Covid 19 Vaccine

And listening to CBC news today was a bit sobering. Third world countries are really struggling with vaccination rates, of less than 5% (1st dose), while we've achieved 70% of the eligible population in Ontario now.

"The best of their ability" is a key phrase there. Even the most inadequate of governments (and those, like DoFo, who've been slipping through crappy legislation without much attention during this), are clearly dealing with the pandemic in the best way they know how.

So the new rule will be 70+ or got 1st dose before April 18. That kicks in Thursday here. Mrs. M is in the April 18 group (barely) so I will once again be employing my mad web skillz to get an appointment as quickly as possible. Haven't failed yet. Now wondering what this means for me (1st dose on May 4).

I had first dose April 28, my 2nd dose currently scheduled for 18 Aug. Website tells me I'm not eligible to re-schedule yet.

There are still some groups who I think need their 2nd dose accelerated. They should also be examining who has a reduced response, but a response and should get a 3rd dose fairly soon. Some you could give them 10 doses without it doing much at all.

@Northwind @JayneWonders I've shared earlier - COVID-19 Tracker Canada - Vaccination Tracker mentioned earlier
Hard to remove bias as not all provinces report doses as received like Alberta does, so some provinces have more than what the tracker shows.
Currently, per 100K:
75971 - Quebec
76009 - ON
75957 - BC
74392 - AB

Also note due to how Quebec is counting their numbers, their number of doses is actually underrepresented (doses administered could actually be greater than 100% of doses delivered).
Numbers I did about a week ago from the same source, right after AB received a delivery, before that shipment was received the other 3 had the same numbers, AB was sitting at 61253:

68393 - Quebec
68535 - ON
68238 - BC
66589 - AB

Based on trends, I expect to see ON getting more doses delivered before we get more, despite currently having less per capita.
And ON and QC both got more doses today. With Alberta lagging on when vaccines are sent, it would be nice if the federal government would at least round up a case, for how they are delivered. Ie. We would be ever so slightly ahead (although population numbers are off anyway) for the 3-4ish days that it typically takes. It's not even like we're talking behind 1 case most of the time anyway, I don't know why the discrepancy goes to so many doses.

I'm also part of the pre-April 18 group. My original date was July 24. After going online to the local Public Health website (and cleaning up all of AutoFill's screwups), my booking is for a month earlier.

Has anyone heard anything re j&just? I think it wS to be the solution for groups that were nest handled with one shot

Yes, it is, even if I did have a few heated words for AutoFill.... Oh well, all's well that ends well.

Here as far as I know just for the truckers to get it in the US. I don't think it was ever approved to be used in Canada after the facility issue. Ie. Health Canada approved the product, but the batch/anything from that facility had a hold and never cleared.

So US investigation has to finish - not sure of the timeline, and then nothing here is guaranteed after that. If we do start, will probably be an even further delay after the US clears it.

I was able to move my 2nd appt in -- now it's booked for June 23rd. I'm so thankful for the roll-out going on, and the work the health care agencies are doing to get us vaccinated.

I know that i am privileged, and having a 2nd dose make me even more so, but, right now, I will take it.

Had a lovely visit with a couple on their back deck who have both received their 2nd dose. Even had a cup of tea. What a delight. Felt almost like real-life

I get my second shot on the 24th. My wife has already had her second dose (of the other mRNA formula) and has warned me of some of the possible side effects, based on her experience. I may be grumpy for 48-72 hours, apparently.

I actually had tea, unmasked, but 6' apart, on a church friend's back deck this spring. Before the gypsy moth caterpillars moved in. I can't re-book my second appointment yet, but suspect in a week or so, I can move it down a month.

Yeah, another friend warned of possibly 3 days of mild flu symptoms after second shot. If I have to call in sick, well, it will be a first...

I get my second shot on Monday. If the gods of covid restrictions are friendly we'll sail to the mainland on Wednesday on the 0745 sailing. Maybe I'll bring some Advil in the truck. We'll be driving to Kelowna. The truck is comfortable and I can sleep if needed. I'm thankful to be able to get it almost two months to the day from my first dose
