to imagine the profound loss you are wrestling with.

I remember an elderly aunt who disappeared into her memories. She kept referring to me as her brother (he was my great-grandfather and I guess we bore some resemblance).

At the time I was 18 and had no pastoral clue about what I should be doing.

I didn't have a lifetime invested in our relationship.

I am sorry for this particular hardship you are facing. Don't not share this with your kids. They will not feel good if you hide things from them including your grief, anger or fear.

This is one of the times where family stands together.

Pace yourself. The road gets harder up ahead. Which is not reassuring. Sorry about that. You won't walk it well alone. Lean on your kids as much as you can.

You are in my thoughts today, Crazyheart..............

I remembered that I had bought some clothing for my nice young neighbour's baby son - and decided I would give it to him before the baby gets too old to wear it!
As I approached his apartment block I saw this elderly lady just walking around, looking lost. Seems she'd locked herself out -so I asked my young friend if he could help her. He whispered that he knew her, and that she had memory problems. He than handed me his baby son and disappeared for fifteen minutes. The baby was fine for the first ten minutes and then cried his lungs out. Luckily Dad heard him, and returned, saying that he managed to help the old lady.
He is such a thoughtful young man. (He was my computer problem's man - and washed my car for me after my husband died)

In my roundabout way I'm saying that there are many nice folks out there, Crazyheart, if you confide in them, they'll respond well.

Keep your chin up, my friend..........
