I was curious, the subzone I'm in has had the highest numbers quite often, currently is red (only a few). There's a total of 3, and all on the west half of the subzone. Hopefully that changes, for now I give the age thing a pass - eligibilities is likely currently low for phase 2A, but 2B can really change that.
I do wish they would do more for here, we were left out of the communities picked as being hard hit - as they focused on income with the hard hit and the income here wasn't low enough. We were actually worse off though. I think a driving aspect here is things connected to kids/parents. Ie. School goes in, parents socialize. Parents socialize during kids activities, etc. Only data I have to back that up is the timing of school and other activities and trend with cases.
There was at least one business renting out for large parties too.

A teacher in Israel who refused vaccination and also refused to get tested went to court because she was not allowed back to work. Court decided that the rights of her students to be healthy trump her personal rights.
I wonder how our courts would respond to a similar case. The US would almost certainly find for the individual at some point, but it also would likely go all the way to SCOTUS and I am not sure how they would come down. Not so sure about ours. We tend more to giving government some leeway to protect society, trying to hit a balance rather than worshipping individual rights as the US does.

I forgot to mention that the court also said that government needs to come up with regulations.
For me, the point is that she refused testing as well. As long as unvaccinated people get their daily test, I see no problem. Plus , of course, PPE and whatever is mandatory in the health system ( if it is about healthcare workers). If my dental hygienist ( who hasn’t been able to get vaccinated yet), would want to see me without mask and shield, hell no.

I think they have started dental practitioners in my area. They are listed as eligible on the health unit website at least.

Was there rapid testing being offered at the school?

Sorry, what's the question? Astrazeneca is being done through appointments at drugstores
If there was a good reason for the gap in the sites on the map. Ie. mass vaccination clinic instead of having pharmacies do it there.

aaah, i now see the map.
I don't know Toronto well enough to know if the areas in question are part of the mass clinics area, or the mobility teams that are going to buildings.
@Lastpointe may.

I don’t know how the decision is were made for which pharmacys get the shots. I do know that a big issue in Toronto areas of poor housing is the lack of certain types of stores. Lack of grocery stores for sure so I can imagine pharmacy’s too. It is possible that the area highlighted only has independent pharmacy’s. Or none? Or .......

but I also know that you can go to any pharmacy. Anyone in Ontario can. You don’t need to live in the areas. Just be the right age and an Ontario resident

Good question @Kimmio re distribution. It's only the Astra Zeneca being given at pharmacies. Originally only to 60-64 age; but as of tomorrow ALL people over 60 are eligible for it. I put our names on 3 wait lists on Friday when that was announced. Shoppers was useless as you must call - as if that phone will ever not be busy! I think online wait list is a better function & they also ask if you can get there within an hour if they call - emphasizing this does NOT change eligibility for access to appointments.

I have no idea how it was decided which pharmacies would do injections & haven't been able to source criteria online. From looking at the lists, it is mainly but not exclusively large chains - Shoppers, Rexall, Guardian, Walmart, Costco, and a few independents. But it's certainly not ALL locations for those either. I suspect staffing and storage, as well as having appropriate physical facility to bring people in, wait after etc. might also be an issue.

Toronto and neighbouring Peel region were put on different access protocols by the province - go figure because BOTH are hot spots. Peel does not have pharmacy access - only mass clinics (which only do Moderna & Pfizer to older people) and Astra Zeneca only through primary care provider. As if everyone actually HAS a family doctor! Forgot to factor in that significant detail IMO. Peel is pretty ticked - especially Brampton with its very high rate of community transmission amongst manufacturing & warehousing sectors especially. Right now one of the Amazon warehouses in Brampton is shut down for 2 weeks due to outbreak.

I did hear on radio that some large businesses are lobbying to set up immunization clinics on their sites for their employees and all those in the surrounding areas which seems like a good idea. I hope that happens.

Funny here AstraZeneca was mass clinics only and Pfizer and Moderna were available at both. The jump ahead phase 2D for AstraZeneca had to be booked through AHS.
That will change in the future but all the early doses got assigned fairly quickly.

BC is using the AZ vaccine for the priority workers. That means there are basically two streams for vaccines now. The workers are one stream and the other stream is age based

Here they didn't add any new groups for it, just moved to what was seen as ok for potential lower efficacy and also not going to speead to vulnerable groups. With it just being another group with phase 2 it wasn't a big surprise I felt like it was all grouped as phase 2 for that type of flexibility as new vaccines came forth.
